It's your typical discount store with similar merchandise as you would find at a Ross or Marshall's only in a less than stellar part of south Sac. They try to keep it up the best they can I'm sure, but it's unfortunate that some people just don't care. My visit wasn't very enthusiastic the minute I walked in to find a frenzy of customers going through clothing, shoes and other items like it was a rummage sale, including unsupervised children! Things were on the floor or mixed up on the shelves. It didn't take me long to give up my shopping mission and return to the nearest exit. Low prices aren't always a draw when you have to shop along side those who don't have any respect for their fellow human beings. Maybe I came on a bad day. I do hope the store is doing well despite being located in a seedy part of town. I may try them again when I'm in a better mood..... read more

I went to this store and i didn't checked my receipt, When i got home and notice 2 extra charges. i looked into my bag to see what they charge me for. I didnt found additional items. I spoke to the manager and she toll me that she was going to check the cameras . Nothing makes me happier than an extreme deal or unique find. I have scored both here time after time. If I wait long enough most items I have needed or wanted from larger chain or Dept stores will find there way here to my local DD's. Fortunately the money I save shopping @ DD's allows me to frequent here more than I should . Security is always present, staff is friendly and there is a great mix of shoppers bustling about. I enjoy the convenience of this location on Mac Road. I feel like there is effort made by staff to keep this store organized and clean. I appreciate that the displays are usually fully stocked and "clearance" items can be discovered throughout the store which drops these liquidated prices down to rock bottom! Don't get scare of the location here, it isn't too bad. Just think about the señorita breads across the street if you do get nervous about the location. Just think about the heavenly bites of bread which might calm you down for a brief moment. If you don't know what I'm talking about your missing out. lol.... . ummm i freaking love dds discount because they got lots of nice cheap outfits for like a spotlight of the day, night, or an event. Its like i aways pair it so well people always ask me where i shop at..... I'm like DD's Discounts! ..... Anyways they have a great selection but are limited to the amount of pieces, its like you need to come often just to see what new inventory they put out, because if you miss it, they won't restock that particular style or color. The clothes do keep up to trend. I love the t shirts a lot because lots of them are silly and has a good humor to it. . I like dd's! Regardless of what people may say about it. You can find some pretty cool deals here, but you got to know how to look for them. I have found a lot of cool items in here for really cool prices. They have nice pictures, clocks and the picture frames are really nice. I also love the kids section and yes I do get pretty happy shopping for my granddaughter. The store is always messy and some people compare it to store's like Ross, but I personally don't think there's any comparison. Its messy because people just put items anywhere when they don't want them and they hide them so they can come back to get them. Sometimes you can't blame them because you can found some good quality stuff in here if you look. The staff is pretty cool here, and most of them have been here for a while. They make it really easy if you have to return anything. This store is located on Mack Rd and I know its not the greatest area, but I must say it gets a lil ghetto up in here at times. It does get very busy in here at times with long lines and you need lots of patients because some people come to shop and they will cut in line if they have a friend in line already. True story. Lol (thats just the ghetto side) overall I like shopping here and I like this particular dd's over other locations. read more

Don't expect this place to be like Ross. It's usually more messier then any other department store & because it's on Mack rd, it's a little more ghetto. I'm a bargain shopper so I know a good deal when I see one. At all department stores like this, it's always a hit and miss when finding something worth buying. Home goods are usually what I shop for. You can get the same item at half price off at a regular name brand store like target. One thing, I'd avoid here is the clothing. Its made of cheap fabrics and it's so hard to find sizes. Customer service is really friendly and acknowledge your presence by saying a simple hello or welcome. Oh, and they do have a huge sign outside saying they accept EBT for those who have them. Avoid coming here during the first of the month. Usually packed with long lines. read more

