What a nice Daiso location. It's right between the toys r us and Petco. Daiso's in general are all pretty clean and organized for the most part, but this one really stood out from the rest for me. It was super clean, well stocked and brightly lit. I swear that was not a single shadow in this place. This store is quite large too - if you're looking for some random stuff for use around the house, this is the place to go. I was able to score some "squash" scented air freshener for the car too - hell yeah! The selection of candy was also great - gummys, cola candy, popin cooking diy candy, they even have some different types of ice cream to try out. Do understand though, they don't offer refunds or exchanges but they do take credit card. A huge plus for me. Staff was polite. I'd definitely come by here again if I'm in the area. I came here with my friend last month to find some cheap cellphone accessories. I snagged a cellphone stand and one of those ring holders each for only $1.50. I love how Daiso now carries Disney themed goods as well. It's always fun to fill your basket with things you don't need haha. read more

I do want to note that you do get what you pay for, but I don't think anyone is exactly expecting super crazy amazing tier stuff for $1.50. For things like decorating your cubicle at work, though, Daiso is perfect! This is one of the biggest stores that I've seen for Daiso, which is awesome. Lots of room to mill around, explore, and look at things, and it's well organized. The seasonal stuff seems to be at the front of the store, snacks are located closer to the check out counter, etc etc. The store is incredibly clean and all of the workers I spoke with were really friendly and polite! There's lots of ample parking outside, so you can spend hours and hours going through the store. If you haven't been to Daiso before, this is the location you want to visit first! read more

Usually, LA has the best and biggest Japanese stores, but this particular Daiso beats all the ones I have been to in Torrance combined. It's huge! It's fun to wander up and down all the aisles. I get my ceramic ware, snacks, stationery, slippers, and toe socks here among other things. It's easy to find things to make gift bags. I skip the beauty products such as makeup and nail polish. My best tip is to look at expiration dates on food items!! Overall, I'm too snobby to go to a 99-cent only store, but not too to shop here. I will return! "Kawaii" (Cute) Japanese store! You can find many many items individually priced for just under 5 bucks here ~~ Pretty much it's a dollar store. You can find many household items popular to Japan. Bowls, glass & plastic wear, make up, face masks, cute stationary, Japanese food, candy, & Meiji chocolate items. They have a unique sock style as well. Want to wear socks with flip flops you can with these! That's only if you want to though. Ha! It's also like a container store as well...made up by small containers, boxes, and gift bags. Let's get one thing out of the way! If it's not obvious by my profile picture, I'm a huge weeb! So I was really looking forward to going to this store as I've been to a few other Daiso stores in the past! The store is huge!!! It has a giant assortment of Japanese items: cooking supplies, stationary, beauty supplies, snacks, toys, decor, and lots of other random things! Most of the items here are usually written in both Japanese and English, except for some of the beauty products. The store is well organized and was fairly clean and well stocked for how busy it was! There was some modern popular pop songs being played in the store, but the volume was not that loud. My only complaint would be that they had run out of bags and I had to buy a bag for 1.50 to take my stuff, but it's ok since I quite like the bag and will use it again in the future. read more

