I've been debating on writing a review for a couple months now... and that's because CJ is so amazing and I've just wanted to keep her all to myself! I've been coming to CJ for almost a year now for lash extensions, and she is so good at what she does! I've been to a handful of different artists, and she is definitely the best. First, she is so nice and easy to talk to, and she always asks you how you want to do your lashes at the beginning of every appointment. I was really sad and worried to have to break up with my lash girl BC it is incredibly hard to find someone that does beautiful lashes in the area - and when you do find some prospects, they've already got their steady regulars and can't take you on, etc. But sometimes, you get really fucking lucky and hit the beauty jackpot. Here's my story.. I was scouring Instagram for local lash artists and came across vixen + venom. CJ had great photos, so I contacted her through IG and easily set up an appointment and I haven't .strayed since! She's located at Wilson's Salon (another great spot in Downtown Sunnyvale on the corner of Murphy and Washington, which is extremely close and convenient for me (+1 star for being by my favorite Phil'z, haha). Wilson's Salon is really cool and modern- with a very industrial feel, but her room is totally different.. it's hip and feminine- lots of white, gold, and mirrored things. CJ is a GODDESS. I love my lashes every single time. She's a wealth of knowledge, extremely skilled, and is just the nicest person. She also does eyebrow extensions and a grip of skin treatments like LED light therapy and masks (all while you're getting your lashes done - mask+led+ lashes= whole new me). I truly see a difference in my skin since she's been taking care of my face. I went with the reviews and got eyelash extensions for the first time for my wedding recently. CJ was so relaxed but professional. She talked to me about the curve and length of the extensions I wanted and was so fun to chat with throughout the whole process. I specifically wanted a natural look but one that would show up in photos, and I was completely obsessed with the way the lashes turned out. I went over a week before my wedding in case of any allergic reactions, and after a week my eyelashes had grown quite a bit. I had a freakout about my lashes just a couple days before my wedding, and CJ texted with me around 10PM one night and fit me in the next day for a touch-up! I'm not sure I would do extensions regularly because they grew out quickly for me and fell out in weird patches, and I found the maintenance to be kind of annoying. But I would definitely do them again for a special occasion, and I'm not sure I would trust anyone besides CJ to do them in the future. read more

CJ is absolutely amazing!! It's pretty hard to describe the quality of her work in words because every aspect of her business and how she guides you through the process is done so well. I found CJ when I came across her Instagram a while ago, and have been following her work ever since. I was slightly hesitant when I considered getting lash extensions because there's so many artists out there with varying prices. I also wasn't sure if it'd be worth spending the extra money. However, after seaking to friends who chose to save a little money and go with cheaper artists, most had issues with retention and bad encounters with unlicensed artists. So while her pricing may be slightly higher, I still chose to go with CJ because her work was so beautiful and delicate in comparison. I have no regrets at all! After going to CJ, I truly believe you get what you pay for. It's been a solid two weeks and I've experienced no discomfort, itchiness, or pain. I will definitely be going back to visit again. My visit happened to be pretty last minute (the day of my prom haha), I texted CJ the day before and she came in early to fit me in at 7:30 AM the next day. Her professionalism and flexibility when accommodating to my needs was so nice. She never made me feel bad or apologetic for asking. Overall, I felt like she really cared about my lashes and making me feel confident and pretty. From helping me pick out a shape that would compliment my eyes to teaching me how to take care of them, she kept me informed of what was going throughout the process. My eyes were even twitching slightly, but she never complained and did an amazing job. Her sweet personality and conversation made the time pass so quickly. I've received an OVERWHELMING amount of compliments and questions about where I got my lashes done and I LOVE waking up and not worrying about makeup. CJ is the best. She's patient with questions and provides suggestions based on what you're comfortable with - which for me, to look natural and have the no make-up, make-up look for work. First time, I started off small and went with the Classic Lite, but after the first full set and fill, I went for a Classic Full set the second time around. The length and curl are different each time, because I'm still figuring out what I love and feel comfortable with - absolutely nothing negative about CJ's work. I'm not a girly girl by any means, and am a little commitment-phobic when it comes to hair, nails, make up, lashes....so it takes me a little bit to know what I feel comfy with. CJ's room inside Wilson's Salon in Downtown Sunnyvale is clean, and comfortable. I fall asleep every. time. No matter the time of day. It's a little embarrassing because I snore and wake myself up, but she's down to earth about it and laughs with me. She's a great conversationalist, and that says a lot to me because I dislike small talk. ;) Take care of the lashes, and they'll take care of you and you won't need to fill as often. I fill every 3 weeks or so. I brush them twice a day, and am careful to use oil-free products and cleansers. Setting up appointments is efficiently online, and she responds quickly to appointment change requests that are given with enough notice. Payment is super easy as well. Yay! I finally went to a place I bookmarked. Vixen + Venom has been bookmarked for a really long time because CJ's schedule was always busy! All these reviews and pictures made me stir crazy. I finally saw a day/time that worked for me and took it. Today was the day, I walked into Wilson's Salon (early) and sat in their waiting area while CJ was wrapping up with a customer before me. When it was my turn she warmly greeted me and had me sign a form acknowledging all the usual warnings etc, then asked what I'm looking for and made notes. She then brought out the different curls with sizes to show and let me choose which one I wanted rather trying to go through all the technical terms (like other salons I've been to). CJ is amazing. I was incredibly curious about eyelashes since having a bad experience before, and she was active and helpful answering all of my questions! My previous lash technician wasn't mindful and never did a swatch test, and I recently learned I am allergic to the eyelashes! From heavier research and discussions, it all made sense why my eyes would puff up or inflate red and swollen from lashes alone. CJ offered a swatch test and to apply eyelashes on for two weeks before going through with an entire application, but upon learning this knowledge I didn't feel it would be worth her energy or my eye health to attempt. Booked my first apt. with CJ today based on a referral from a friend whose lashes always looked amazing. I was not disappointed! I am certainly not an over the top glam girl, but I still like to look put together. After texting and talking with CJ about different options we settled on a hybrid set with black and brown lashes to help soften the look. I'm blessed with naturally long and full lashes, but they're pretty blond so it takes a good few coats of mascara to help define them. Not anymore! I told her I wanted to look like I had on mascara, without having to actually wear it, especially as I'm headed on vacation and will be in a humid area where it would usually melt or flake off. I also wanted to avoid the streaky raccoon look after being in a pool with my kids. I can't wear waterproof mascara as it always just strips my eyes of the lashes I do have, even with industrial strength eye makeup remover. I am SO SO happy I booked with CJ today. She was friendly, professional, extremely knowledgeable and answered all my newbie questions thoroughly and patiently!
