I've been going to Daiso for so many years, back when it wasn't even in San Diego. Though Daiso has gradually raised the price since then, it is still a great value that cannot be beat in California. Not sure why it smells like poop at this location. There's a great selection and items are properly spaced out. I wish they had location markers visible higher like other locations. I have to walk to the aisle to see what it has. Service is just okay. Self-checkout. They were restocking but kept dropping all the items then restocking them. This store is amazing and it is so huge! Way bigger than any of the other ones I have been too and so clean. Usually this store gets messy but the staff keeps up with it and everything is clean and well organized. Prices are great for what they offer. First of all, we all love Japanese products like Toyota and Honda, so DAISO was synonymous (for me) with these 2 words...quality and reliability... The store sign, clearly states that Japanese products are inside. The first product I turned over said it was made in China. Ok. It was a little floor mat, with no moving parts, and looked to be worth the $4.25 that it was. It was for our bathroom in our RV. No big deal. I bought all kinds of bins and baskets to organize the drawers. I was guesstimating the size. My guess was mostly right but there are a few things I would like to return, because I bought too many. There are absolutely NO RETURNS, NO REFUNDS, or EXCHANGES. So...BUYER BEWARE!!! I came across 3 clocks, all battery operated but when I asked the gal if one of them didn't work, could I get an exchange??? She basically said NO. Everything is AS IS like a used car LOL! For this reason, we will not return and highly recommend you go spend your hard earned money at Walmart or Target. Customers need a way to recoupe their money when the product is defective or doesn't work out. Our economy is shot to hell enough, without more corporate greed from more foreign businesses. I drove her me from my camp site on Camp Pendleton, 2 times. The first time they were closing so I returned the next day. I was stunned at this ridiculous no return policy. The store is clean. The lady that announces over the PA system is annoying as she continuously calls out all the rules. Try coming at about 8 in the evening and she announces closing for the next hour. An extremely wide variety of merchandise but no aisle designation so it's difficult to find items. The pricing is a bit confusing, too, though they have a sign indicating the conversion, it was difficult to find the Asian price marked on the package to begin with. This Daiso location has improved. Before, they had less stuff than at the Mira Mesa location. But they carry more items now. They have Japanese snacks and ramen, too. Most of the store is household goods, lots of plastic stuff. Fun place to see novelty items, popular with young people. read more

I browsed the store briefly and then went to the food section, filled my basket with delicious treats and checked out. Needed a bag - $0.20 charge. Anytime I drive by a Daiso I make a stop. They have a bunch of cute kitchen stuff, bathroom stuff, gardening, school and office stuff and also Japanese snacks. The best part about this place is pretty much everything there is under 15 dollars. I got a set of good quality mixing bowls for my kitchen and a handful of other handy items. They are being extra safe right now for COVID, the employees only let in a certain amount of people in at a time and all the staff wears masks too. It's such a fun place! read more

I visited Daiso a few months ago to see if they have Japanese pens and paper that those of us who are ridiculous about writing tools love. They didn't, certainly not Rhodia paper or Hi-Tec-C, but they have an excellent array of other items. I wandered around for an hour trying to figure out the pricing while checking out food items and tidy bins. It's really like a nicer dollar store with a more international flair. I prefer cashiers NOT wearing masks, which do not now and never have blocked viruses. Someone has to tell the truth, n'est-ce pas? It's a typical Daiso store with all the low cost items. Some items are pretty good while many of the items in the store are low quality. Then again, at these prices you don't expect much. The reason I come in is for the exfoliating body scrubs (Korean style). It's the Best! But as usual, you never just leave with the only thing came for. You always find few other things. First off, I really really wish they would put a Daiso closer to Escondido already! We drove 30 minutes just to shop here because we love it so much. If you love cute things or things from Japan, this store is amazing. This Daiso is a little small compared to some of the other ones I've been to but they've got pretty much everything. Almost everything in the store was $1.50 unless marked otherwise. I really wish I would have took pictures since their displays are so cute. They have holiday items up front, tons of adorable Disney merchandise, toys, decorations, beauty products, food, and more! Their kitchen section is about half the store and ranges from cute to elegant. Their mugs are just the most creative and adorable things ever. Tons of chopstick options too including large packages of disposable wooden chopsticks. I ended up just getting a few things since I didn't really need much this trip. I ALWAYS find what I am looking for, and then find things that I didn't know existed or could not find anywhere else, other than to order an extremely overpriced version online. I think this place is worth a visit, but the reality is unless you're planning on buying cheap useful stuff like plates or containers it's not worth a return visit. There are cool things here ( usually priced more than 1.50) but it's a different experience than 99c city. An example of something unique at Daiso are the colorful fly swatters. With design improvements like a scraping end and a pair of built in fly tweezers this makes it a must buy for summer. - I don't think any of the food / drink items are discounted. - Not everything is made in Japan! read more

A lot of fun to walk around and see what cute things can be bought for $1.50 or so. I'm a big fan of the stationary because they always have fun patterns and my handwriting sucks so if the paper is cute it might make up for it... Time to leave the review for Daiso. As my son and I teach ourselves Japanese and more about the history and culture of the country we were pretty excited and that there was a store that had some of the native food items in it. We've gone the gamut of trying all the different items in the store, to see what we might find palatable. Of course anything that's sweet, my son loves. Noodles ramen udon Etc are all easy cuz they're delicious no matter where they come from, a lot of the snacks are great because rice and salt how can you go wrong? We've had some interesting seaweed things that were weird and we've also had some odd spice combinations that weren't too exciting. But all in all we've really enjoyed trying all the new things and finding so many things we never knew existed that we love. I was at the store this morning at 9:45 and alas they don't open until 10 a.m. and I found myself saying please let me in! I need to get in! LOL The rest of the store is just random Dollar Store type stuff there is one small section that seems like it's stuff that's unique to Japanese style but for the most part it's just like a dollar store... For my 1,000th review, it will be for Daiso! This location was pretty big and when I stepped in, I saw makeup. It's the brands LA colors and some non high end makeup. I was surprised to see this because other locations in southern San Diego don't carry much makeup. I ended up picking up a pretty dark pink lip gloss. So pretty! My daughter and I love the snacks and drink section. We love the selection of snacks they have here. We picked up some Hello Kitty marshmallows, pocky sticks, strawberry Calpico drink and an iced tea for me. I love the selections here! So awesome. It's definitely bright in the store with white walls and bright lights. Everything is $1.50 or otherwise stated on the labels.
