I just went to the Dollar Store at 5041 Almaden Expy, San Jose, CA 95118 I've avoided it for YEARS because it was unorganized and dirty. I went there today and was pleasantly surprised. It's organized, employees were extra nice and the store was very clean. I highly recommend you try returning and enjoying the new environment. read more

This Dollar Tree is the best I've ever been to. The staff is so friendly and very helpful. They are actually there in the isles to help you! The store is clean and well kept and has a good selection. Great management read more

HORRIBLE customer service they always have so much attitude especially the Mexican woman they have no respect and act like they're irritated by your presence I always thought they were a great dollar tree because it's a fellow neighborhood store but I'm actually disappointed in such behavior I've dealt with and I'm being generous giving a one star read more

Do not put a toy coin machine in your store just to gain money and not have the key when its eating up customers money and not giving out the toy. You think I want to call an 800 number for 50 cents. Its the principle of the fact and the customer service is very poor, they had no care what so ever. read more

This was the filthiest, messiest Dollar tree I've ever been to. Crap strewn everywhere. I thought it was a joke because it was early in the morning! Can't see shop in such a wreck of a store. Not only filthy but dangerous. Clean your store. Straighten and face before opening up to the public. Unbelievable! read more

Customer attention and personability make coming to this location worthwhile. Andrea's ability to treat every individual as a person with conversation and laughter on a real level was outstanding. It's not every day that you leave a store in better spirits thanks to your cashier. read more

I was on hold for 30 minutes for a stock check and they never got back to me but instead ended up hanging up on me. We walked into the store and the "manager," who then backtracked and said that they were only the "assistant manager" had started to argue with us about it instead of taking feedback about maybe training employees on phone etiquette. Cathy is a miserable employee and doesn't know how to deal with customer service properly. read more

Dollar Tree - I was on hold for close to 30mins before they just hung up on me. - Discount Store Near Me - San Jose, California

I came here because it was super close to my boyfriend's work and i needed some DIY supplies for christmas presents! AND CHEAP WRAPPING PAPER!! (good because people throw them away anyways...) this store is suuuuper small compared to the ones that ive been to before. It's not that organized, especially when you walk in. pretty cramped. The christmas section is kinda off to the side, and omg, parts of the products there were trashed! ): so sad. they didnt even clean it up! Regarding their variety of things and the supply that they have -- not so good. They ran out of candles!!! so i got some mismatched ones.. sigh. and they have a small selection of housewares and toys and other junk. They only have 2 registers open and there were so many people! the line was half way to the end of the store. oh dear. Overall, its okay, but i wouldnt come here if i was looking for a bigger variety of things. Not too many knick knacks and small! read more

Love this place!! I've been here many times before but I felt inspired to write a review because of my experience today. I went to the store with a list and left with many things I didn't know I needed (as it always goes). When I went to check out, the line was very long with only a single checkstand open. This gave me the opportunity to see the cashier Jasmine interact with many customers. She was always pleasant, kind, and was able to ring people up efficiently while still taking the time to give each person their due attention. I was really impressed by her professional and warm demeanor! I will always love me a dollar store but when you have such a wonderful experience like I did today, it helps you love it all the more! read more

It's been a while since I came in, this morning I had a pleasant experience checking out with an employee I have not seen before. Older gentleman super nice and great to have had a quick conversation with. Since I walked in he's very attentive with everyone and for the first time at dollar tree I had an experience worth writing a review for lol 9:30 am morning shift, first cashier when you walk in, you made my morning great by your kindness and wonderful greet, not just me but to everyone who walked in or anyone leaving. Sometimes it's great receiving the same service you give at work daily. Makes a difference Thank you sir! read more

NEGATIVE STARS!! Went to this Dollar Tree to get balloons for my moms birthday. The guy working in front pointed me to a wall and I went to find balloons when a lady who works there SANDY came up to me and said "this is all we have." I asked for a 5 & 0 balloon and took it back to the guy who was ringing me up. Me: do you blow these up "holding the 5-0." Him: "no there's a straw that blows it up." The lady SANDY: *from a different register shouts-"I told her that already. What part of (my) English don't you understand?" Talked to the manager Kassandra who apologized. I FEEL SORRY FOR YOU SANDY. YOU HATE YOUR LIFE AND JOB SO MUCH YOU HAVE TO PUT OTHERS DOWN. read more

