Arrived at Costco today before they opened at 9:00am. There were a lot of people already there, all lined up. Just before they opened, an employee announced that today they were enforcing their 9:00am shopping time for executive members only. All other memberships have to come back at 10:00am. Luckily I have an executive membership. Several people had to leave because of this new rule. Even with the new rule, it was still crazy busy inside. Right after you enter and they scan your membership card, they had muffins, cookies and bottles of water for the executive members. I thought that was very nice. The meat department was lacking today. They hadn't put out all the beef. So I had to wait until they stocked the meat fridge. Prices on meat have sure gone up. But still think, price wise, Costco is your best bet. read more

I like this Costco it's super close to my home, the only bad part is the parking lot since it is a big shopping center it gets super busy. They always have great deals and prices. I used to love checking out the wine department while shopping here. Went last week and the place looked like a gang came in and stole half the merchandise. No plexiglass lock up to display high end wines, many empty display crates. Just went in today and they removed half of the department! Crazy, especially at this time of the year. They put out pallets of jug wine where the other half of the department used to reside. Corporate at this location have no clue. could be more than the wine section going down hill, as the produce seems problematic too, with asparagus rotting and berries looking inedible. This is definitely my go to Costco based on proximity and variety of items. It's always crowded, but sometimes going early does help. The staff are always friendly and nice. We tried the tire center and unfortunately didn't have a great experience there. Always great for deals and bulk item buys. Would highly recommend if you're in the area. read more

My Mom started feeling similar symptoms started on 12/06/24 that she couldn't sleep because of intense stomach pain all night to morning then she threw up and had discomfort feeling in her stomach, shivering and diarrhea, headache and also effected on her vision and she can't see as same as before this sickness. She couldn't drink or eat for 3 days too. She couldn't find an appointment to see the doctor asap that time and since she had so much pain and at the same time I was sick I couldn't take her to the emergency room. Do not use their bakery for custom cakes. The process is poorly designed. Placed my Costco cake order via paper on a Wednesday for a Saturday cake pickup. All I needed was a name on the cake and a teddy bear, really nothing crazy. They called Saturday morning saying they cannot do the flavor of cake (vanilla) because the cake decorator called out sick. Understandable I guess, however I need my cake? So they said they cannot call and ask another Costco to do it. They said they could. Turns out they did not actually communicate it at all and guess who showed up to not have a cake. Costco needs to have a better way to order cakes, better communication and set up. If the parking lot doesn't give you an aneurysm, the people inside will- staff and customers alike. 35 minutes and counting-- we asked for help getting some diapers that were only accessible by forklift. After 10 more minutes we didn't see him again, so we caught someone else walking past (Mark). First he said are you sure it's not on the floor?" Then he said, okay let me go find my manager. After a few minutes he came back (!!!) and let us know it would be a few more minutes. My husband mentioned that he was the third employee that we had to ask for help. I named the other 2 men. Lo and behold, Victor came back and let us know it would be a few more minutes. They mentioned that Alexis was going to help- I remembered her, Victor mentioned something to her on the way to check and see if the diapers were on the floor. When I was looking for more help later, she was talking and laughing while sorting boxes. In the end, we got the diapers. Another Mark thanked us for waiting and handed us the box. This Costco has a 3.5 star rating, which is as high as it gets for the San Jose area. Advantages to this Costco (as opposed to Sunnyvale): the lines have never been too long, parking is rarely an issue, it's freeway-close, it's near a Trader Joe's, and the vendors aren't pushy. Or maybe I simply don't look like a homeowner. The food lines, though, are always pretty long. And they need to bring back diced onions. Covid is completely over! Delicious soft serve! I've been to this Costco many times over the years and I'm happy to say it's still in pretty good shape. It's not as nice as the new San Jose Costco Business Center but it has what I need which is all that matters. At this location the food court is located outside. I'm glad to say that the prices for food have stayed the same despite COVID and inflation. I ordered the hot dog and fudge sundae. The hot dog was good (as always). Love that the bun is soft, warm, moist, and has sesame seeds. The fudge sundae, on the other hand, was amazing!! I ordered my sundae with extra fudge and it was YUMMY! Although, I wish the fudge was gooey and thick, I thought that the fudge was still good. Honestly, you can't go wrong with a day spent at Costco! I scanned my membership card and was about to scan my items when the employee named Carolina approached me and demanded that I show my membership card to her, even though I had already scanned it. Her attitude was particularly troubling--she spoke to me as if she were an authority figure demanding that a criminal show identification. I felt singled out and insulted by this request, especially because I noticed other customers were not subjected to the same treatment. I believe this was potentially discriminatory, as I am Asian. When I questioned her behavior, she and two other colleagues claimed it was standard procedure. However, this experience left me feeling deeply uncomfortable. This was an unnecessary and distressing experience that could have been avoided with proper employee conduct. This location probably has the most sassiness and attitude from the employees. Over the years, it's always been this location where I have had poor customer experience. I never come here to return anything. The employees that work at returns always give me a hard time. Additionally, some cashiers will freak out if you leave the items in the cart with barcodes face up (for easy scanning). One specific time, our cashier almost screamed at us. Yikes! However, there are some positives though. I find that they consistently open up a little early before 9AM...most days when I come here, I'm inside by 845am already and can knock out a quick trip before the madness occurs. It's also nice that it's right by Trader Joes and Real Produce...so if I need something random like 1 tomato or a single lime...they got me covered! Not my top choice when it comes to San Jose Costco's! I live the closest to this location but will only go here if I'm tight on time. Terrible experience with the manager Rudy. Our cashier needed help to void a transaction and had called him over at least 5 times, but he was too busy having a conversation with a customer he knew and was ignoring our cashier. I politely went over to Rudy and said "sir your cashier is asking for you." What is Rudy's response? He gives me a mugging face and angrily walks over to our cashier. Like his job is so hard to do. While he is voiding the transaction he is still mean mugging us and gives us attitude. Which is crazy because now I wonder how a manager is treating the employees under him. This feedback is specifically about the hearing aide center at the Almaden warehouse. Members are advised to change their receiver mold about every 2 months. As a long time Costco member, I have been able to go to any other location's hearing Aide center to get my receiver molds changed during my visits. No appointments are necessary and the staff are courteous and ready to help; just stop back to pick up when done with shopping which is fantastic. That used to be the case here but not anymore. The Almaden desk clerk, Vu, is mandating appointments be made for this service which is absurd. Why does this center operate differently than other stores? I can totally understand appointments needed for more in depth services such as hearing test and hearing aide adjustments. However, it does not make sense for this center alone to require appointments for minor services such as change of receiver molds. read more
