Brown's Your Independent Grocer - I don't eat dessert. BUT, was craving cheesecake, and this did not disappoint!

I don't eat cheese often but weirdly, I love their no name yellow bag of low moisture mozzarella. Great for pasta and pizza. Lobsters, available fresh from the tank for those special occasions. Also, I enjoy their wine area, the workers in that section and the wine selection. I discovered a XO mango habanero bottle of white that I really like for $12. Now, I'm onto their XO pinot for wintertime and steak pairing. Yum. I always buy candles in the home section. 3 wick. Parking is never a real issue but this is a busy place. Thankfully, they have self check outs so I can breeze in and out as I never buy too much at a time.

There's plenty of parking around the grocery store, and there's a Tim Horton's next door (among many other things, in the plaza). You are greeted at the entry by the sushi counter, where I have occasionally seen someone making fresh sushi. There's a refrigerated display case right at this entrance where they entice you with fruit and veggie platters, and some ready made salads to go. I really like that grocery stores do that now! It's usually cheaper and quicker than getting take out. They also have a flower shop, and a small selection of clothing. This is one chain of stores that offers a coffee grinder, so you can get fresh ground coffee here (note: the machine was broken on the weekend of October 27-28 2018; I sincerely hope they will be able to fix it soon!) This IGA is one of the larger grocery stores we go to. It's central and convenient, and we usually go here every week.

Everyone I know shops here for certain things... I did a comparison and did my normal No Frills…read morerun today... then came here. Especially as NF didn't have all I needed. Not usual. I liked the choice here, cleanliness. Layout was ok. More variety of things.. produce looked ok. I think I got the last sirloin steak. First one I had seen all day too. Cases of water were close to the self check out. I liked that. And yes... I like to touch my own stuff, I bring my own bags and check out on my own. Prices seemed on par, maybe a bit lower. It's a tad bit further but I'm going to give this place a go for awhile. There's a member option sign up. I'll do that next time.

Sometimes the prices are better here, and sometimes not so much. I've actually stood in a store and compared cost of items, using Flipp on my smart phone. So glad I have that option! Sometimes to save time, you can't always go to the place that has the best price. This place is convenient, as it has lots of parking in the private lot in front, and there is (finally!) lots of shopping around it as well. So lots of selection. However, it's a big, bright store, which is well stocked. And we do go here on a regular basis for our grocery needs. They also sell lottery tickets

I missed going for a couple of weeks, and it gave me the winter BLAHs! LOL!! So, it's time to cheer up. This is not the biggest Farm Boy, but it's one of the older ones. I like that they sell things here that are not found elsewhere. And they offer a salad bar (presumably by weight), that looks intriguing, with wonderful large olives, and a variety of other fresh ingredients. I like their deli counter. You can get a sample items as you go along. I got slices of salami and wasn't sure which one to get, so I asked for a sample of that, and they gave it to me... Glad I asked too, because it was spicier than I would have liked! Farm Boy also makes their own versions of things, like a tasty, thick egg nog. There's a $1 surcharge for the bottle, which you get back when you return it empty. That's a nice touch! They also make house-brand salad dressings, and different oils which would make nice gifts. And generally every week I come back to see what flowers they have on display!! (Or that humongous pumpkin they are likely to have, leading up to Halloween. Watch for it!) So, I'll be back.
