I had some bad experiences in some stores before with some employees or even some so-called managers who didn't know what customer service was all about or couldn't care less. But I ended up in a shouting match with a totally incompetent manager, all because I wanted to return a lousy carton of milk that had gone bad when I opened it, and that I had bought the day before in that store. Even though I was polite and friendly when I tried to return this item, I ended up being treated by the manager of this store with resentment, rudeness, being totally dismissive and condescending towards me, disrespect, and talking to me like I was some child or some bum from the street that wants to cheat her. Her aggressiveness and total demeanor were absolutely uncalledwerefor. Especially for this ridiculous reason for an item of $1.25, and I even had the receipt for it. She started this scene and this ugly situation for no reason other than trying to show her " position". Nothing else. Except that she tried to pull this off with the wrong fellow. No matter what. Just be aware that when you buy any kind of food, it is spoiled/gone bad already when you come home and unpack it. Don't even try to get your money back. You're just good enough to pay for this, but that is all. Just a reminder. The rule here in CA is: " While California law (Civil Code 1723) allows stores to refuse returns on perishables, it does not override the implied warranty of merchantability, which dictates that food products must be fit for human consumption. I stopped by this Dollar Tree with my sisters this morning right when they open. I wanted to see what kind of Halloweeb decorations they had out and was looking for a solar powered pumpkin. They had some great selections of Halloween decor but I didn't find the solar powered pumpkin that I was looking for. My sister was shopping for arts & crafts materials so I walked around the store to see what else they have. This Dollar Tree store is pretty big so more than likely you'll find something you might need. This Dollar Tree is not in the best location, there was a homeless person outside asking for spare change and the store is outdated. They also sell balloons here as well if you need that. There was only 1 checkout aisle open when we came so we had to wait a while since the person in front of us got a lot of stuff. read more

I went to this dollar tree and was impressed. The parking lot is medium size with bunch of business, it can get busy or you can park next door at the indoor swapmeet lot. This dollar tree is very big and organized. You can find anything you need in stock. Other locations are always wiped out with stock. However, here you can find anything with ample stocked shelves. Only thing that was weird there's not many carts to shop in store. I think I counted 7 carts, no baskets to shop either. My cashier today was a really nice asian lady, she was very courteous. You can save a lot of money coming here and get anything you need. It's a win win! read more

Huge location, maybe the biggest Dollar Tree store I've been to. The parking lot is big, but pretty busy so be careful navigating it. I didn't find what I was looking for here, but they have a great selection of home decor, cards, food and drinks, I even found LaCroix here. It's fun that everything is $1 and you can get an impulse buy. Great place to shop for party supplies, wrapping paper, especially if you have an event and need fun decor or paper plates, cups, things you dispose of, come here, the selection is great! read more

How this store hasn't been shut down yet, only God knows. They have massive lines, no one jumps in to help, and they have zero common sense to think getting the customers out is more important than putting away merchandise. They have a ton of incomplete stock (i.e. plungers with no stick). After a particaularly frustrating search for a handle for the plunger head, I proceesed to wait in line for 15 mins. only to arrive at the front and told because the item has no barcode, it cannot be sold- despite that every plunger head (approx. 20 of them on the shelf) had no barcode. No offer to find a barcode or price with an unknown UPC. (Which a lot of stores do, when they items have no barcodes, based on price advertised.) Literally, my time was wasted. Absolutely terrible service, messy store, horrendously lazy employees. read more

Price said $1.25 for small juice. It rang as $5. Manager took off the $5 (x3) and left me standing there while she went to lunch (removing the other juices from the shelf on the way). The cashier couldn't ring $1.25 w/o manager and I waited and waited then walked away very thirsty and irritated. read more

It's a Dollar Tree, so don't come here expecting to find anything easily or to find any employee willing to help you. Despite their lack of customer service or organization skills, I enjoy coming here because it's budget friendly! They always have seasonal decorations, a great candy selection, and almost all the kitchen appliances you could possibly need. Sometimes I come here first before checking Amazon or other stores and get lucky! Miss the days when their prices were actually $1 though. read more