Went here hoping to get what my wife needed, but didn't find it. The work said this is one of the smaller Dollar Tree so they wouldn't have much like the big stores would. read more

I recently went here to get a few items and found it a depressing place to shop. There is a large group of homeless that hang out at the front of the store. When I went inside I found they were extremely low on stock here on just about everything. It was just sad. I love shopping at Dollar Tree stores for the bargains especially on the basics but this store does not even compare to any of the other Dollar Tree stores in the Bay Area. It proves one thing that is for sure, not all stores are alike. read more

Dropped by and noticed it was a fairly smaller Dollar tree than it's sister stores. Though they did have the same on inventory and supplies as any other would. Staff: All of the staff were very helpful and willing to go the extra mile to help you out! Great customer service:) Location: Plaza behind the car wash station which also had plenty of parking space read more

It's a normal Dollar Tree- great stuff for $1. The guy who rang me up was very polite, enthusiastic and patient (I stood there picking out the balloons I wanted while customers waited). I had NO idea they had mylar balloons, which is why I went in (saw someone walking out with a few), and was pleasantly surprised with the selection. I am definitely going back for every ocassion that calls for balloons! read more

Dollar Tree - Some mylar balloons - Discount Store Near Me - San Jose, California

Wow, my first time at a Dollar Store and I was impressed! I needed some various party supplies for a baby shower I'm helping throw, and a friend recommended this store to me. Very close to my house, and easy to go to in the evening when the parking lot isn't filled with Scramblz patrons. I was suprirsed by their selection and of course, all for a buck each! Picked up some decorations, baby boy napkins, and tablecloths. Brought my mom the next day for some party bowls for a BBQ we're throwing, and she was thoroughly impressed as well! Can't believe we haven't been to one sooner! We were totally getting jipped at Party City! read more

This is my neighborhood Dollar Tree, unfortunately it isn't one of the better ones. I used to work in the Alum Rock area and was spoiled by the organization and HUGENESS of the McKee store. This one is often REALLY messy (I mean, they all are but this one is usually just trashed!). It is in a congested parking area so it can be difficult to get a spot, especially on the weekend. Dollar Tree in general is a great stop especially for broke teacher like me. You get what you pay for. Don't expect awesomeness but eh, what do expect for things made by enslaved 7 year olds.... SO anyhow, not the best Dollar Tree out there, but it'll work in a pinch read more

This is a decent size Dollar Tree, but if you're familiar with the area, you know getting in and out of that lot is conducive to stress. That whole area right off of 85/Almaden is highly congested. I was searching for something specific and unfortunately didn't find it at this location. Thankfully the other location on Almaden (and Koch) was easy to access and had what I needed. read more

I've had great experiences in this store in the past, but the last few times I have been the man at the checkout was so rude! I mean just plain rude and for no reason at all. He seems to hate his job. He is Caucasian, scruffy beard and thinning short/bald head. I would consider making sure the person at checkout makes your customers want to come back. I have been going to the dollar tree further up the road since he has been working. Too bad. read more

I was running from store to store trying to find a specific item for a funeral and Angie the manager from this specific store dropped what she was doing and dug in the warehouse and inventory to help me. I never had anyone care so much. I am in tears for her kindness and care. This store is smaller then the other two near me but it's clean neat and organized. read more

Went here today (Thanksgiving) and Angie the manager was awesome. She over heard me say that I was going to check the other dollar tree store for an item I wanted and she asked me what I was looking for and came out with a box of them. Im sure if she didn't have it in stock she would have called other stores to make sure I left happy. The line moved quickly bc the manager made sure the registers were staffed with cashiers. I had a great experience... Customer service at its best. read more

