Tanger Outlets Ottawa - 2 fave stores, then a quick purchase at Soft Moc

Went to Tanger Outlets Ottawa and honestly had a really good time…read more There's a ton of stores and I actually found stuff here I couldn't find online or at regular locations which surprised me. The deals were really good too Old Navy was solid as usual and even Lululemon had that 2 for $100 leggings thing. They have QR codes everywhere so you can just scan and join their rewards/app on the spot and get coupons while you shop which is kinda nice, didn't feel complicated. The vibe was cute too there's like a fire pit in the middle (even though it was sunny lol), music playing, and I swear I smelled mini donuts at one point with some bangers playing lol Also random tip but if you're signed up with Lindt you can get free chocolate bag for your birthday (and like up to 30 days after). Only thing is the food area is super small, like a couple spots, so don't expect a full food court. But honestly you won't really care because there's a lot to walk through. Would go back for sure.

Japanese, Subway, Greek... nah but the washrooms inside there are handy and clean. The stores I would normally go are Bath and Body Works for foaming soap and hand sanitizer.. love their candles too. Van Houte maybe for a rare treat. Tommy Hillfiger but nothing fits right as I have an athletic build so... I just look. I love Softmoc, I do have too many shoes and boots but that's allowed! My ultimate spot there is Chilly Chiles as I love hot food/sauces and the staff there are great. I love the kitchen store too but I have wayyyyy too much of that stuff as I love to cook and already have fancy glasses. Mid week is best to go for service and parking - weekends, I avoid.

I pass it quiet frequently and always wanted to stop in, but it was never on the top of my priority list, especially with so many other thrift stores on that street. I had some Christmas items that I wanted to donate, and thought, this is my chance to check out Bibles for Missions. I could tell just from stepping up to the donation door that they bombarded with donations. The donation door was wide open and there were a couple of workers in the back, no greeting, acknowledgment, or thank you, so I plopped my donation down and decided to check out the store. The first thing that I noticed were the signs placed in the entrance "please leave big purses and bags at cash, we reserve the right to search your bag," and so on. Maybe there has been a lot of theft? Not sure, but it did not give me a friendly first impression. No greeting, or acknowledgment throughout the 15 minutes browsing the store, but there were plenty of staff on the sales floor for customer assistance/questions. I did not find that there was a great selection, it was like walking through grandmas basement. Nothing caught my eye here, and I was not "wowed" by anything in particular. What stands out about this thrift store than others, is that it is mostly volunteers, and the majority of the profit goes towards their partnership with the bible league of Canada. More information found on their website: http://www.bfmottawa.com/about-us Would I go back? Only to donate, not to shop.

The Long Version: I stopped in British Pride Bakery to check it out since I was in the area for other reasons. I was impressed with the amount of snacks they had imported from the UK. They had lots of biscuits (cookies), chocolate and crisps (chips). They had a clearance section where items were marked down to half-price. These were all nearing or past their best before dates. They also had clearance items throughout the store. I was there for the baked goods though. I got a Corned Beef Pasty ($4.50), a Custard Tart ($3.50) and a Butter Tart ($2.95). After I ordered the pasty, I saw they had warm ones in the warmer by the cash register (different flavours though). The ones in the glass displays are cold, so I had to take it home to warm it up. The Corned Beef Pasty was ok, but the filling was mostly potatoes with very little corned beef. The pastry was flaky and it was good but I enjoyed the sweet items I bought more. The custard tart was delicious. I like that it wasn't too sweet. The custard was soft and creamy. The crust was a little too buttery for me, lol. But I'm sure that's an odd complaint. The butter tart was sweeter and also tasty. It has no raisins or nuts. I prefer to have something in the filling, but those who like just the buttery goo will like the ones here. The place is spacious, brightly lit and clean. Staff were very courteous and pleasant. FYI: They charge a 2.26% surcharge if you use a credit card to pay. They are transparent about this, the cashier advised me and it's posted right next to their payment machine. I personally find this charge hefty. I chose not to pay it by using debit instead. This store opened November 13, 2023. It's a chain. The first store opened in Cambridge, ON in 2010. They have since expanded to 8 locations across Ontario. This Stittsville location is in a plaza. Lots of free parking available in the plaza. Review #35 (2025)