I'm in line for 15 minutes to buy two things. Ridiculous. Line all the way down the aisle so I ask Javier cAn he get another cashier to help out And he says nothing. Then a little Caucasian woman walks up and asks the same thing and he says no. I'm writing this review while standing here. Sucks! I saw other staff in the store, as a matter of fact a very nice young lady helped me find a box a gift box to hold some gift cards, she stepped away from stocking to help me do that. He just had a very nasty attitude. He needs to learn better customer service. And the store was hot so we're all standing there sweating and here I am on my way to event. read more

I don't know about you guys, but I'm still feeling the effects of this recession! My pockets are no fatter, student loans haven't disappeared, my bills still need to be paid, and gas prices aren't falling fast enough. Thank goodness for Dollar Tree...or as my Salvi coworker recently taught me "el Dólar Tree"! :-p I've been stocking up on all sorts of items lately, especially household and pantry staples. Bags of rice, pasta, sour cream, even a half-dozen eggs, dish soap, candy, 16-pack of Christmas cards. All for a dollar. I can get 2 weeks worth of items for 10-15 bucks at this place. Then when I'm done, I just go next door to Fresh 'n Easy for my meats, almond milk, and veggies for another 10 bucks. My scandal is handled. I have no shame in my game. I am a regular customer for Dollar Tree stores and i always find something and finding good customer service. Unfortunately, some individuals make business worthless with their lack of professionalism. Mary Ann (Manager) was called at the register to resolve my issue with a return, that I was told verbally 1 week before that I could bring it back, but she got all inpatient from 0-3 second yelling "NO" to me about 8 time in a row, like i was asking for free money. I explain her the situation and she closed herself and did not want to be at least polite, she took my stuff and walked away with it, I did not get a credit neither my purchase. In other words, they stole my stuff like I did not pay for it. I have contacted the corporate office and left a detail message, now ask me if they took a moment or email me in regards my claim and situation.... Nada!! read more

I like going to dollar stores. If I had millions of dollars I would probably still go to buy stuff dollar stores. It's pretty cool to be able to take a hundred dollar bill and in and walk out with ALMOST 100 items in exchange....I am allowing for tax of course which is why I said ALMOST 100 items. That being said, when it comes to dollar store, the Dollar Tree on Sherman Way is at the top of the list. I have friends who have still never gone into a dollar store. Do they accept credit card they ask? Of course they do! This Dollar Tree carries some very quality items. I remember I came here one time and they had Pantene shampoo available. I think I bought 10 bottles! This is the place to go if you want to buy items for a party. They are only a dollar. Why anyone would go to a 'party store' for party items is beyond me. Toys, wedding stuff, school supplies, containers, chips, glassware, paper products...you can find a wide variety of items at the Dollar Tree. Yes, you can also get ready to go helium balloon here but don't get helium balloons if you plan on doing one of those awful balloon releases. The balloons go up into the air and then come down into our oceans and then the little fishes ingest them and die. So....don't do that. ;-( But what you SHOULD do is go on down to the Dollar Tree an pick yourself up some stuff .....for a buck! :-) read more

