I still remember with shock and awe the day I first went into a Marshall's in the 6th grade and discovered I could actually wear a ladies size 5 shoe. I had been forced to wear a pair of ugly orthopedic shoes for children for months when I was told this was the only pair that would fit me at Stasi's Children's Shoe store. Liars! That day I got three pairs of stylish and discounted shoes in my new adult size. Thanks, mom! I tell you this to remind you that back in the day you could not pick out your own shoes to try on, you had to go to a shoe store where a shoe salesperson would measure your feet and go to the back to get shoes for you to try on. So Marshall's entered my world that day, and shopping was never the same! I have always sought out a Marshall's where I live and this location in the Pocket area of south Sacramento is a gem. They have a consistently well curated selection of shoes, clothing, cosmetics, personal care, and home goods. They have a pretty extensive pet section, too as well as seasonal decor and furniture. To be fair, sometimes they are in a restock mode or things are really picked over, but such is the nature of bargain stores. You may not always find exactly what you need here, but you'll be able to be in the ballpark. Marshall's has more designer and higher end brands than Ross, (though you can't knock a good Ross find, you just have to search more). When my sister visits she and I usually hit this Marshall's and can easily spend a couple hours here. This store is always busy and even though the lines get long, they have a top notch checkout crew who get you taken care of. They finally fixed the air conditioning so it's much nicer for staff and shoppers. Dressing rooms are nice and you can bring in 12 items. Ask me how I know. Ps there a back parking lot. read more

I came here to Marshalls to buy a top to wear for work. They have a lot of variety things to buy. You can buy snacks, food, houseware, clothing: mens, children & women. You can also buy for your pets, novelty items and beauty too. Ive come here many times. Ive bought almost any category. The clothes have price tags that show you their original price and the cut price. I like the food section because they have items that are very imported or rare. Even the cutest thing to buy is in their Tea or Coffee section. I love the rare teas. I also love coming here out of all the Marshalls in the Sacramento region. In general I am a fan of most Marshall's stores, however this one needs a little work. Sometimes the selection is great and other times it looks as if they have not restocked anything in months. On a few occasions it looked as if the store had a hurricane run through it. I completely understand they may be understaffed and overworked but the store needs a really good scrub. On the flip side most of the staff is friendly and helpful and the home goods department usually has really great deals on sheets and pillows. read more

My go-to Marshall's store! It's in a great area, plaza offers many stores and food spots with lots of parking as well. I typically enjoy their beauty selection and they offer a few high end brands for a great price as well. Very well organized and employees are always nice and helpful. Has pretty much every category you're looking for, either yourself or as gifts. The store itself is pretty great but the one thing I despise is the parking lot. Very small and very narrow slots. The store is filled with a variety of untold treasures. My family found some great bedside tables one time, and more recently I was able to find some great beauty products. The store is always busy because this store services the pocket and Elk Grove area (as being the only store closest to Elk Grove) The staff are very quick and efficient. They do their best for the consistently long lines for check out. You will always find a great deal at this store! read more

I had the worst experience ever with 3 different cashiers. No, I do not recommend this place at all. Terrible customer service.

Late afternoon on the weekend - super long line with 30+ people waiting to check out. It took around half an hour to get to the front with 4 cashiers on deck. They would have conversations amongst themselves and with customers despite the huge line. Two ladies in front of me with 1-2 items gave up after five minutes of waiting since the line was barely moving. The spring decor is overpriced - charging $10+ for a few fake flowers superglued to glass jars is crazy. You'd be better off just going to Dollar Tree and buying everything separately. That way you can at least change out the flowers easily. I did find some snacks on sale, which normally aren't worth the money for the small amount. read more

I've seen her work at the register when I check out and I had a question about an item I wanted to return and she responded in a very rude tone and proceeded to be rude to the Poor Cashier lady and that wasn't the first time I've seen that.I definitely will not shop here again because she made my experience unpleasant. read more

