Finished Cake with a candle added.
Jay B.

We have bought one cake here for my Brothers Birthday a week ago. This has been the only business we have given this place but the cake was very good. Chocolate Moose cake both light and very flavorful. They decorated it well with a custom name and "Happy Birthday" for us. We didn't order ahead, simple dropped in and picked up one of the standard offerings. It was frozen at the time and we ended up keeping it frozen for another week without a problem. Our original plans didn't work out. The physical location seemed clean and well ordered. It would not object to giving them more business in the future. It wasn't a large cake and still cost $30, but this seems like a average rate to me for a bakery. I would say the quality was better then the average grocery store cake.

Lemon loaf was delicious and better than the ones at Stubbe Chocolates. Due to covid restrictions, expect a small wait

Strawberry Blonde Bakery - Banana blueberry and banana choc chip muffins

Although there were freezers with items for sale, the more desirable, fresh offerings didn't seem plentiful. The woman behind the register was nice. I bought and took home 2 muffins. They were very dense and crumbly. Not very tasty. I could not eat either of them beyond a bite each. And this place isnt cheap. Maybe I am unsure of what kind of bakery this is. Uber healthy? I would try again here but would skip the muffins.

I neglected to say in my previous review, that the restaurant is vegan, as well as gluten free and Kosher. They also have a shop in Westboro, which is how I got to know of them, as it's close to where I usually work, but with COVID restrictions and working from home, I have been told they are still open there too (thanks Jennifer P!). I am really glad they have one in Kanata. Their pastries and cakes and cookies really are all delicious, and high calorie. Ok, they're decadent! I really can't wait till shut down orders are done, so that I can meet my knitting friends for a nosh and a coffee there. One day; one day... Meanwhile, this review is for today's visit. We just picked up coffee, which was ok. I have to admit that I had forgotten that they are vegan, which means they don't serve cow's milk, and they don't bake with it either. For my latte, I had a choice of oat, soy, or I believe coconut. I chose coconut because I don't like the other 2 choices. If I remember correctly, last time we were here, I think I took my black coffee home with me, and put milk in it; sacreligious, I know! Today, I did the same, as it turns out I am not fond of coconut 'milk' either. Oh well! Live and learn. Bravo, and good luck to Strawberry Blond.

Also support local We got 1 strawberry sundae + 1 chocolate sundae (unfortunately that one didn't make the cuts since we devoured that within seconds). The vanilla soft serve is SO incredibly good?!! Like wow. It's super soft and creamy- miles better than DQ. The young lady at the window was also super sweet and friendly! They also have a patio section with a few tables and benches & lots of variety on their menu! Do note that their sundaes come in only 1 size (which is pretty decent! Not too small and not too big, leaving you feel guilty afterwards. It's just the right size!) I will definitely be back to try their razzles next time since I've heard great things about it

Brett's Ice Cream is a little ice cream shop in Kanata. It's been around since 2013 but I only…read morelearned of it recently. It's a little shop with basically just a window where you order. It's a strip mall with an auto body shop. Not the most picturesque or romantic place, but the ice cream is good. You pretty much need to eat it in the parking lot (there are a few benches) or in your car. My husband and I went during the Phase 2 re-opening amidst the Covid-19 Pandemic, but I don't think they had to change their practices much because they were always takeout only with no place to sit and eat. There was absolutely no line up when we went on a Sunday afternoon in June. My husband is a traditionalist so he got a medium chocolate vanilla swirl in a waffle cone. It was $3.25 for a medium and an additional $0.75 for the waffle cone. I wanted to try their flavour burst which is flavour swirled into the ice cream in unique way (see photos). I got a small vanilla cone with cherry flavour burst. It was $2.25 for the small cone plus an additional $1 for the flavour burst. I enjoyed my cone. The ice cream was creamy and the flavour burst added a nice black cherry flavour to the cone. It wasn't too overwhelmingly sweet which was nice. I really want to try the Pina Colada flavour burst next time. Note that they only have soft serve ice cream. No hard/scoop ice cream. They do have milkshakes, slushies, slushie floats, sundaes, and Razzles, which are like Dairy Queen Blizzards or Mc Donald's McFlurries. Service was quick and courteous. I'm a huge fan. It's a bit of a trek to get to Kanata for me, but I would come back if I was in the area or planning to so other things in the area. Free parking in the parking lot that is shared with the auto shop.

The Long Version: Lokma is a chain from Montreal. They started off selling just Lokma, Turkish donuts. Then they got in on the Kogo (Korean corn dog) craze. And I only recently discovered that they've added smash burgers, poutine and fried chicken to their lineup. So multicultural. So Canadian, lol. I had the smash burgers at this location. I got them through the UberEats app and went to pick them up at the restaurant. They were $9.99 BOGO (buy one get one free), which is a good deal for these days. Note that they sell their smash burgers on UberEats under the name Smash Bros (and they sell their kogos under the name O'Kogo). The burger had lettuce and your choice of raw onions or caramelized onions. I chose the latter. You also get to choose the sauce. I got the "Biggie" sauce, which I think is inspired by McDonald's Big Mac sauce. I asked them to go easy on the sauce, which I think they did because the burger wasn't overly saucy. I like that the bun is plain without seeds. The beef patty was a good size and had good flavour. It wasn't as crispy around the edges as I like for smash burgers, but still a solid burger and I enjoyed it. I haven't had the namesake lokma at this location, but I've had them at other locations and I feel they are consistent between locations and always delicious. The inside of the restaurant is colourful and cheery. There's seating to eat in. This location is in a strip mall. There free parking in the strip mall parking lot. Review #90 (2025)

It's rather small and doesn't have too much selection. We got 2 pecan tarts ($2.50 each) and an almond croissant ($2.60). The almond croissant was ok. It only had a thin layer of ground almond paste in it. It tasted buttery and was flakey, and tasted better than almond croissants at grocery stores like Loblaws, but I expected more from a small bakery. The pecan tarts were ok. They had little pieces of candied fruits in it, like the stuff in fruitcake. I am not a fan of fruitcake nor am I a fan of candied fruits. If you like the aforementioned items, then perhaps you will like their little twist on pecan tarts. However, if you are not a fan like me, then you might want to pass. They had date squares (another thing I don't like), scones, macarons, and some other items. Not all items have prices listed. I may return to try some macarons, especially if they are only $1 each like a previous reviewer mentioned (the price was not listed in the store). Service was nice and friendly. There are 2 bistro tables for 2 inside the bakery, but it's mostly for takeout. Lots of free parking in the strip mall parking lot.
