This is not your typical Dollar Tree. Located in a decaying and sketchy shopping center, it's the sort of experience you don't make a habit of. The store itself is a little rundown and, at times, a little disorganized. All said, they do deliver on those famous one dollar deals, so if that's what you're looking for, that's what you're going to get. I have to say that after two visits I am impressed with the cheerfulness of the employees. They get all kinds here, including a homeless man who came in the front door and started screaming at them for no reason on my latest visit. This review is dedicated to the customer service/experience at Dollar Tree. As I entered the store, I was immediately greeted by an employee and directed me towards the shopping carts. I got the items I needed and headed to the line. The staff was absolutely slammed as the store was "packed" as can be, with regard to social distancing. I got to the cashier (with ok fine true confessions: much more than I intended!) and I told the young lady I didn't need a bag. She kindly insisted I needed a bag, which I thought was kind of her, given the very long line behind me. I noticed another employee wiping down shopping carts and moving them to another area for new shoppers. This is my favorite Dollar Tree, because of staff and stock on hand!! The staff is very friendly and helpful!! There is always a friendly staff member at the door to greet me coming and going. Their stock on hand is a treasure trove! I am always finding things there that other Dollar Trees are lacking. Yes, it is in a run down part of town, but it is still worth the trip. I have never ever felt that I was in danger when I went shopping there, so it is not THAT bad of an area. Some people may feel paranoid going there, so don't! I love the staff, I love this store! When I walked into this store at 7020 Stockton Blvd Sacramento, CA on May 28 at about 1 PM, there was an employee who was stocking the front of the store. She was about 60, dyed blonde hair pulled back into a tight bun and no teeth in the front of her mouth. She said hello, I said hello. She told me to take my mask off because there was no more COVID and to get over it. I asked for her to repeat what she said, she did, and I said that was the stupidest thing I'd ever heard. She asked if I was calling her stupid, and I said I certainly am. She then called me stupid because no one catches COVID anymore and it doesn't exist and I don't need my mask. I let her know that a friend had just caught it 2 weeks ago, and it's certainly still a threat. I also let her know that I had friends and family die from it, so she had no place telling me to take off my mask or that this deadly disease wasn't a threat. I told her what I thought of her and her stupidity and left. Their employees have no right or basis to be giving out medical advice or demands to customers, and probably leaves their company liable for lawsuits. Well, if you've read other reviews (this one or reviews from other Dollar Trees), than it really can be a hit or miss. I feel this one is one of the better Dollar Tree stores around. Granted the outside of the store is not kept up, but the area around is not that great. BUT once you step inside, there is always a greeter there. I have not seen that at other Dollar Tree stores. This particular store is pretty big, I'd say one of the bigger ones around the area and you can spend a good amount of time browsing what seems to be thousands of dollar items. Great for kids: kites, water guns, balloons, toys, arts and crafts. Also you might be surprised of what you find. I found a generic brand of Ibuprofen and Benadryl. A great example of how this place could save you some $$$: I found chocolate pudding here, 4 pack for a $1. Went to another 'cheap' supermarket: same brand pudding, same flavor, same 4 pack: on CLEARANCE for $2! The isles were pretty clean for the most part, and the shelves were well stocked. The reason it won't be getting that 5th star is because of all the times I went (various times during the day), the lines were always long. Usually they have only 1 register open. The most registers I've seen open at one time is 2. And they have like 5-7 registers at the store. I stopped in here passing through the south end of town. It was a good call. This Dollar Tree was well-stocked and had friendly employees including a pleasant smile from security. This alone quashes enduring the traffic and helps minimize the effects of driving through the area. Parking lot is shaped goofy but there were plenty of spaces to park. My one star reduction is due to the long checkout lines and the area the store is located, but that's tolerable. This location had items that other locations struggle to keep, or just plain don't stock. Four items things are at the forefront of my mind when I say this: Reese's Pieces candy, Red Baron Deep Dish single pizzas (pepperoni & meat trio), Michelina's frozen "TV dinners" and a brand name squeegee. Yes, I said squeegee. I've taken up this habit of squeegee'ing my shower after every use and it helps keep it nice & clean in between cleanings and keeps the window-less bathroom mold-free (subliminal pro tip). As a result, my squeegee had worn out after about 6 months of solid service. And for $1, I'm ok with replacing it. Most stores like to charge $5-7 or more for this sort of thing. Items I noticed they were well-stocked on: *candy (they also had Mamba!) *popcorn (8 pk of tasty buttered popcorn $1!) *craft/holiday/decor supplies *frozen meals (better quality ones) *greeting cards *children's items (lots of toys and puzzles) *kitchen gadgets & utensils If you are looking for anything Dollar Tree typically sells, I don't think you'll be let down at this location. I hate making negative statements about a business that can be a positive aspect for the residents who patronize it, namely that "ghetto" word that other Yelpers have mentioned. But, yes, it is in a run down, old shopping center that seems to draw the "ghetto" types, homeless, and those of us who have no choice but to shop at a store that directly helps out the low income and the economy affected, by