Came here at 8:56 pm to quickly grab toilet paper, within two minute of walking up and down the aisles this rude employee practically yelled at me to hurry up and make a purchase or leave I understand you guys close at 9:00 pm but JEEZ, be a little nicer asking about it. Very rude customer service. Especially by some short woman younger side. She practically yelled at me to get my own stuff out of my basket. I o my had 4 items, is it beneath her to take them out? I guess hospitality is dead nowadays they need to replace her ASAP. If she doesn't like her job she shouldn't be a cashier since that's the frontline of all business. She needs to be educated on customer service and not yell or have an attitude. Then before it was my turn she also took a long sip of her water and still made me wait. After that is when she yelled at me to get my items on the counter. Very rude. I asked her name and she yelled Jenny at me. I will not be coming here again. SCREW THE $.99 STORE My wife stumbled on Dollar Tree back when there was one on Van Nuys Blvd and Vanowen, ive never been in a Dollar Tree before... and luckly it was close to our sons 1st birthday so we loaded up on dollar maylar balloons for $.99 each (by the way...dont fall for $.99 stores balloons, they charge you for the helium, of course u need to blow it up and they know this) and other birthday stuff, i loved this place since then. Sadly, they closed that one a few months after and i was pissed cause they had good stuff. Then i see this location opened up and i was so happy because this location is bigger, brighter, nicer and WAY better. They have awesome household stuff for $.99 and the baby shower and birthday and toy section is AWESOME. Someone also mentioned it but if you are a teacher or teachers aid, you NEED to check this place out. They have a great section of greeting cards for $.99 and like i said before you can get big ballons for $.99 and you can grab a plastic weight to hold it down for free. They have alot of food for $.99 also but i dont really buy food at these places except for a few cans of Chef Boy 'Ardee Ravoli here and there or maybe some gummy bears. One thing that sucked is when we had my sons birthday a few months ago we bought about 15 mickey mouse balloons a couple weeks before his birthday because we didnt want them to run out and the manager said if we kept the receipt, he would let us bring them back the day of the event and blow them up for free....he was really cool. Now fast forward to a couple weels ago and we tried to do the same thing cause they had these cute baby shower balloons and we asked if we could do that and the manager said "that was the old managers doing, im the new one and i cant let you do that" what a bitch!! I couldnt understand why she wouldnt let us do that. So minus 1 star. This dollar tree is GREAT for cosmetics! It may seem like 99% of the time they have the same make up but its that once in a blue moon that they suddenly get a bunch of really cool stuff. I've scored physicians formula blushes, wet n wild eyeshadows, Milani eyeliners, revlon nail polishes. It's also well stocked, clean and there's usually parking right in front. read more

I said yes I did u Just scanned it , then she made me come back to show her my receipt to see if the items was on my receipt!! Yes, they were needed, and she did not know where to find them. I bought her several and if she needs more, she knows where to go to buy them!! She was very happy to have them. Wow, unbelievable! This is the second time i've been here and the last! The first time I came here to coupon & the ACTUAL manager (a guy) , assisted a new person and let me coupon passed the maximum. (4 per TRANSACTION not PERSON.) This woman who said she IS THE MANAGER (after i asked for the manager) said I cannot use my coupons because it's 4 PER PERSON not TRANSACTION. I had my sister in law with me for this reason just in case something happens, which it did. She told me my sister can't do the transaction because she's a minor. A MINOR. Did you know minors can shop too? It's not illegal. Then she said "No she can't use the coupons because she's paying the same way you just paid in the last transaction." Excuse me? That makes no sense. No sense at all. I am completely livid. Yes I did have other items (Yes I was paying for other things with out coupons.) I left and got my mother in law to come and do the transaction. After we waited in a longer line she then called over another lady because she was arguing with me and holding up a line to come over and open a register. This lady was really nice and took my coupons and told us that "Mary Ann always does this and acts like this with customers." Wow. I was just taken aback by her behavior. Well I'm giving three stars just because of the items they sell not for customer service or the actual store. Customer service wasn't that good the cashier wasn't too friendly she just seemed super annoyed that she even had to be there. The store was extremely messy I had to dig around to find stuff I was looking for. Their bathroom was absolutely disgusting, the toilet was stocked up and toilet paper everywhere. So to get to the good news about why I put three stars..... I came to the store looking for school supplies and learning activities for my 5 and 3 year old. If you're doing a theme party of any sort, this place should be your first stop to stock up on little party trinkets, favors, decorations and more to make your party a show stopper.
