Astor is amazing. I've only gotten my eyelashes done once prior to her and they never really held up. But for Astor's work and her consultation with taking care of the eyelashes, it helped. I've been putting off writing a review for so long, but this place deserves credit. This is the only place I have ever gotten my lashes done at, and it will be the only place I'll EVER go to! Keep in mind that I live in the East Bay, but will gladly drive all the way out here to get my lashes done. Every member of the staff here is super friendly and professional. They are very responsive to texts and scheduling an appointment with them is so easy. The studio is very cute and clean. Downstairs, they have a private room (curtained off), a makeup removal station, and up the spiral stair case, they have two beds. And the beds- they are so comfy! They even give you a blanket. They play relaxing music and have diffusers, so the place smells like lavender. I look forward to my appointments here because not only do I get my lashes done, I get to relax! I've fallen asleep so many times while getting my lashes done, haha. They even give you a scalp massage at the end of your session! Considered getting an extension for a really long time and did a lot of research and was finally ready. A friend told me to come to Dolly Effect and I am sad I didn't start sooner! My lashes stay on 3/4 weeks and i don't even use mascara anymore, it's amazing! I went with a natural set, it feels great to only have to worry about some Concealer and blush. Having naturally long lashes I was always hesitant to try extentions but gave in before my recent vacation . I thought it would be a great low maintenance experience. 2 stars are for the attentiveness and cute boutique that Dolly Effect is. Upon entering I was greeted in a prompt and very friendly manor. I showed the technicians photos of what I was looking for. I wanted a mixed set. Some added length and volume but not too much. Seeing as how I already have a ton of lashes I knew I didn't need a volume set, but they kept pushing a volume set. I was told the process would take about 2 hours. Fast forward 4 hours later and I was finally done. I attribute the length of my appointment to the fact that, like I said I have a ton of lashes and it took the girl forever. I was a little overwhelmed with what I saw once completed. A very, very dramatic look. I expressed my disappointment of the overall look with the receptionist. She kept reiterating how they were just something I had to get used to, but if I wasn't happy I can go back upstairs lay down and have them removed immediately. After laying there for 4 hours I was not going to go through the process of removal. In the first few days I lost about 6 to 12 clusters of lashes. Clusters , as in five lashes glued together and stuck unsuccessfully to my natural lash. After about 3 weeks I could not take it anymore and requested to have them removed. During an appointment that took about a half hour I endured the uncomfortable removal of my lashes, and there was no doubt that my natural lashes were being removed while the extensions were removed. Every tug and pinch- I felt! I expressed my discomfort to the technician and she tried to excuse the pain for the fact that I had "cotton" stuck to my lashes from the use of Qtips or cotton pads. When I let her know that all I was using was the micro tip they gave me she responded "oh, ok". I have attached a photo of the lashes removed and you can see my natural lash attached to almost every one. I was very upset at the state of my natural lashes after this whole process. I had the extensions on for a total of 3 weeks. My natural lashes are short, stubby, brittle and almost non-existent. I was told that it's just a shock to me because I am used to seeing the Lash extensions on my eyes when in fact my eyelashes are extremely damaged. This appointment was wrapped up with the associate of Dolly effect trying to sell me a lash serum for $50 which I later found on Amazon for $25. I know women who have had lash extensions on for over a year and they're lashes are not in the state that mine are today. I can honestly say this was such a horrible experience that I will never revisit again. read more

i've went to a couple places in the past to get lash extensions and dolly effect has been by far the most detailed and relaxing experience. there have been places i went to where they just put whatever style on me and don't explain anything & times where i have just been left laying on the bed unattended for long periods of time. as a new client, dolly effect goes over what to expect and what kinds of lashes you want, ranging from length, curl, adhesive, & style. they are very thorough and explain what each style looks like and what is recommended in regards to what style you're looking for. after getting the lashes done, they feel light but also sturdy, the process was relaxing and efficient (took about 1 1/2 hours, i've had places where i was there for 2+ hours) and my lash tech was very professional. i never once felt uncomfortable, definitely recommend coming here for anyone looking to get lash extensions!! read more

I have been wanting to get eyelash extensions for over 3 years now but have had many hesitations. Now that I am working in corporate while going to school, eye make up just takes way tooooo long in the mornings. I'd rather do my brows and base and get my butt out the door, so I opted to get these extensions. This was my absolute first time getting eyelash extensions, and I am beyond impressed for a few reasons- First off, the facility is absolutely stunning. The interior had me in awe internally (calm, quiet and peaceful). Trimmings were extremely tasteful and had my inner designer quite content. Secondly, the stuff are incredibly accommodating, sweet and mindful of your personal tastes and will work with you to figure out which lashes would be the best for your eye shape and your personal style. There are so many different variations of each style. I just had them choose something for me personally and I thought they worked perfectly for my eye shape. If you're anything like me, you're the type that researches the crap out of something before you try it. I was so scared to get extensions because of all the rumors of eyelashes falling out, the glue hurting eyelids.. etc however, there was none of that with this place. The glue ONLY hurts if you open your eyes during the procedure (which I do naturally because I sleep with my eyes slightly open.... yikes I know.. a nightmare). The application process does not hurt in the slightest and is very peaceful and quick yet thorough. I felt that each lash was being taken care of. HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend for everyone. Love this place! Found out about dolly effect roughly a year ago when I moved back home from SoCal. I've been getting my eyelash extensions done in Orange County, so when I moved back, I was afraid I wouldn't find a place I'd like. Fast forward a year later, and I've been getting my eyelashes done by dolly effect since. I think there are 3(?) lash technicians, and they all do amazing work! From the people to the place, they are super nice, accommodating, thorough, and clean. Scheduling with them is never stressful. Parking is convenient, there's free 2 hour street parking right outside! My eyelashes would last me 3 good weeks and could be longer if I didn't want a fill yet. The eyelashes are light weight, it doesn't feel like I have them on! Overall, I love that they all care about their clients from the beginning til the end of the process. However, from time to time I will take Bart to visit the Colma team because they are near to the Bart station and I can visit them when the SB studio is fully booked. My first appointment with Dolly (Colma) was in the summer of 2017, and I haven't left! There are so many reasons why I have stayed a customer with Dolly Effect. First off, every staff member is always courteous. Whether it's Nancy (who messages and facilitates scheduling), the front desk greeting you (Lydia or Jonathan), or the eyelash stylist themselves, you are treated with respect as a valued customer. Second, the quality of lashes are really good. They fall off little by little as the days and weeks go by, but their volume and style are consistent and make getting ready in the morning an easier task (all I do is add foundation and lip gloss, and I'm good to go)! Third, the wonderful head massage at the end of your appointment always feels so refreshing when lying down in one position for so long. Astor is fantastic. I took a couple years off from lash extensions due to weakening lashes. I decided to start up again after reading good reviews on Dolly Effect; the price point is so much more affordable than the last salon i went to in San Francisco which provided great quality but services are nearly double the price of Dolly Effect. Astor informed me that i should be applying lash growth serum with my extensions in to prevent the weakening of my lashes. She's good at listening to what styles and looks I like. The quality of extensions is also great here - i believe they are all mink. I have the volume mix extensions in right now and will definitely continue coming here!