The buck starts here. You can afford anything in the whole store--so go ahead and pick out whatever you want! Stroke your ego at this well organized Dollar Store. I come here for 50 cent cards and gift bags. You can also get cheap kitsch for whatever holiday is coming up. Don't forget your $1 bunny ears for Easter. There's lots of inexpensive "crafts" which will keep young kids entertained on a budget. It's also easy to stock up on essential household items like notebooks, sponges, duct tape, paper towels and bungee cords. I'm not adventurous enough to buy food here. But if you don't believe in expiration dates, shop away. Scramblz is in the same shopping center--so while you're waiting for breakfast, you can browse through aisles of imported carcinogens. There's a decent chance that almost every product in the Dollar Store is made of some leeching plastic soaked in lead. But hey--everything is a buck. read more

It's a Dollar Store people. If you are looking for party supplies on the CHEAP, including wrapping paper, then this is your value meal. Keep in mind that when I went, I had a lady before me leave her full cart at the register because her check bounced. It ain't classy. It ain't pretty. But... It's Cheap! Just be careful with those items "made in China," especially toys for kids. read more

Located really close to the freeway 85 so that's convenient, just jump off real quick grab a few things and keep moving. Working with children I need to get a lot of little prizes and goodie bags and things here and there for projects and with everything being a dollar I'd say it's pretty great, budget friendly. Customer service: I would say there is very minimal interaction between employees and customers...in all of the times I have visited I only spoken to them at the register and like the basic stuff like, would you like a bag? Your total is 21.xx and thank you. It's the dollar store I don't need crazy great customer service, but it would be nice Clean and organized: this location is very clean and organized, the shelves are stocked and the size of the store is pretty large. Parking: there is always parking in the lot, just be careful and patient when pulling out onto almaden express way it can get a little hectic with the entrance to 85 right after the light I will continue to frequent this store read more

This store has a great selection. Unfortunately no employee keeps up with the store. You would expect it would be clean enough to walk through the store. 99.9% of the time it is a complete reck. Its the type of store were you want to get your item and get out. Poor service, managers are slow responders for a back up cashier. Its usually 2 people in the store. I wish they would have more employees on the floor cleaning up. The bathrooms are vandalized and completely dirty. Also be careful some food may be expired at this store. read more

I love $ Tree but this ones is kinda jacked. Its pretty much always a mess, but they have a decent variety of stuff. Of course not as much as the Campbell store cuase its much smaller. But they always have the baby wipes I'm looking for, yummy snacks, beef jerky, 3 liters of Shasta and 5 packs of Big Red gum! BF & I went in tonite and the cashier Tammy was THE BEST! Very friendly and totally helpful. She even went to the other registers looking for the Big Red I was craving, until she found some. 2 stars for her! read more

Really, people? It's a Dollar Tree! This one is my favorite by far (not like I've been to many) as it has everything that I specifically go to purchase. Namely, a great cleaning supply selection, gift wrapping items, cards, and picture frames. I've never found it to be messy or excessively dirty and it's my go to for the aforementioned. That being said, I go maybe two to three times a year only. The weekend before Christmas, I swung by to pick up gift wrapping items. The store was neat, and the Christmas items were well organized. Gift boxes were mostly in packages of 2-3 depending on size for only a dollar, and gift bags were similarly priced. This is a huge discount compared to stores like Target or even Michael's, so I suggest you check this place out first for your holiday wrapping needs. They also have a wide variety of gift tags and gift labels for a buck. There was a ton of great little holiday knickknacks also, for coworkers or to serve as stocking stuffers. I was tempted to buy a musical holiday necktie for next year's ugly sweater contest, but decided against it. I also randomly found some DVDs here for a buck and they were fairly new releases (2011 to current). They weren't the greatest flicks, but I grabbed a bunch for my dad. The cashiers have always been pleasant, and while the lines can be long, I've seen them open additional registers to accommodate shoppers. Highly recommended for gift wrapping boxes on the cheap. P.S. Entering from Almaden Expressway is a pain, so enter via Cherry Avenue for less of a hassle. read more

Came to this store thinking it was bigger and would have a better selection... I was wrong. Store is poorly stocked and when you ask if they have something in the back it was an automatic no. They were stocking a few things and not even willing to check to see if the item was there. Store is dirty and several things on the floor. Cashier wasn't friendly when you approach. Typical "I hate my job" vibe. After I paid she said "You're done. Cart goes over there!" Guess I'll stick with the store on Snell. read more