offering a large variety of merchandise with prices that are hard to beat anywhere. My boyfriend and I needed three specific items and dreaded the thought of fighting the crowds at Walmart. So after having lunch at a restaurant across the way, spotting this Dollar Tree seemed to be the logical choice to search for said items, due to its close proximity and the variety of bargains held within. We found a pill organizer, tablet cutter, even some nylon cable ties that we needed. But of course, I can never just get a few things at a Dollar Tree. I found several other items that I realized I needed while we were browsing. The store was kept neat, organized and tidy enough to make my shopping experience pretty bearable amongst the steady stream of customers coming and going. Dollar Trees never seem to fail me when I need something in a pinch. They may not always have what I'm looking for, but more often than not, I get pleasantly surprised! On a side note, some people like me, may remember when a terrible incident happened on April 4th, 1991, at this building which was once home of "The Good Guys" electronics store. Armed robbers took over by holding people hostage and killing innocent victims in some misguided effort to bring acknowledgement to their cause of which I never understood what it was all about. i like to come here and find some random stuff i usually don't need. I am always working on projects and the first place i think of is the dollar store. i was working on a project with making a scrapbook for my cousin graduation. From previous shopping experiences here i have noticed they have lots of scrapbooking supplies such as stickers and school supplies too. i came here on purpose to look for them stickers to make the scrapbooking pages stand out. since it was a graduation scrapbook i am working on and those stickers they carry in the stores works with all occasions and my specific occasion too. this store is pretty organized by aisle with what category you are looking for. when you enter the store they usually have the season and theme or occasion with all the supplies and accessories you need. like for right now they have all summer table wares and plates and napkins and etc. ; most of the items are bright and attractive by the entrance. i usually put tons of unnecessarily items in my basket but when its time to line up, i ask myself if i need it and then put 75% back haha. the lines tend to get very long. the lines do move slow, and the checkers are usually slow. also most time they are short staff as well. they do have a security guard in the front who is friendly. they make sure you don't carry a big bag or a backpack and no bags for guys or else they tell you to put your belongings in the cubicle locker for free. they are strict on the bags situation. overall they have a big section for party supplies which is very big. lots of different occasions from birthdays to wedding and holidays too. Pretty rude manager. I asked the cashier if they load Cash App cards (says they do online). He went to ask the manager, came back and specifically said, "The manager can do it. She's on her way up." I sat down and waited. A lady shows up, starts helping him and then opens a register and starts taking customers. After a few minutes I get up and ask the cashier, "Is that the manager?" He said, "Yeah". So I walk up to her register and off top she says, "It won't let me do Cash App. It will for Green Dot but not Cash App." I said, "So you just gonna let me sit there and not say anything?" There's ALWAYS a trade off.... Leave your dignity at the door and you are engulfed in hoards of dollar treasures that you can accumulate faster than you can think about what you are actually buying. Good variety in most departments. Good customer service. Only complaints are the cleanliness of the store, carts, and hand baskets. They need to disinfect this stuff thoroughly. I seen a story about a dollar store on the internet that was putting motor oil in the off brand laundry detergent bottles. This past week I was using some I bought at this location and towards the end of the bottle I started to notice a funny smell. It smelled like motor oil. I couldn't believe it. I would recommend buying the little bottles of Tide if you need laundry detergent from a 99 cents type store. And bring your sanitizer and wipes if you're going to use a cart or hand basket here. read more

This is the worst Dollar Tree store I've been to. I get that it's South Sac and not a great area (there's a security guard at the front). But ignoring that, the store is super messy and unorganized. There is merchandise all over the floor and there is not enough staff to manage both the registers and maintain the floor. I am a fan of Dollar Tree stores because you can get some essential household items at a good price point (like microfiber towels). They also have a solid selection of seasonal/holiday items (think stuffers for Easter baskets or Halloween boo bags). It's Stockon Blvd. It's ghetto. Get over it. Nobody here does a damn thing about the crowd that loiters outside of their store on the daily. You got your dude selling cheap perfume in the parking lot. You have the guy in the front trying to sell you his bootleg DVDs. You have kids trying to have you sign some petitions. And then of course, you have the bums. It's like "everything at one convenient location", what more could you ask for? But seriously. It's one of those awkward situation where you're going to want to pull out your phone and pretend to have a conversation with someone just so they'd leave you alone (hopefully). Despite all this, I still like shopping here. It's worth it. Although dollar stores like Dollar Tree usually do tend to sell junk, that's not always the case. I've come to find that this store actually offers really good items. Being one of the bigger Dollar Tree store, they get a lot of products in. On random occasion, they would even offer brand name products (specifically food). People are very skeptical about what's the catch for only paying a buck for an item, so I've generated some FAQs. "How much is this?" --Trust me, this question comes up