This place is super cute and worth it! I took my daughters for a girls weekend and this did not disappoint!! The service was amazing and the food was delicious. The tea and macrons were so flavorful! The neighborhood has so many places and in a great area. We would definitely come back for the full experience. Thank you!

Wide colorful variety of macarons and desserts, but I thought the macarons tasted pretty standard. Maybe it's the ones I tried, but I thought some of them were overly sweet, making one macaron more than enough for me. Regardless, these were very eye-catching and might be cute to bring somewhere as a gift. I just wished they came in proper macaron boxes - ours came in a plastic box that could have easily shaken up and broken the macarons. Luckily my group was eating them right away.

My Mom and Aunt's tea platter.

During a recent visit to Ottawa, I took my Mom and Aunt for tea. The shop is adorable, parking was quite easy and the staff went above and beyond to make sure we were happy. We all had the Afternoon Tea but mine was the gluten free version. The assortment of items was a great deal for $40 ($42 for gluten free) and none of us finished all of our food. It was nice having goodies to take home and enjoy the next day. Each of us received a small fruit salad, 4 yummy tea sandwiches, scones (2 gluten free for me), three macarons each of our choice, croissants for my Mom and Aunt, lemon cake, chocolate tart, jam, clotted cream and our choice of tea. I think it is the perfect place to come for tea and they offer a Children's tea and a vegan tea, along with the gluten free. I would recommend that you call in advance if you have food sensitivities. We really had a delightful time.

Ok so this place is across the street from my parents house. So we come here a lot. I gave it 3 stars because unfortunately the macaroons and desserts are not always fresh! So maybe you need to ask before you pick. I love their rose macaroon. We also tried their afternoon tea, it's almost the same price as the one at the Fairmont. It was good but not as the price suggests! I also ordered once a funky Father's Day cake macaroon they offered which was very unique..

Quelque Chose Patisserie recently opened up their second location in my neighbourhood (apparently their first location is in Vanier, but I've never been there). I love macarons, so I had to check them out. I went today with my mom and we bought a box of 6 macarons for $13.50. There were a lot of different flavours to choose from. We got pina colada, strawberries and cream, passionfruit chocolate, dulce de leche with puffed quinoa, pistachio, and cherry. The maracons were very aesthetically pleasing, and looked professionally made (unlike the ones I got at Sweet Castle, lol). Taste-wise they were good, although some were cloyingly sweet and others were just right. The macarons had that initial meringue-like crunch then that softness inside that was perfect. None of them were dry or stale, like I've had at The French Baker :( I'm not sure why the pina colada one was blue?!? I love pina colada, but this maracon tasted slightly artificial in flavour and was way too sweet. The passionfruit chocolate was my favourite of the lot as it wasn't too sweet and the slight bitterness of the chocolate complimented the slight sourness of the passionfruit flavour very well. Service was excellent. Staff were very nice and patient while I chose my flavours. When I asked if the macarons were baked on-site, I was told that they bake their macarons at the Vanier location and ship them to the Westboro location. They also sell imported juices, teas and jams from France. The bakery is very pretty looking, and they also sell little cakes and croissants. Everything is a bit on the pricey side, so I doubt I will be going there often, but as an occasional treat I would definitely come back for more maracons and would love to try out their other pastries.

Came here for afternoon tea as it was the only location they are currently offering it during covid. Reservations are required as they only have 2 tables open. The butter biscuit and croissant are fresh and tasty. The macarons are a hit or miss as one or two of them were hard so they were either overcooked or left overnight. We really liked the red velvet, Nutella, pistachio, and lavender one. The finger sandwiches were pretty substandard. In regards to the tea selection, I really like the Thé des Alizés

Quick friendly service. Fantastic Sunday's and Macaroons. A must try if you are in Westboro, or around town.

This place has a huge following. Maybe I have always just gotten the wrong items at the wrong times…read morebecause I am not as enamoured of this place as the vast majority of people seem to be. My first visit was many moons ago, when French macarons were just becoming popular in North America. I had had macarons for the first time at a bakery in Toronto called Nadege and I will forever compare all macarons to the ones I had there, lol. At the time, I did not know of any place in Ottawa that sold them, then some time later, I had heard that The French Baker had them, so I was so excited to try them. I was so disappointed though. They were hard and tasted stale to me. That put me off trying anything else there for years. However, I believe in second chances and even third chances. Unfortunately, I can't say that any of the subsequent items I've had there blew me away. Their cupcakes are tiny and drier than I like. Their palmiers are rich and buttery though, but also tiny, lol. Good for portion control, I suppose ;) People love this place, so maybe you will too. As for me, I would eat it if someone bought me some food from this bakery, but it's unlikely I would return and buy something for myself there. It's in the Byward Market, so like most places there, street parking only.

TL;DR: Delicious fluffy decadent doughnuts in a cafe in a large shopping plaza complex…read more After a healthy salad lunch next door, my husband and I decided to get some doughnuts for dessert. Life is all about balance, right? Lol. I got the Pêche et Fraise (Peach and Strawberry) which is a jelly doughnut covered in powdered sugar. Doughnuts are $4.50 each. My husband got the Tour de Chapeau (which translates to Hat Trick) which is a yeast doughnut with chocolate glaze, covered with chocolate crumbs and drizzled with white chocolate. It is not a filled doughnut. We shared both doughnuts. I always prefer filled doughnuts, but I was a bit disappointed with the filling of my doughnut. It tasted like pureed peaches and strawberries true to its name, but the texture was like applesauce which wasn't yummy, at least in my opinion. I would have preferred either more of a jelly texture or a peach and strawberry-flavoured custard. So surprisingly, I enjoyed my husband's doughnut more. The Tour de Chapeau was so fluffy and soft. The chocolate toppings were sweet and decadent. The crumbs gave it a nice subtle crunch. Service was courteous. There was only one person working and customers before me ordered specialty drinks so the wait was a bit long. They also sell ice cream, in addition to doughnuts, cookies, sandwiches and coffee/tea. There's indoor seating as well as outdoor seating. They have 2 arcade machines, Ms Pac-man and Mortal Kombat. They also had some boardgames available for customers. I saw Battleship and Connect Four. Lots of parking available in the shopping plaza parking lot. (153)