This is not about the store itself. I love the items they sell here, and there are so many unique things that you can't find anyway else for a very reasonable price. This is about the employees. Now, I have to say, I am brown, and I should have been used to being racially profiled by now, but it still hurts me to this day. I just came back from the store, and this one clerk came by to where I was shopping (in the kid's section) four times. Of course, she didn't ask if I need help. I think she was just checking to see that I wasn't stealing anything. Now I have never stolen anything in my life, and if I even thought about it growing up I would have gotten a spanking like no other. And then they did announcements about making sure the shoppers were watching their kids. Looking around, my kids were the only ones in the store. Granted, my kids were not well behaved. They were in the car for 1.5 hours to the store and had a little extra energy. But they didn't ruin anything, and when they started touching things I instantly started yelling on them. They are 2 and 4 years old, and I am teaching them to be a bit better behaved. But at the end of the days kids will not act like mini adults. They might start laughing and playing. Finally, my daughter told me half way through that she had to go to the potty. The clerk instantly did an announcement that there are no public toilets in the store. Luckily I was born in this country and even finished my masters in this country so I read the sign on the door prior to coming in the store that said no public bathrooms. I also have a kid's potty in the back of my car. There was no need to do an announcement just for me and my kids. Now, I have been to the Chino Hills Daiso after a long day of work, looking horrible (not showered) and have never been mistreated. The Chino Hills employees never follow me and always treat me with respect. I definitely give them kudos for that and will be giving them a 5 star review for that Now, at my work there are racial sensitivity training. Maybe Daiso can do that too. I spent over 100 dollars at the store, but feel like I was treated quite poorly. I think now that I have kids, I just don't want them to go through the racist things that I had to go through growing up. This is the best Asian food market i have ever been. they combined grocery and also food stall in the same building. you will can find pretty much anything you can think about japanese food. price not too pricy and i would say there are about over 20 traditional Japanese food includes Japanese beers. Just went today! Found a few things I've been needing to organize my place, by I only had a credit card and my total was ~$4. I didn't need $10 worth of stuff (the minimum), so I just left. Have to bring cash next time. Very clean and organized! Loved the mugs and other dishes, but the warnings about possible lead steered me away. They're probably fine, but I don't want to chance it. Another note! They play Japanese music on Pandora or something, and some of them got really yell-y. Like tame Japanese screamo It kinda stressed me out tbh! Made me want to get out of there! A couple kids started crying around then, so I knew I wasn't the only one uncomfortable with it! Just don't need to listen to unintelligible yelling while I'm shopping is all. So glad they've expanded out here! Wish it were here when I lived nearby! Daiso is the best store to have around when you touchdown in a city far from home and you realize you need a nail clipper, a back support rest, gift bags, and other odds and ends! This particular store had all kinds of great items including things I have only ever seen at the biggest Daiso in North America in Richmond, BC for gardening and other useful household items. I was so happy they opened a store in this location. That means I didn't have to wait until we were in the San Diego to get some really cool things for a great price. Yes, it is like your Dollar Tree or 99 cent store, but they have a wider variety of fun things. This is wonderful for the parent making party bags for their kids parties. But, it is fun to fill party bags for adult as well. You have to come see for yourself, you are bound to find one cute or fun merchandise. They also have a small area with some staples for cooking, some snacks and even candy. This place is a good size and parking is not an issue. The staff at the register were helpful and friendly, oh, staff out on the floors too. Really, you need to come out to the store. You are bound to find something you don't need. Have you ever had to stay up late and coffee is not helping? Here's a simple solution, walk into Daiso (they close at 9pm) and BOOM! the brightness instantly wakes you up. It's slightly uncomfortable at first, but you get used to it as you start to walk down the aisles grabbing random stuff to buy. I would recommend to check out this store but, be warned, the $1.50 items add up quickly. I was once behind a lady at the checkout that spent over $100! If you try to spend that much at the 99cent store, you will actually need a cart, but not at Daiso since not everything is $1.50. read more

we were next door at PETCO stocking up on chewy things for the dogs and turtle sushi (feeder fish), when the daughter noticed DAISO was having their "grand opening" next door. DAISO's sort of JAPANESE-AMERICA's answer to the dollar store. since MAX (our AUSTRALIAN CATTLEDOG) was with us, i couldn't go inside. gave the girl a twenty (we stopped at an ATM on the way over) and paced back and forth anxiously out front while she "shopped." came out and astoundingly long time later with a bag full of snacks, candy and 7 cents in change. she got an A+ in math and an A++ in working the dad. read more

Though most things are $1.50 or so I've always seen the name, Daiso, but was pleasantly surprised when I came upon this store by that name which just opened this month. It's super clean, bright, modern and colorful! All the things I adore about Japanese pop culture. Great place to find random items for organization purposes, kitchen items, obscure Asian cooking utensils and fun little gift items. Most packing is in Japanese so be aware of trying to understand how something works or what's in it. They also have a section with Japanese snack items! I nabbed a bag of instant miso packets, shrimp chips & red bean bread rolls. yum!!!! Sales people were kind and informative. It's not an everyday shop but it's a fun trip every once and awhile. I've been coming here for a long time for the Aquarius, Japanese coffee and little toys for my daughter. Today I came in for my weekly trip, however I had an outside drink (with a lid) and was kicked out with no consideration. I offered to leave the drink in the front and told no then immediately kicked out in a rude manner. Mind you I was with my 4 year old daughter, she loves this store, now she's sad and thinks they don't like us. I will now do my shopping at the on base commissary since they have the same drinks I enjoy from Japan are much cheaper there. I will NEVER support this store ever again. The asian Gods have spoken and they finally placed an all asian goods store right in the heart of Oceanside! YAYYYYY!!! I felt like a kid in a candy store surrounded with pocky sticks, japanese drinks and snacks and even other snacks that I cant find anywhere else that I use to eat a lot when I was a kid. The prices here are extremely dirt cheap! Almost like a 99 cents store with quality in mind (Kudos!) The store is very well kept and very bright, you can almost eat off the floor with how well organized and attention to detail theyve put in here. They even carry dishware and kitchenware stuff at a very good price and their all so cute to have, so if your just moving in somewhere or need a few more utensils I highly recommend giving this place a shot, you wont be dissapointed I promise. Last time I was in here I spent over $60 in a matter of minuets and I normally freak out, but when I spent it here...I was smiling ear to ear with the items I got ^_^ The only thing I wish they had was like a loyalty members card, because I would be in here every other day just collecting and hoarding all of their goods lol. Daiso is one of my favorite stores to visit because there are a large number of inexpensive random items that can be found here. I have been to Daiso in the US and in Japan and this store in particular is very well lit and has a clean appearance. Although, it may seem big, I have visited Daiso's in Japan that are 2 or 3 stories high with endless amounts of Chinese made merchandise. The stationary section would be as big as this entire store itself. But being that this is in the United States, nearly all their goods are imported from China to Japan to the US, hence the price being $1.50 and not a dollar (approx. 100 yen). The shelves are well stocked and not run down looking or foul smelling like a typical dollar store would be. Items start at $1.50 and go up depending on what it is. You can see on the label if it is above that price. The inventory in the store changes throughout the months. In the summer time, you can find children's body boards for $5, during Halloween time-frame you can find masks, during the Christmas season, you can find Christmas themed jingle bell cat collars. It is completely random what you can find here and it is not always the same stuff so it is worth revisiting from time to time. Parking is plentiful which is a huge plus because if you go anywhere else, parking if hard to get, especially near the front of the store. Prices are reasonable and the quality is not too bad if you try to compare similar items with US dollar stores. Definitely worth a visit. Just know that there are no refunds. read more

