I was VERY happy when Dollarama opened so close to me. It's quite large for a downtown store, with a generally good selection. I frequent it at least twice a month, often more. Though some of Dollarama's prices have become more expensive than grocery stores, you can still find good deals on essentials.
I can only give it (barely) three stars, though, because while most of the staff is friendly and helpful, there's one notable exception: the security guard. EVERY time I go in, he follows me around - upstairs and down - peeking into my cart or basket, standing with arms folded watching my every move from the end of the aisle. Every. Single. Time. It's downright creepy, not to mention highly offensive.
I don't know why he's targeted me as being a potential thief. I've NEVER stolen anything from there (nor from anywhere else), nor have I ever seen him shadow any other shopper when I've been in. I'm so tired of it, I'm thinking of trekking to the Dollarama on Elgin like I used to have to do before this one opened. Smaller and less of a selection, but no creepy security guard stalking me. read more