Worse customer service experience. Not that I expect a good one from a dollar tree, but your cashier (white older bald male) needs to get an attitude adjustment and not throw a fit when customers dont have a smaller bill than a $10. Not my fault your boss isn't giving you enough money to give change for a $10 bill. read more

I do not really know what to say about this business, as it is a simple business that have a lot of item at a very cheap price. I will say this dollar tree facility is usually kept very clean and usually the shelf are well stocked with item. I know they do changes items from time to time, but you can always find something you need here. The Staff is friendly and helpful if you ask, but again going in to this store is not like walking to to Macy's at Valley Fair. The items here work and at a dollar you really can not go wrong. read more

Stopped here with the husband the other day. He had never been to the Dollar Tree and I have never been to this location. So disappointed here though. Not all Dollar Trees are created equal it seems. This one is small compared to the one in Campbell that I visit. They didn't have half of the tacky things that the other Dollar Tree has. It was just not the same experience. However, they did have some of the freshest Good & Plenty you could ever hope to buy. And the husband got several pairs of reading glasses (he loses everything so cheap ones are good!) here. Was going to give 3 stars but took one off for the unfriendly cashier that loved to chat with the guy in front of me but then all conversation ceased as soon as I stepped up. Huh? Was it the weird hair? What? Do I look like I should be shopping elsewhere? Ok, usually I do! But sometimes I need a Good & Plenty fix and I may have to come back here again for that. It will probably be all though. read more

I'll give **** 4 stars for specific items. If your on a budget and want to cut costs on toothpaste, soap, cleaning supplies, misc kitchen utensils, x-mas gift wrapping, b-day, etc.... this is the place to get those and related items. $1 each, can't beat that. You will pay double + in the grocery store for name brand toothpaste which is what they carry here. Just one example. Basically, the store is good for daily non edible consumable items. I'd stay away from the food items as a lot are off brands that I have never heard of. Guess it would be like getting generic drugs? Safeway is basically across the street and the new Whole Foods is 3 minutes away for basic groceries. (Trader Joe's and Costco is also a few minutes away) Don't expect to see a well run efficient store here, there may be stuff in the isles and boxes lying around, etc..... What do ya expect for a $1 store? read more

This is my least favorite dollar tree. the employees seem burned out, the bathroom is beyond sketchy, it's old and run down. This is in a shopping center near la victoria, scramblez, etc. they appear to have had two bathrooms in the past, but now one is solely for employees, leaving two blue signs, one for each gender, on the remaining bathroom. that would be fine... if the bathroom locked, which it doesnt. therefore, as a female, you walk in past a filthy urinal to get to the stall. the soap dispenser has no lid, the tp isn't on the dispenser, etc. I know this is a discount store, but, ugh. My client loves dollar trees, but she can spend hours here. I was exhausted one day, while she was perusing the band-aids for the umpteenth time this month. I sat down on the ground, out of the way of any foot traffic. An employee came over and told me I am not allowed to sit. I understand if that is the policy, maybe they have an issue with transient loiterers. nonetheless, it was a bit of a turn off. I really avoid coming here whenever possible. read more

Absolutely filthy store with junk thrown all over the floor. You cannot get down the aisles with all the stuff down there. Things were opened up and tossed back on the shelves too. I was amazed that no one was even doing anything about it. And what is so special about dollar gum and dollar candy bars and dollar wrapping paper. Big woop. I have been, seen and will not be back. Big Lots is much better. Once is enough for me. read more

This location is wayyyy better (cleaner, better variety) than the one I usually go to off Blossom Hill next to Michaels. It's a dollar tree so I can't say that I expect anything here to be top notch. I always go here to get party supplies, decorations, cards (way cheaper than hallmark), gift wrap, gift bags, water, soda, chips etc. You get what you pay for on most items so if you want it to last forever, don't buy it here. It's PERFECT for getting stuff for camping or tailgating since you're going to throw it away after one use. It's a fun store and I am a repeat shopper. read more
