As soon as you walk in you realize this isn't your average thrift store. The store is well laid out, organized and has that fantastic smell of used gear (but in a good way); it all brings back good memories of the past. They have a good assortment of records (yes vinyl is making a comeback). And they are dirt cheap; mostly costing less than a buck! I picked up two records and it cost me a toonie. How great is that!! The store shelves are organized in a great way, great friendly and inviting owners, wonderful jazz music was playing in the background, housewares, books, clothing, toys, electronics and even furniture were available to snap up. Be careful, walk into Junk in the Trunk and you'll be walking into a time-warp that you may not want to leave.

It's no future shop, but if you know what you're looking for you can save a ton of money. On…read moreAugust 5, 2026 at around 2:00 p.m. witnessed a remarkable scene with a would be thief attempting to run out of the store with a huge rectangular box. I was at the Customer Service desk for a return and heard the clerk say "not again" and I turned around to see Gary vehemently engaged in a tug of war with a large rectangular box the thief was attempting to leave the store with. Gary was very strong and determined to save this stock, Gary succeeded in saving the Walmart stock after several minutes of intense pushing and pulling. I was so impressed with him and the store greeter who had to endure the would be thief chasing after them and screaming at them. They did more than their job in defending the store and the goods and was impressed with their professionalism. It was truly a sight to see how the staff risk their lives and take their job and Walmart stock so seriously. I hope Walmart appreciates and honors people like Gary and the Store greeter for the valuable and loyal employees they are.

Yesterday we bought a roast chicken from the Walmart on 130Ave SE Calgary. my Son bit into a…read moredrumstick and I saw blood running out of the drumstick. He had already swallowed the bite before we could stop him. The rest of the chicken was pink and raw. When my husband returned it to the Walmart, he asked to speak to a manager. An assistant manager showed up half an hour later and said he MIGHT be able to refund the purchase. My husband asked If he thought that was an appropriate response given that the chicken had made our son sick, that our dinner was ruined, the time spent in driving as well as the gas it took. The assistant manager said he need to speak to a manager. Another half hour later, he returned and offered us a $20 gift Voucher. At no time did he apologize or express regret, instead he was surly. I am shocked that roast chicken would not be checked by a meat thermostat prior to being put out for sale, and shocked that bringing food poisoning to their attention appears to be an irritant for Walmart employees. The batch was brought in a huge rolling tray, I wonder how many others became ill from Walmart chicken. Walmart could have addressed this appropriately but chose not to. We have photographs of the chicken and a medical report for our son from the ER, perhaps legal action is the only way to get Walmart.s attention. In the meantime, be careful buying food from Walmart

I came in looking to rent a helium tank. All they had were the big tanks for $80/day. A big tank is totally not what I needed, way to big in fact. The guy helping me suggested one of the disposable helium tanks... but those are crap. The balloons last for like 2 hrs before they start floating down to the ground. 3 if you're lucky. Anyway, this is where the staff member launched into an explanation about what makes your balloons last a really long time. He took me over to their helium tank and proceeded to show me the extra latex coating they use to coat every balloon (which apparently helps the balloon stay afloat for like 3-5 days). I was thankful for the extra info, and for the fact that he didn't try and talk me into renting the tank anyway. He did apologize for not having what I needed and suggested maybe trying Praxair for my own tank if I were going to use it often. Anyway, customer service like that can be hard to find. You'll see me checking out Canuck again sometime for other party things!

Don't expect to find designer goods at marked down prices. You will only find brands you've never heard of before at fictionally marked down prices. "The comparable value on the on the price ticket or sign shows you the price another retailer charges or would likely charge for the same or comparable value item." So according to the sign, these items aren't necessarily sold anywhere else, nor have they ever been sold successfully by a business for more money. They have tags that make them look like they've been marked down but they never have been. Feels a bit deceptive, doesn't it? Further more, this store has had a "closing sale" for years now. How long do you get to run a going out of business sale, before that's just your business' regular price? They've recently brought in new winter stock that they merchandize on displays at the front like any other retail. Are you really having a going out of business sale when you're bringing new items every week? Seems like a scam, folks. Well, that and an excuse to have the place be a complete mess. That said... I bought an ugly Christmas sweater. If you can block out all of the sale nonsense, there's a chance you might find something for cheap that is worth the amount of money you will pay. Yes, the quality is cheap too, but it might be worth it. In this instance, $20 for a low quality Christmas sweater seemed worth it to me. So when you see row of suits on for $70 with a sign next to them that says "compare at $350," just know that those suits have never been sold for $350 anywhere - merely that somewhere out there, there's a store that sells $350 suits. Throw that large number away and look at the final price compared with the quality of the clothing and you still might find something worth wearing. But if you're in the market for inexpensive clothing above all else, I think you'd be better off shopping at Wal-Mart. At least then you know what you're getting.

They make room for the biggest, most ridiculous games like Gloomhaven and other "big box" stuff. They're also priced extremely competitively. While they can't necessarily match Amazon for every price, they certainly do with most of their stuff. They have a lot of games Amazon Canada doesn't carry.
