I have to give this Dollar Tree five stars for being CLEAN, ORGANIZED and FRIENDLY. I went in to get some shelf milk and the girl directed me in a very polite way. At other stores it's a simple over there or I think we are out. I mentioned to Sarah (sales clerk on receipt) how impressed I was with how clean the store was compared to others I have seen. I know Dollar Tree isn't usually a place people check on yelp, but I thought the staff deserved to be recognized for an incident I witnessed last time I shopped. An elderly lady with a cane was flustered and couldn't find her pocketbook in her purse. She held up the line a little, but we all patiently waited until another lady shopper offered to buy her items and then follow her out to collect the eight bucks when the older lady found it in her car. They headed out, but someone saw her wallet in the store and the cashier made a mad dash to return the wallet and save the day. Very nice folks work and shop here. read more

I'm not very fond of this dollar tree. The lines are always pretty long, I can't find help when I need it. Always seems like I'm in an empty store like no one works there! I stopped by to buy some candles. Unfortunately the cashier machine couldn't show me how much I needed to pay for the candles. Due to the pandemic outbreak every one must wear a mask, I am Deaf who couldn't understand anything that the cashier said about how much it was. I asked him to write down how much... Guess what he couldn't handle it, and he asked for a manager to help him out. I simply told them that I am Deaf, and I want you to write down how much it is. The manager figured out why and gave me the answer for me to pay. I'm disgusting about how the cashier did today because he couldn't even write a note to tell me how much it is. This is a poorly managed store. They often have extremely long lines. They are often understaffed without a manager onsite. The assistant manager Rose told me that only Araceli can do exchanges & she hasn't been trained but Araceli isn't at the store. I had waited behind 6 people & there were 10 people behind me. As far as Dollar Trees go, this one tends to be a bit more uninspiring. I always buy easy Bingo prizes, grab bag goodies, and stocking stuffer from the DT. As always, you have to be mindful of what you buy; just because it's a dollar doesn't mean it's a deal, but that has little to do with my review, just my two cents. The store is relatively small, and it generally appears more chaotic than you'd expect. The shelves are messy, the staff is less than friendly, and I find their stock a bit lacking. The only plus side was when the new Dollar Tree (up on Mission) was out of helium, these guys pulled through for me and saved the day. Otherwise, definitely not my favorite DT location. read more

