This is my local Dollarama. I first discovered Dollarama back when I was a student of limited funds…read moreliving in Montreal (where Dollarama seems to have had a monopoly, because it was the only brand of dollar store around, unlike here in Ottawa where we have Dollar Tree and other independent dollar stores). However, this was back when everything was legitimately a dollar. Nowadays, they have items up to $5 or so. Anyway, back then, I was amazed at all the household items I could get at Dollarama, and admittedly most items in my tiny studio apartment were from Dollarama, haha.
So after I graduated and started earning a decent income, I stopped shopping at Dollarama, but then one day popped in to browse for old times sake, and they have totally upped their game! Dollarama has some seriously cool stuff, lol. Like Funko Pops for $4! And limited edition chocolate bars, like Green Tea Kit Kats, Inside Out Reese's peanut butter cups, etc. for $0.82. I've spotted Method brand hand soaps, Live Clean brand sunscreen, Batiste dry shampoo, Biore face wash, like legit brand names, not just sketchy brands you've never heard of, lol. They even had organic rice cakes.
So all this is to say, I once again like Dollarama. While I still feel that many of their items are poor quality, and I'd rather pay a little more for better quality items, they do have some items that other stores carry and charge more for, and they have some unusual items that you can't find at other stores, or have been discontinued at other stores.
This location in Carlingwood Mall is very spacious. It's in the basement, but there are stairs, escalators, and an elevator. Lots of free parking in the mall parking lot.
