After spending $123 here. Cashier refused to let me take the basket outside. Made faces after I asked her to double bag my things.

This place sucks with their customer service. The Mgr Sara refused to let me take 2 baskets of merchandise out.

This grocery store has changed my life…read more Please understand, it's not a traditional grocery store (items are still in their shipping boxes, prices are written with sharpie, and there aren't super well defined sections) but it's incredibly cheap. I don't earn a lot and food has always been a stressor for me, so it feels amazing being able to walk around a store and pick out whatever I want and still stay under budget. Here's the types of products you can expect: Overstock - these foods may or may not be past expiration. Many of them are shelf stable or frozen. Damaged goods - items with faulty packaging or with blemishes, many have not yet hit expiration. Expired goods - no further explanation needed Staples - some staples are often stocked but they might be a little closer to standard grocery price as they're more for convenience. Home goods - pet items, toiletries, cleaning supplies, etc When I tell people about this store, they often get concerned about me getting sick, but I have never had a bad food experience with AAA Freight. If food has truly gone bad, they won't sell it. If it really concerns you, they have plenty of food that's not expired. Not only that, but they frequently carry organic or other health-oriented brands. Finally, the staff are super kind. If you need someone to open a box, hold the heavy freezer doors for a second, etc. they will do it in a heartbeat. As I've started to make this store part of my routine, they even have begun to recognize me :)

They have a large selection of wooden doors which really excited me because I've been thinking of adding 2 pocket doorways in my home. I'll definitely be getting my doors here and doing some refurbishing. They have a nice enough selection of stained glass windows. Lots of those crystal style door knobs at a way better price than a snooty antique hardware store. In the back they had tons of wood planks. Really great if you're looking for flooring and reclaimed wood. So much more I'm not mentioning. But look around and you'll definitely bump into something that you didn't know you'd love to have. Really great place to get ideas.

However, it felt dirty, dusty, and disorganized overall. The exception was the doors--they were well organized by size, style, and function. That said, the pricing on the doors was extremely high for what was offered. On a positive note, the staff were very helpful and courteous. Overall, I'd consider this a last-resort stop--after checking Facebook Marketplace or local estate sales--if you still haven't found what you need.

Sombrero hats, shoes, Mexican dresses, toys, the list goes on. Be careful about the stairs; they are rather steep. I love how the signs tell you to keep your children with you. There is also another sign telling you that you cannot try on the shoes. I asked the salesgirl about it, and she said that they had lots of people coming in to try on the shoes, but not buying any. And then people who actually bought the shoes would come back saying that the shoes smelled like feet from all the people who had tried on the pair of shoes previously. True story, swear to God. I guess tourists have stinky feet! I was looking for a souvenir for myself. Warned about the shoes, I actually was looking to get either a Mexican blouse or dress as I had seen several gorgeous ones during my stay in San Antonio. The salesgirl was great in helping me pick out one, and even better yet, offered a discount if I paid in cash. Done. Best yet, after visiting Market Square, I noted that this store's clothes prices were indeed less expensive than the stores on Market Square. Same merchandise, different prices. I don't know how the other merchandise stacked up, but it does pay to shop around.

The carnicero knew his way around the cut and we talked about the various spices and ways of cooking it. The roast turned out delicious. It's not a large store but has a few short rows of Mexican cooking essentials complete with a bakery section off to the side, in a separate room. I would have given this shop more stars but honestly it is too expensive for my taste. I love supporting small businesses (but after viewing their website, I see they are a large chain with stores throughout Texas), but I may only come here when looking for a very specific, quality cut of meat. They did deliver in that department. OH, and instead of buying tacos at their pricey taco stand, go to the carnicero and get a pound of roast pork from him for $7.99 then grab a stack of hot tortillas from the warmer. Makes for a cheap lunch that feeds 4 to 5 people for under $10. (Tacos are $2 each!)
