Please Read Before Accepting Black Box Prize Gift Cards at Bargain Depot on Goliad Road…read more (San Antonio Shoppers) I want to share my recent experience so no one else runs into the same problem. Nov 14, 2025, I won a $50 Google Play gift card at Bargain Depot, but had to pay $6 because the card came in a "$6 day" black box. I gave it to my son as a birthday gift. When he tried to redeem it, he found out from Google Play that the card was never activated at the store. Gift card activation is something only the store can do at the register. I went back today, Dec 11, 2025, with the physical card in perfect condition. Instead of helping, I was told: "Too much time passed." "We can't do anything about the card." "No one else has had this issue, only you." "We don't know what you did with the card." Not only did they refuse to activate the card or refund the $6 fee, they shifted the blame onto me -- even though activation is 100% the store's responsibility. The card is unexpired, unused, and clearly not activated. The store has complete transactional documentation and photos. Just a warning for others: If you receive or "win" any gift card in a Bargain Depot black box, make sure the store activates it before you leave. If there's an issue later, you may not receive any help from them. Sharing this so others can avoid the same frustration.

I will say that their selection is not as big as some of the other stores that i've seen, but they still have some great deals. This visit, we got a pan to cook with, a phone charging card, some protein powder and even some beauty products. As a first time customer, it was very overwhelming, but the pricing is very easy to follow with signs posted in all the aisles. I was pleasantly surprised at just how much variety the store has and I found some very useful items for my house, including some cute coasters and a set of chopsticks with a spoon. The staff are also incredibly helpful and will answer any questions you might have. I will definitely be going back to Daiso.

They seemed to be a more trendy type of shop and a lot of my clothes was a little more formal for their style so they didn't buy a lot from what I brought (I think they are more tailored to GenZ just FYI). I did browse through their store a little bit but frankly their clothes was not my style and they did not have a lot of XS or small petite clothing. One thing do worth noting is that they have a huge selection for guys, and saw some pretty cool vintage stuff for men.
