"My momma always said... Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get." -Forrest Gump My Daddy once told me..."Boy! Money don't grow on no damn trees" -Me Well Daddy... You. Was. Wrong. Cause the Dollar Tree in Thousand Oaks be making it Rain... All. Day. Long. ____________________________________________________________ So here we are in the middle of a Global Pandemic where life as we once knew it has been completely turned upside down. Never in a million years would I have expected to be going through what we are all 'Going Through', but here we are, and the life we once knew is slowly, but surely returning back to our 'new normal'. Despite what is happening around us, life Must go on and we Shall continue to push ahead and celebrate Life's big moments. Yesterday I stopped into the Dollar Tree to pick up some balloons and miscellaneous party decorations for my daughters 2nd Birthday. They had everything I needed and I gladly spent the last hour blowing up balloons to make her surprise in the morning that much more special. After I found what I needed, I did a quick spin through the aisles and was very impressed by their selection of merchandise, the tidy organization of product and the thought that this is a place I never would have thought would have so many things I needed and at a fraction of the price. From housewares, kitchen supplies, garden tools, party decorations, toiletries, and basic essentials, the Dollar Tree has got you covered. Each Aisle is well organized and the layout of the store is methodically set for ease of locating whatever it is you are looking for. So the next time you need some last minute supplies or want to throw an impromptu pool party, the Dollar Tree will be happy to take all your Washington's.

Closed just passed 8pm w/ no store hours posted near or on the door.

3rd time I come here and it's closed early w/ no store hours posted at the facility and according to the ones online it's supposed to be open all the 3 times I've attended!!! First time on a week day and the other 2 on weekends (a Monday, Friday and today being a Sunday) . Some people are friendly to be specific the African American teenager and the older caucasian female, the young gentleman has helped me out a couple times when the manager has been in the office going off on 2 employees for clock in/clock out issues... yes I heard the tea as the office right next to the register and everything could be heard. To the manager also please stay calm when you are short staff and you hear customers complaining about 1 register being open this was around Valentine's when everyone was in there last min balloon shopping.

To Corporate... If you have cameras that pick up conversations; check at this time! Awful, awful, awful!
    Evelyn B.

I waited in a line of ten people, I saw two give up and walk out; when I got to the register, I said "are you the only one here?". She replied yes, but that she did not mind her working conditions. I responded "You may not mind, but YOUR customers do!". Her response "IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT, SHOP ELSEWHERE!" I kid you not! Can you even imagine? And get this.... the woman who had the gull to utter such nonsense was wearing a tag that proclaimed she was the SUPERVISOR! (Sheri) When I mentioned, writing a review... her voice seemed to drop an octave and she claimed Cor management was not providing enough hours. (whatever that means) If I were corporate and in a store where I heard a cashier (SUPERVISOR) speaking to a CUSTOMER in such a manner, I would FIRE her on the spot and apologize to every customer in the store. Absolutely unacceptable! shame, shame, shame, shame, shame! I understand we're living in difficult times, but if you're unable to properly staff your stores, you should consider closing them. I love the Dollar Tree, have always enjoyed shopping there and finding great value, but today's incident is unacceptable!

Instead of verifying a same-day receipt, the associate (Fariba) and her manager defaulted to suspicion rather than verification. A receipt from a purchase made just hours earlier should have been the primary reference point. They relied on an internal process failure involving a missing "red tag" that was not on the item when sold and attempted to shift that burden onto the customer. That is a store issue, not a customer issue. There was no acknowledgment that closed fitting rooms directly affect return rates, and no adjustment in how the situation was handled. They did not account for context or apply basic flexibility in resolving the return. The interaction became repetitive and defensive rather than solution-focused. The lack of listening, judgment, and basic problem-solving made a simple return unnecessarily difficult. They should be embarrassed that this is their level of customer service over a $28 shirt. Fariba continued talking throughout the interaction, repeatedly trying to prove her point without resolving the issue. I ultimately had to ask her to stop talking so much and focus on the return, rather than continuing the back-and-forth. NO CUSTOMER SHOULD EVER HAVE THIS EXPERIENCE.

Satire Alert!!! Satire Alert!!! Satire Alert!!!…read more I said I would never do it... I vowed to keep my opinions to myself.... But after coming to the Grocery Outlet just once... I can proudly say that I will be 100% wearing my "MAGA" hat the next time I shop here! ----Notice the MAGA hats in quotes---- Hey, blame it on the economic policies... Say what you want about political reform... But at the Grocery Outlet in Thousand Oaks... They are definitely all about........ M-aking A-ffordable G-roceries A-gain Ok, I knew they would get YOUR attention! ***Politics have now left the chat*** Alright, enough of that crazy talk, let's get down to brass tacks, shall we? Nowadays, in today's economy, no matter who you are, a deal is a deal, and when you find a good deal, you best act on it. Well, on my first visit to the Grocery Outlet earlier this year, I acted on it. Upon walking in, it initially looks like any other grocery store chain that you've been to. Clean floors, bright lighting, & well stocked aisles... But as you actually make your way down those aisles and you start looking at the prices, you will definitely understand why they say this is a "bargain market" (in a good way). Yeah, at the Grocery Outlet, each item on their shelves has a yellow price tag with the Grocery Outlets price and then a price under that saying Elsewhere's price (which is always more of course). Hey, call it good marketing (pun intended) or just call it plain 'ol discounting psychology 101, in which our brains perceive the value of something and the need/want for that said item, especially when it's a clear was vs now pricing scenario. As consumers, especially in a Capitalist world, we can always justify the saving of money especially when it's around purchasing essential things that we need versus non-essential things that we just want. And groceries are definitely more of a need, but can easily turn into a want especially if you go on an empty stomach. Pro Tip: Never, Ever go the grocery store hungry! But not only do they have really great prices here, but I saw items that I've literally never seen at any other grocers and I've been to them all. This location, located in the heart of Thousand Oaks offers some great values that would definitely make it worth your while to come check them out for yourself. I did google if Grocery Outlet accepts manufacturers coupons, in which it said they did not, but they do occasionally offer their own store-specific coupons as well as digital deals on the Grocery Outlet app so definitely download that. So... Are ready to shop, save & get in on the deals? I'll see you at Grocery Outlet in 1000 Oaks, CA.

The money they make comes from selling donated goods, so it's incredibly disappointing to see prices that put those same items out of reach for the people who shop there looking for affordable options. What makes it even more frustrating is being asked at checkout if I want to round up and donate even more. When you're already charging prices like this on donated merchandise, it feels completely tone-deaf. A nonprofit should be focused on making donated items accessible to the community, not pricing them like a retail furniture store. This experience was disappointing and honestly makes me question whether Goodwill is still serving the people it's supposed to help.

Upon entering, I can see that it is busy and smelling good too. Pretty good sized store. I have noticed that there are no discount days like how it is in the SF Valley. Except Mondays for military and first responders. Comparing the prices to other Goodwill stores, I find their prices cheaper. Like the 2 branded purses that I have checked. Michael Kors bag was $29.99. Tory Burch was $49.99. In other stores it would have been much higher than that. I looked around and saw a gently worn Kids shoes for $5.99, Towel for $2.99 and a skirt for $4.99. It was a good shopping experience. No line at the register so it was a fast transaction. *Private parking that is shared with other businesses. *I haven't noticed a restroom nor a fitting room.