more often than you realize. Some folks takes this to be one of those dollar and UP store. It's not. Most items are $1 (unless marked otherwise like 2/$1 or 79cent candy bars). If it's a taxable item, there will of course be tax. If it's a bottle/can, there will be CRV. Are their food expired? --MOST of the time, no. Why are their brand named stuff here for so cheap? --It's called a promotion. Once in a while, they bring in random awesome goodies as a way to draw you back in the next time. Do they sell latex balloons? --Not the ones with helium. But they have an AWESOME selection of mylars. WAY cheaper than supermarkets and party supplies stores. Do you need a receipt for return/exchange? --At this store, yes, you do. Do they sell condoms? --No. But I hear the 99 cent store down the street does. Dollar Tree do, however, sell pregnancy tests. So if you wanna be lazy and not drive down the street, be sure to pick up one or two of these. "This isn't Wal-Mart. Why the hell is there a door greeter checking off my receipt?" --It's probably not you they're trying to monitor. It's their employee. A cashier can bag a lot of item for their friends/family without actually ringing them up. Yes, checking off the receipts at the door can be use to reduce the chance of theft, but that's not its only purpose. Customers shouldn't take this personally. "Psh, who's gonna steal from a DOLLAR STORE?" --People who likes free shit a little too much. Trust me, it happens. Often. All in all, I'm grateful that this store is around. Yeah, the line is ridiculously long (I say line/is because yeah, there's usually only one). Yeah, the crowd isn't always a pleasant one. I always come here to get my random few items. Foil, gift bag, party decor, or cards. The quality is well worth coming here. -2 stars due to the LINES. When it gets packed it takes awhile. But when it comes down to it, you can't beat the price. So I end up sucking it up. Ok so this Dollar Tree Store has everything you need and want, but don't need. They always have the things the other Dollar Tree Stores don't have. I have to come all the way over here to get the heat pads I like, they always have them. They carry a lot of different items here. The store is never really clean, you find random items all over the store. Today they have one register open and the line is super long. That's not surprising in here at this Dollar Tree. They never have enough registers open. Must come with patients! The other thing that disturbs me about this particular store is there are always homeless people hanging out front. Its really dirty out in front of the store, right in the entry way. And there is always someone digging in the trash looking for bottles. That trash can is forever running over! Its always busy in here and out of all the dollar stores I've gone too, this one is pretty ghetto. The staff changes often and they are not always friendly.Some of them are ok, don't get me wrong. I'mjust saying most of the ones I've crossed aren't always so kind. Anyways so here I am and the one line thats open is already long and the guy in front of me is paying for his stuff in coins (smh). I come here whenever I am near Little Saigon and need random household or office goods for cheap. Employees greet you with a smile and wish you a good day on your way out. This stereotyping and low quality dollar general just kicked my boyfriend out of the store when he had a cart full of groceries. He was just shopping for good, we go there all the time. He was followed on three separate occasions and then had his cart yanked out of his hands. When he asked to speak to the manager they told him to leave. When I called, I got screamed at because I don't "know nuthin". Where else can you find bags of Sugar Daddies for only $1?! Dollar Tree! Yes, this one is in the ghetto and you do get sketchy people browsing the aisles (this is why they have the guy checking everyone's receipts as you leave the store), but we wanted that candy! This is one of the larger stores so you can find almost anything that you're hoping to buy cheap. There are some well-known brands, but the rest are mostly knock offs. I made these DIY chalk board mugs and I decided why not take a look at Dollar Store for chalk. As I got to the Dollar Tree Store, it is a bit typical. I didnt see any loiters or bums when I got there. When I went in, I went straight to the office/school supply section. There were crayons, markers and all stuff. I walked over to the toys. I could not find any chalk at all. I was ready to give up. But I went to the end aisle of the toys and I found it. There were 20 pieces in a box with 5 different colors. They were jumbo chalk. I thought it was cool since they were packaged in 5 color sets. I was able to give a 5 color set to one friend with her DIY chalkboard mug. SO MUCH FUN. My friend receiving the present could decorate her mug all colors. LOVE IT! This dollar store was pretty decent. There were a few places that needs to be straightened but it was okay enough without a health or fire hazard. It was okay! I went home pretty proud of myself buying the chalk. read more

I Was really disappointed that there was only three lines open on such an expected busy day. Then something crazy happened. They closed off one of the lines that was super long and opened two other lines. The cashier advised everyone to move towards the opened lines. A customer that has been in line for a while got upset and started mouthing off, but the cashier was so calm that she was able to calm down the customer without conflict. read more

This place looked promising from afar, although not the biggest fan of the location. It looked huge, so I was expecting some Dollar Tree Superstore. There was quite a bit in there I'll admit, I had to once again switch from a basket to a cart. The security lady laughed at me, and she was actually the ONLY PLEASANT employee there. Every single employee there was miserable with their work and SHOWED every part of it. They avoided eye contact, took forever to get to the desk, spoke with resentment and pretty much was going at each other in a regular talking voice + attitude.