Tis the season of lots of people out spending money, so that means long lines... They must not want our money to let the line get 15+ people deep and only one running register. Don't ask me what the other half dozen associates were doing, other than just walking around. I don't have a clue, other than knowing this is a poorly managed store. I strongly dislike this location due to constantly being harassed by a Hispanic loss prevention male. I came in yesterday around 3:30 pm. I was looking for a bag, a pair of sandals and some clothes for my kids. So obviously I was in every section of the store and every time I would look up this mid 30 year old Hispanic male was right there pretending to fix hangers! This was very strange and really felt like harassment. I didn't feel comfortable and was not able to shop in peace. I ended up spending $139 and he just looked like a fool when he saw me PAY for every item I had in my cart. I love dd's but not this location. I will never come back. I will continue to go to the Northgate store and location off watt. There was no reason for him to treat me that way. Its dd's the most "expensive" item is what $39.99?! Love love love this store! This store reminds me of the dollar store in a way. I just get caught up in here. I don't like that the store is dirty most of the time I come here. The lines are always long and they never have enough lines open to check out. I also don't like the fact that if you use a credit card they won't give cash back if you return something that you bought on that card. The prices are great prices and some time you can find some items that are pretty decent, that last for a long time. I love the jeans, they have great prices on them and the wall pictures. I have gotten some beautiful pictures here. They also have really nice picture frames at great prices and their frames are really different and unique. Yes, this location can be super ghetto. And it would be because of the customers. But it's Mack Road so what do you expect? All of the associates I've ever encountered are super nice people though. I'm always greeted upon entering the store and they also acknowledge you leaving. I'm sure it's important that you know that they know about your presence to reduce the chances of people shoplifting. Although everything in this store is at a reasonably discounted price, there are some things worth going here for, and some things you shouldn't even bother with regardless of the fact that it's cheap. Because some things are seriously just CHEAP. Not only am I referring to the price tag, but also the quality of the item itself. I am specifically talking about most of their clothing apparels. I've purchased a ton of clothing from this store in the past until I noticed an effed up pattern. None of the tops I buy from Dd's could ever survive a second wash in the machine. The thread starts coming lose, there will be rips and tears...and it would just become so ridiculously tattered up! Oh and the jeans...well, buttons pops right off and zippers breaks. Ughhhh. In this case, YOU REALLY GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. I highly suggest you to stay away from shopping for clothes here, but if you must, just save yourself the trouble of running back for a return or exchange by double-checking that shirt or them jeans for any defect. So what is really worth buying here? Products from the home goods section! Seriously. SUPER INEXPENSIVE, and they have some really great finds! This place is ghetto, from the location, to the workers, and the clothes. I shop here as I am a bargain shopper. I mean the girl that rang me up wore a midriff top booty shorts and extensions that was hanging by a thread of her hair - i'm sorry but not to be so judgmental about it, it just wasn't professional at all. I don't buy the baby phat and all that brand name stuff, i come to DD's mainly looking for what I know I need. I have to say that I do have conservative taste in clothes and my style is very fresh and modern. I came to DD's looking for a skirt to go with my top i recently bought elsewhere, I found a great deal on a black and grey knit skirt that went very well with my outfit. They were only $4 each, you can't beat that. I bought some working pants for my boyfriend which were dickie brands for $6, seriously, you can't get any cheaper for DICKIES! They also sell toys and shoes but most of the toys are torn up, opened, and missing pieces, then the shoes look worn and dirty so I don't bother with those items at all. As a bargain shopper I like to shop and dig through the racks to find a good deal. I love shopping in general so I don't mind digging around for what I like especially for a good price. They have a variety of scrubs as well and this is where I get my scrubs for work, although the sizes they offer run a little bigger than they should. I'm a small and the size small scrubs are like a size large on me =/ but they were only $7. They do have alot of skimpy clothes but like I said I like to dig for what I find good deals for and I know what I'm looking for so its easy for me to find what I want knowing what I'm looking for. Overall I can't complain about the prices, it's decent and very cheap if you really look into it. But I rate it with 2 stars because I feel like I need a bullet proof vest on just to shop there, or for protection in case the cashier jumps out at me for deeply starring at her, as her extensions slowly falls out from the thread it's hanging by. read more

Someone referred to this place as a ghetto Ross. Yes and no (some Ross's are pretty ghetto). But this would fall in with the ghetto ones, mainly because of the location and people. First time at a dd's. I thought this location may be better (safer/less ghetto) than the Stockton blvd location. Can't say for sure, but this might just be on par. I came here in search of some scrubs (hoping for cute ones that my coworkers show off). Unfortunately, I only found a liking for solid colored ones at this time. The prices for the ones I liked didn't seem too cheap though--about $10-$20 per piece. I don't think they were name brand either. I like having pockets, so I chose this decent looking cargo-pant-like scrub that was just under $10. After one wash, it fuzz-balled up like crazy. In my mind, that scrub bottom should've been worth $5 tops for a discounted price; $10 would seem more like the regular price. During this trip, I had to use my life savings of one Benjamin Franklin. (This is the last piece of cash I have left). Seeing that this area and people here loitering about were sketchy, I tried to be discrete about having & using my life savings during this transaction. My attempts in being discrete failed because the cashier flashed my cash, as did the security guard: literally flashing it up to the windows near the entrance several times for a good 30 - 60 seconds to check if it's real. Really?! I think they make markers & UV lights for that. Also, it doesn't take that long to see the watermarks (or whatever they're called). My total was $30, so I had quite a bit of change.. And the cashier loudly counted out my change as she placed the bills on the elevated counter thing for everyone to hear & see.. -_- My concern after paying was "oh no, the people loitering outside the entrance windows &/or behind me in line are gonna jump me for my reduced life savings." So after I got my change, I ran to my car and drove off in one piece. I'm sorry, I was not very pleased with the whole "announcing to everyone how much money I'll have on me." Then again, I can't expect the cashier to be like a bank teller who counts money discretely behind the counter. I do suggest that they have a better method of checking valid cash instead of having the security guard flash it up to the entrance windows for the loiterers to see how much (I have) for a good minute. Almost makes it seem like the security guy was flaunting the money.. I don't think I've ever had my money (change) broadcasted like that, except maybe at a gas station. Overall, I think this place is like any typical discount store, but a bit more ghetto. Not like the store can choose it's customers and type of people loitering about. This place is a bit more cleaner/organized than some discount stores. 1.5 stars for making me fear for my life by broadcasting my life-savings. Tip: you should not bring your life savings to this area (unless you plan on using/losing it all). read more

If I could give it a zero star, I would. The place is crowded (rack wise).... I take in clothes to try. I happened to have 9, one pass the limit. The sales associate Holly tells me I can only take in 8. I tell her I'm aware, can I place one of the cardigans I had on the back hangers so that it doesn't get taken away. She tells me no. The back racks are for her to work on and if I put my ONE item there, it's gonna confuse her. She points to the nearby baby rack and tells me I can just place it there. I looked at her and said "are you sure????" She says yes and insists that I can't place clothes in the back rack.