It's a mess and when I came in this particular day, they only had one cashier and poor lady was doing her utmost to serve everyone in line as fast as she could. I didn't see another employee to help jump to cashier to help the line as two deep is too deep (yes, I've worked in retail especially Black Fridays..those were the days...don't miss it...) Best thing to get here are birthday cards and such as these can be pricey if you buy them at regular stores even at the Dub. I come in here a couple times a month just to pick up things for the weekend (my gym is in the area) and there is an assist. Manager, Feggin Conners, that I normally avoid. He walks around the store like he is in the military complaining loudly about everything, even customers sometimes. I have seen how he interacts with others and i dont like it, however i just stay away from him.......Well I couldn't avoid him today!!! He was in the back isle of the store when I came up behind him and said excuse me, his back was turned to me, and he was on his cell phone, so I assumed he didn't hear me so I went to another isle and then came up behind him again and said " I just need to squeeze around you" he let me by and then in a loud, condisending, unprofessional voice said "all you had to say was excuse me and I would have moved". I said "I did say excuse me the first time you didn't hear me because you were playing on your phone. Smart Ass". He then got loud and said "I wasn't playing on my phone". I said why you yelling!? Calm down. He kept talking loudly (I have no idea what he was saying.....just kept talking as I walked away) then at that moment I stopped shopping left my cart and (after getting corprates # from the manager). Walked out. Another customer gave me his receipt to make sure I had the correct # and store info. Says he avoids that Assist. Manager like "the plague, he has always been that way" I have left a VM at corporate as well. I can not believe that situation just happened with a member of MANAGEMENT!!! I will no longer shop here because of this incidents. I told the sweet Manager that gave me the information to file a complaint "that I garentee I am not the only customer to complain on him". He is out of control, you would think he owned the place. The way he was acting. How uncomfortable for me, the other customers, as well as employees. I am truly shocked it's happened! I usually don't like going to D.T. but I desperately needed to buy a gift bag for my godson's 1st Communion gift. When I walked in, there was this smell that's hard to describe. The smell didn't stink but it was just a strong interesting smell. There weren't too many people shopping and the store could've been a lot cleaner in the sense that items were messed up and out of its place. The gift bags they sell are too bling bling (too shiny in a not so classy way) for my taste and they had limited occasion bags for birthdays, weddings and such. I surprisingly found a religious bag out of all places that said God inspired words which is perfect for my godson's special occasion. I also bought tissue paper which was a steal too. I was in line and watching Lisa checking out customers. She saw the the last customer left her balloons on the counter. She then ran outside, called the customer and let her know that she left her balloons behind. She was back at her cash register in less than 30 seconds!!!! This was a job well done!! I was just shopping there few min ago buying some birthday stuff and I overheard the cashier an old lady with long grey hair and glasses raising her voice and giving a terrible attitude to a customer. Unacceptable behavior and very unprofessional, first of all if you hate your job quit and find something that you can be miserable all you want without taking it on customers. People come at the store to get a good experience and not see your rest face and yelling at them because they simply asked you if you have opened your register yet!!! Hi Everyone, I have read the reviews about this location. I must say that each time that I shop in the store, it's clean and well stocked. The other day, I forgot my card when I stopped in to purchase a few items. My son had his card, but there wasn't much money on it. So, I scraped together change that I had in my vehicle that way, I wouldn't have to make another trip back to the store. Betha, the store clerk was sooooo nice. She wasn't annoyed or impatient that I had to pay for my items with mostly change that day. I returned days later to purchase a few more items and again she was the same way. She was not there; but her sidekick, the other Supv, "Ryan", was. He's sooo laidback and cool. I wanted to get his name, as well as a few others, so I was elated to see him. 1st, he gave me the CORRECT spelling "Ariel", which is "Araceli"; and two others I always chat with: "Moises" (?); think that should be 'MOSES"; and "Melissa" GOSH!!!! That GIRL slays HARD for the Dollar @ The Tree!!!! and does it w/a certain CALM/EASE, even WHEN THE LINES ARE BACKED almost to the back of the store. [from hereon, the rest is from MY LAST POST]....when I said: "I agree w/Chris C & Heather D; not any NEGATIVITY. sheezeeeesh!!!! I mean....give 'em a break. Yeah, they do HAVE long lines OFTEN but thaz b/c they also do have GR8 stuff loaded most often. IF their stuff runs out/it's usually replaced PRONTO, or they see to it DOES STAT. PPL (like me) are in-tune WHEN their STUFF IS COMING back-in b/c also their Staff is WELL-INFORMED, accurately. Their SupV "Ariel" is GREAT/Effective; KIND and Caring. She is also GR8 w/her Staff, whether they're new or otherwise. I'm certain IF they aren't up to parr in anykind of way, Ariel's tactfull-ness would be such to approach, discuss and correct them privately 1st of all OR re-train them prior to them being dismissed. As for the rest of the Staff, yes, there has been a few "Newly-Hires", and I've witnessed them ALL as very well-trained, smiley and VERY-EFFICIENT. Prices are decent. Salespeople are not. These "discount" stores obviously sell 'cheaper' (lower quality) goods. Because the customer is paying lower prices, it's likely that "Dollar Tree" employees are earning lower wages. However that should NOT equate to these salespeople automatically treating their customer disrespectfully. Apparently, many of the employees at the Oceanside Blvd. Dollar Tree stores seem very unhappy and, in some cases, are just downright angry and abusive towards their customers. Unfortunately, this seems to be the norm @ the O-side stores. (Not Carlsbad or O.C., though - most of those stores have been very, neat friendly and courteous). I heard other complaints from friends regarding the O-side stores - so it's not just me. Most of the time, I'll just brush off someone's "bad day attitude". But a checkout lady (at this particular store) targeted me this evening with some very snarky uncalled for comments (upon my single item checkout) for no reason! (That's why I'm compelled to write this 'warning' review!) An attitude adjustment, and some customer relations training is sorely needed at this store - and all the O-side Blvd. stores, for that matter. I'll now be taking "MY dollar tree" dollars elsewhere. If you like waiting in line with 20 other people for the one register open during any given time during the day, this is your store. I stopped going to this location because I would have to set my stuff down and walk out because while there are other employees stocking shelves or wandering around the store, one cashier is up front checking people out one after the other. Other locations in the area don't have this problem. It usually is decently stocked, which is why I have gone to this location in the past, but won't anymore. read more

Came here to get helium for a Mylar balloon I received as a gift. The guy working kindly informed me that they couldn't inflate it for me. I offered to buy their balloon and have them put the air into my balloon. They refused. What??? Are u kidding me? Maybe this guy was just stupid. Check that, he was. Black dude. The staff at this location are rude and have no idea what customer service is!! My daughters and I walk in, loud, laughing and walk in the seasonal area (which is in front of the door and 3 employees were literally 2 feet away from us) and walked in a few aisles when we had an individual named Areceli and were yelled at to exit the store. I have never been spoken to in that time to be scolded as if I was a child!! I was in shock and responded to this individual that we literally just walked in 5 mins ago and she basically in so many words insinuated that we were lying!!! She went on saying that they have given us fair warning and etc etc. Mind you my 2 daughters and I were being loud!!! To be told "miss miss you need to bring your stuff to register 5 and go now"!!!!! I havent had her kind of care in who knows how long and this is why I had to make sure I yelped about her...She was over the top courteous, very pleasant, sincere and an angel! I went in tonight in hopes of grabbing about 20 balloons. A very rude cashier named Feggins spoke to me in the rudest tone in front of other customers. I was looking at balloons. Apparently I was wrong for looking at balloons because there was no helium. Well Feggin, if you don't want customers looking at balloons then move the darn display hiding the sign stating helium was out. I came to this store to get a few items. The Assist. Manager Feggin Conners was ringing up my groceries when I went to grab one of those black grocery separators, he yanks it out of my hand. He told me I need to get another one. It was a really aggressive yank like hes trying to steal the ball during a basketball game. I don't even care I'm gonna complain to corporate. Wheres your manners? Why you yanking stuff out of peoples hands without even a 'excuse me' or 'you can use that one, can I have that back?'. There are much more polite ways to do that. read more