I am beyond livid at this point. I walked in the store with my service animal and so-called assistant manager "IZUKO" came up to me and told me that I couldn't have my dog there. Mind you, I have a severe PTSD. When I told her that she's a service animal, she asked if I was "blind or deaf" and if the dog was for that. UM WHAT?! When I left the store, I called and asked when the manager was coming in, not the assistant manager. This employee decided to hang up on me so I had to call back. When I called back, I know that it was the assistant manager. She answered "Hello?". I asked her when the manager was coming in. She said Tuesday... I then proceeded to ask her the name of the manager. She responded "I cannot tell you that, that's a personal information". Now I have NEVER gone to a place where they did not disclose the manager's first name. It wasn't like I was asking for the manager's full name and address. Attached is the right for the service animals to be in facilities and it is illegal to ask. When a person with a service animal enters a public facility or place of public accommodation, the person cannot be asked about the nature or extent of his disability. I am beyond upset about this situation. I have gone to Burlington coat factory right after and they greeted me and my service dog with a smile. One of the things I love about America is that you can take things back to stores or exchange them without a problem. This is something that an advanced and highly developed country does because stores in this country understand how important it is to keep customers happy in order to keep them coming back. We are used to this in the US and probably take it for granted. Costco understands how to keep their customers happy with this concept and utilizes it well to help them thrive. Foreigners love this about America because it is something they have never seen before. Well, I have finally found a store that does NOT like one of America's great attributes of living in this great country, and that store is called Daiso Japan. In America, we are allowed to take things back and/or exchange them. Daiso is trying to make it very clear that they believe people should NOT be allowed to return or exchange items regardless if there is a legitimate reason. Daiso Japan has 49 stores now in the US and are hoping to create a chain of stores that defy logic. Their policy is NO RETURNS, NO EXCHANGES. This is obviously a great policy for a store that doesn't want to be bothered with customers returning items in order for them to maximize profits, but is not such a great policy for the consumer who may have a legitimate reason to return something. I was told about this store and this was my first experience at Daiso. I bought a cane for a 97 year old relative at Daiso. They had different sizes, and it was hard to determine which length to get. After paying for it, it became obvious that it might be too small, but I had not even left the premises yet so I told a cashier clerk that I needed a larger one, wanted to exchange it for a longer cane, and went back to get one that was two inches longer. While I was getting it, she said she called back to the manager who told her NO EXCHANGES! Next I asked to speak to the manager since I had not even left the premises. It was 2:45pm and she told me the manager was having her lunch. Nevertheless, she walked back to tell the manager that the customer wanted to talk to her. However, the manager would not come out and talk to me, and I was told again that she was having her lunch and that the manager said there were NO EXCHANGES. I sincerely believe all the employees that I ran into were very nice and helpful in the store and get an 'A', but the manager gets an 'F' for not taking one minute away from her lunch to talk to me about a legitimate issue and not allowing me to exchange an item that had not even left the premises. When a manager is not available, there should always be an acting manager in their absence. Daiso apparently does not understand this elementary administrative procedure. I found out that 40% of the items in Daiso come from China. Their cheapest items are $1.50 and many of them looked very similar to the Dollar Tree or the 99 Cent Only store. That's a 50% Daiso increase in price over those two stores. Daiso Japan can go back to Japan and take their NO RETURN, NO EXCHANGE policy back to Japan as far as I am concerned. We certainly don't need companies in America that won't allow returns or exchanges when customers have legitimate reasons. Daiso should continue opening stores in countries where people have no clue that you are allowed to take things back. This is the Daiso way and not the American way. I won't be going back. To use the excuse "No exchanges, and I'm having lunch" is NOT the American way. DUH, GET AN ACTING MANAGER WHILE YOU HAVE LUNCH! This store doesn't deserve to operate in this country.