This is very specifically for my experience on 5/11/2022 with two members for the morning crew at this location. The fitting room attendant who usually works here is seriously amazing. She is always cheerful and bubbly and helpful, usually working on Saturday/Sunday mornings. On this Wednesday morning the attendant I encountered was HORRIBLE. She yelled at me saying I wasn't parking my cart on the right side of the park cart area, then when I gave her a look she was like "it's not my rules, it's the company." I am sure the company doesn't ask you to yell orders across the room at a customer especially at such a miniscule detail like which side I park my cart on the cart parking area. The second member of staff I encountered at the checkout was also really rude! I like to have my receipts emailed to me and she said no just print it it's easier and she reached over and selected print only on the screen, WTF?! I swear I have never dealt with any issues in this store I am wondering if it's new staff or just the weekday crew who is really not polite at all. I'll reserve my visits to weekends from now on to avoid being yelled at and denied my emailed receipts. read more

They have exercise clothing, yoga mats but you will have to look for in the specific section. Key to finding the deal is browsing slowly with lots of patience. So, I like Marshall's & shop there often. Somehow I'm able to look past the filthy changing room floors (like every other store), long lines, & clothing in disarray. You literally can't move an item without it falling off the hanger onto the floor or spend time untangling it from the next item. It's one of those stores I drop by to get one thing & before I know it, I've spent $150. However I cannot overlook what I saw on my 2 last visits. On the previous visit, I was shopping for fridge & shelf organization. I looked into a fridge box & saw a massive cockroach trapped inside! I pointed it out to a cashier who removed it. I bought a different one, knowing that most things we buy have probably had roaches on them. That's why I run things through the dishwasher & wash all "new" clothes before wearing them. I still haven't brought myself to use that box in the fridge though. A few days ago, I was looking for an eyelash curler. I noticed that the item (box open, like many things) was clearly USED! There was a lash curler & lash separator covered in someone else's crusty mascara. I put it in my cart with the intention of bringing it to the cashier's attention, but then thought, "Screw that. They'll probably put it back on the shelf." So I took the items out to snap these pics & noticed there was foundation smeared all over the handle too. Yuck! I then threw the box in the trash, as Marshall's should have done when it was returned. So don't buy used/unsealed box cosmetics from Marshall's & if someone gifts it to you, ask for the gift receipt! Lol read more

Store is ok. A bit limited in each department. I like the customer service. They are upbeat without overly doing it. They clean the counters before every transaction and they're not rushing you like Ross, calling the next person in line before the current transaction is even over. And also unlike Ross, they take out the hangers they put it in the bag and they hand you the receipt. Whereas Ross will take off the hangers put it in the bag and then tell you to take your own receipt. That's not Covid protocols I think that's something else. I've found great stuff at Marshall's before. I think it's a step up from Ross honestly, but just a step. read more

Safe to say I won't be coming back to this Marshall's anytime soon after trying to make a return today. While on my way home from work, I figured I would return 2 items that didn't fit quite right - a dress and gym top. When I handed both my receipt and items to the cashier, she proceeded to act strange and step away to talk to another cashier. She returned, and told me that the top I was returning "didn't match the description" in their system. When I showed her that both the price and item number on the receipt matched the price tag, she proceeded to grab items off the rack from the store to show me "what the item was supposed to be." How is an inaccurately placed tag my problem? After some back and forth, she said she would honor the return and give me my money back. Mind you, I was returning 2 items off a $140 purchase! Then once my return was complete, I proceeded to purchase a Halloween mug that I had noticed while waiting for a cash register to open up. After paying, I walked through the doors and the alarm sensor went off. In hindsight, the taser that I carry in my purse for safety may have caused the sensor to go off. However, the same cashier then proceeded to say in a pretty accusatory tone "well I can't check your purse, so you can just go." I've never been made to feel the way I did today at this store - like I was stealing. And upon reading other reviews, it sounds like this isn't an isolated incident for us black shoppers. When I got complements on shoes, home goods and clothes, I boasted that I had found it at Marshall's. I spent many $$ often. Could never walk out empty handed. Now, the shoe, purse and clothing sections are meager. No longer any good brands. Just went in again today to give it one more chance and found the racks severely lacking. This Marshall's has been at this location for as long as I remember, definitely over 30 years and possibly over 40! A well established store in an anchor shopping plaza in the Pocket/Greenhaven area. As a teen I came to browse with friends and tried on clothes for fun and for reals. There's usually quite a lot of selection to choose from and prices were reasonable. I don't frequent this store much anymore, but it's good to know it's here when I'm looking for a specific type of clothes, shoes, or even home decor as they also carry a small selection of that. Overall, a well kept if older and kind of design wise outdated store that does the trick for providing a source of well priced and good quality apparel and shoes. read more

