I had a great lash extension experience at Dolly Effect! I was greeted when I walked in and given an iPad to fill out an intake form which asked about the type of look I'm going for and whether I had any allergies since this was my first time at Dolly Effect. After I was finished, I was given a quick consultation where I was able to pick the style, length, and curl that I wanted. It was super helpful to be able to see photos of the different styles as well as the curls. I went with the Enhanced Volume set in the cat eye style. I was then escorted to one of the lash rooms where I was given a blanket. The ambiance, decor, and music made me feel so relaxed! My entire appointment was around 2 hours from consultation to check out, and my lash technician was great - she was very gentle to the point where I fell asleep (I usually never do during my lash appointments elsewhere!). The finished set was very lightweight and did not irritate my usually-sensitive eyes. My eyes did not burn or tear up. Upon check out, I was given a cute little pouch with a spoolie, cleaning swab, and aftercare instructions. I'm so glad that Dolly Effect is opening up more studios around the Bay Area - they not only have the cutest minimalistic space, but their work is fantastic and it feels like a spa experience. My first time getting lash extensions! I was hesitant since my eyes are senstive, but the process was very easy and comfortable. The consultation and service took less than 2 hours overall. The receptionist was very thorough with the consultation and made sure I was award of the different options they had to offer. The overall application of the lashes was very relaxing. They applied tape around my eyes and I eventually fell asleep once my tech began. They play soothing music and the ambiance reminds me of a spa. My eyelash tech even gave me a brief head massage while the lashes dried. I was truly getting pampered! The lashes I chose were Mixed Kitten Eye styled and the length ranged from 10-12mm. They played an aftercare video after the service with detailed descriptions. I was really happy with the overall look and how durable the lashes feel. They're very secure and make my eyes look complete! UPDATE: I ended up getting an allergic reaction to the adhesive they use as eyelash glue and the studio was VERY KIND. They generously investigated where the irritation occurred and gave me several options to help find a solution. Since I had an allergic reaction, they offered to use a different adhesive for sensitivity! If you have sensitive eyes, I definitely recommend asking about this alternative. read more

I haven't had my lashes done since beginning of the year and what better way to get back into the routine than visit Dolly Effect's new location in Los Altos! If you know me, I'm a loyal Dolly Effect girl and I don't get extensions anywhere else. I was so excited to hear they were expanding and moving on down the Bay Area! Although this location is a bit far for me, I still made the trek out here to check out the new place! There is plenty of parking around the area and it's such a cute little downtown street. There are other things around too so after getting your lashes done, you can walk around the neighborhood as well. If you've been to their other locations, you'll notice this one looks a bit different. Definitely looks like a bougie upgrade, which I believe is part of their rebranding! It's modern and simplistic. Even though the environment feels different, the lashes are still the same! I usually get Volume but ended up doing Mixed set because so much of my natural lashes grew out. My current lashes look so full, I was surprised when I opened my eyes! The lash artist was very gentle during the whole process and I got a mini head massage at the end while we waited for my lashes to dry. Of course there is no other place I recommend to get lash extensions at than Dolly Effect! They have 3 locations now: Colma, San Bruno, and Los Altos. I came to Dolly Effect for my first ever lash extensions because my friend recommended this place. I don't wear make up and my biggest fear is coming out the salon with 2 butterflies overwhelming my monolid eyes. I have gotten a lash lift before which was too natural in my opinion, so I was looking for my lashes to be somewhere in between a lash lift and falsies. I ended up choosing the natural Dolly set with the longest lashes being 11mm. My lash tech Sabrina did an amazing job! She was very meticulous and my lashes actually came out looking n a t u r a l. It just looks like I have naturally long lashes on camera, and in person it looks like I used the best mascara of my life. I would definitely go back. I will say that they have a regular glue and a sensitive option. I opted for the regular glue and my eyes did burn a bit but after my extensions were done, the burning subsided. If you think you have eye or skin sensitivities, I would suggest asking for them to use their sensitive glue instead. read more