Haven't been here since I was a little kid and the store looks the same as it did back then. The prices are good on most things, but in some sections the selection is lacking. I was able to get a belt that was more than a third of the price it was on Amazon but I just wished there were more belts to choose from. Looking for a belt if suddenly yours broke from all those times you were forced to stay home or new pants? Go here if you are close because they have some good prices. read more

Most items are not even a bargain! If your desperate and in need of something right that second, than sure. It is cheaper to buy from them but not by much. But if you want to save, you might as well shop at other stores including thrift stores that essentially sells the same things. The most annoying thing about a shopping trip to Marshalls is that the cashiers always try to push their credit card. This is a review of the cashiers. They seem to be fine and on task on weekends and weeknights, likely when they anticipate they'll have more business. But coming here midday in the middle of the week to do a simple return should not be as time consuming and tedious as it is. There is one cashier here that seems to care about her job and I've never had any issue with her. But there are a few including Lou that are too busy talking to each other to take their next customer and even when they do take the customer are still talking amongst themselves instead of helping the customers. This has happened to me multiple times. They always seem to have more cash registers lit up as open than there are people actually ready and able to help the customers, which creates a line when the store is nearly empty. If there was a different store as close to me as this one I wouldn't even bother coming here during the week. read more

I have found great clothing here, makeup, home decor etc. The best part of this store is the home decor. They have a huge section for home decor. I think people who live in Greenhaven like to keep this place a secret, pretending that it's just another Marshall's. It's not. Great selection of casual and professional clothes for women and men - including designer suits for less than $100. The shoes are of higher quality (and slightly higher price) and greater variety than any other Marshall's in town. The store is also well-organized, for the most part. Most items are sold for half the original price- less if you can find stuff on clearance. I usually come here if I'm looking for something specific. I don't really browse through everything since I don't have the patience. Prices can still be pretty expensive, considering the brands they carry. If you want to go cheaper, then go to Ross but you most likely would find less quality. The people who work here are really friendly. I bought a $300 Ruffoni Italian pot from Marshall's, had to take it back because they taped the lid to the pot too long and I can not remove the glue. The evening manager Kelli, was her usually rude self, told me to use Googone to get rid of the glue and I said no. She pushed the pot back to me and said you can take your pot and go. read more

A store of junk inspired by cheap people... Slightly out of boredom...slightly out of the need to buy something, Krystle R. and I sauntered in here. It's been years since I've sauntered around this shopping center, let alone walk into the Marshall's. I forgot that there is a huge foyer area, before you are even at the doors of the discount store. Once you arrive, it's quite over crowded - junk on junk on junk. If you have time and energy, Marshall's is a good place to find yourself. Tons of racks, shelves, and things to dig through. Baller-on-a-budget finds at this specific location come in the above average home section - tons of kitchen items and home decor items. Slightly messy, in almost every department, it is about as average a Marshall's comes. The store seemed to have a yellow tint to it - lighting or paint on the walls, I'm not too sure. Staff seemed to only be manning the registers, I didn't see anyone walking around. Crowded with pickers, this place was crackin' for a Sunday afternoon. Everything is pretty well organized and very spacious inside. I do have one complaint and that is their parking here. One of the cleanest and well organized discount department stores. When I compare this specific store to others, like Ross and TJ Maxx, this one, hands down is better. The customer service is friendly and efficient, the store is clean and organized, the layout is easy to maneuver, and quality of the products are in good condition. They always have what I need for my family. My husband is a business professional and this is a great place to find brand name business dress clothes, shoes, and accessories. Also they provide a large assortment of clothes, accessories, games and toys for children. I would also suggest looking at their home goods selection before shopping at the higher end department stores. For example, they have a wide variety of bedding, kitchen ware, and home decor. I have to update my review. Not sure what has happened to this location, maybe lack of shoppers right now, but they have decimated their shoe and purse sections. Really unfortunate, because that's what drew me here years ago. There are now maybe two aisles of women's shoes, and their purses are now all cheap vinyl junk.
