Ok! Now where do I begin? As an avid Dollar Tree shopper I was bummed to see the Dollar Tree location on Waukegan Rd & Dempster St shut down, but I was well aware that it would be soon after the closing of the Salvation Army in the plaza. Its location sat perfectly enroute to my destination, so I made regular trips to it. Upon it closing, the clerks informed customers of this location on Golf Rd & Washington Ave and best believe I mapped it out being that I am an avid shopper at Dollar Tree. I regularly visit with the interest of purchasing supplies I use daily such as deodorant, body wash, toilet paper and mailing envelopes which are just a few supplies that keep me in-and-out of Dollar Tree regularly. And on occasions I purchase decorations to hang on my door that pertain to our seasons which all cost no more than a dollar! Prior to visiting this location I gave myself a 10-minute shopping window because I can easily get lost in looking at dollar items sold. I also make out a list of what I need prior to walking in so that I do not purchase useless things that I may not need at the moment. The inner interior of the store mirrors other locations, but the store set-up slightly differs. And the items presented are typical to any other location, but as like other stores there is always something a tad different in comparison. In this case, I took notice of the 7 pound bags of 'Premium Ice' inside the freezer which was the number one thing that caught my eye during this visit. Whoever would have thought that Dollar Tree would have access to ice because I sure did not! Never seen it until I visited this location. As for parking, this location does have parking that is fitting to the store yet it seems so congested due to there being other businesses coinciding with it in Washington Commons - Shopping center. Even though I go out of my way to visit this location, the thought of purchasing my typical needs for only a dollar outweighs the extra trip out. We have been hearing about this strip mall in Morton Gro being torn down for years. The rumors of what was going to become of this mall, so many variations of what is going in here. They are actually in the process of doing just that. Sad to say the whole mall where my LA Fitness is at is being demolished one building at a time. First the store on the Far East side of the mall was torn down last summer. The former Dominick's has been vacated for several years, that was just torn down. Next they are going back to the east side and tearing down the stand alone Salvation Army Store. Next little piggy to go after the Salvation Army Store is The Dollar Tree. Wahhhh cry me a River. I was told they are going to relocate somewhere about 2 blocks away I have used this store from time to time because of the convenience & location a few doors over from my LA Fitness. I lost my lock one day and came here and bought a lock for you guessed it $1. They also have greeting cards from 2 for $1 or $1/a piece instead of paying $4 or $5 dollars for a card someone is going to read, look at and toss out. I don't mean to be cheap, but if you can save a few bucks why not especially knowing that the card will probably be looked at & tossed out. This is a great store, and I come here often. It's pretty well organized but today had one of the best cashiers. My purchase was about 100 dollars worth of little items and I'm so grateful for Elmut's help. One of the nicest and most helpful workers I have meet here. The store itself is fine. We go here frequently when in the area. However, I am considering not returning after I saw a store Manager and workers make fun of a customer that appeared not to speak English as a first language. The woman was trying to return an item without a receipt and she was trying to use her credit card statement as proof of her purchase. I heard the Dollar Store Manager tell the woman that he couldn't take the return or do an exchange without a receipt more than once to the woman. After telling her firmly that he wasn't allowed to make returns or exchanges without a receipt because that is the policy at the Dollar Store the Manager left the counter and said out loud I don't know if I need an interpreter or if I am speaking English. Then the male and female Dollar Store workers laughed out loud and repeated what the Manager said about not speaking English. I felt bad for the lady as she was still standing at the counter and asked again if they could take her return and that she had her credit card statement to show them that she made a purchase. After that type of public humiliation I don't think I will return to this location again. read more

I found a lot of items that are not at my local Dollar Tree. So I was excited. I almost lost my mind in here. May have went over my budget. The store was clean , shelves almost fully stocked. Some not. It was only one cashier. I walked up with her telling Mgr. that she needed to be gone by 5:30pm no later. I think he agreed, not sure. Anyways she proceeded to scan items quickly. I had a lot of Sh!t. I was impressed. If I'm in your neck of the woods again. I will stop by. Thanks again. You were awesome. read more

I came in here very briefly after work. I knew exactly what I was looking for, so I was in and out rather quickly. The parking lot was easy to get in and out of. I found a space near the front of the lot, despite all of the other nearby businesses. Store was very well organized. There were about 6-8 people stocking one aisle while I was here. I don't know if this is normal, but it was cool to see in-action. Everything was so neat and tidy on the shelves and there weren't a bunch of boxes lying around all willy nilly-except for the aisles that were being stocked. My cashier was super friendly. I'll definitely be back as I now work close to this location. read more

I love that things are $1. But the SERVICE was HORRID. I went in for 2 Balloons, thats it. I asked the cashier if someone could help me she said "I'm the only one to give her a minute." I said fine take your time i'll be waiting. WAITING WAITING nothing. I helped myself to balloons and got in line thinking when it was my turn she can fill them. WAITING WAITING in line after like 15min. Got to the cashier... She was flustered thinking oh you want them filled too. Thinking its just me a LONG LINE and i have to step away to fill these balloons. (not her fault she was ALONE) BUT she filled 1 balloon barely ran out of helium.. she asked another cashier to help That cashier told me to WAIT because she had customers in line. THEY HELPED EVERYONE ELSE OUT BUT ME! I had waited in the line, I had paid for my items, and was still waiting on service when I should have been first. Can someone please coach your new (female) cashier on some basic customer service skills? I came in, as I usually do, tonight to buy a paper. By that time, there were only a few left and all of them were at one register, which was not the one with the light on. Then I started walking towards the back of the registers-not the door- with the paper intact and to get something else. I was horrified when she came over and grabbed the paper out of my hands and proclaimed that they could only be taken from the register. Fine, but the only paper at her register had been decimated by other customers. I am with you all the way about coupon theft, but I was buying the whole paper and taking it to the open register. Really, is it necessary to grab merchandise out of your customers' hands and make them feel like criminals? Maybe advise her to say something like, "I'll hold the paper up here for you while you finish your shopping," and that's just an example. Or, maybe just move the remaining newspapers to the open register so they can be guarded? Wouldn't that make more sense? I don't think that's ever happened to me in any store, anywhere. And I expect that it will not happen to me or anyone else again. Thank you! read more

I can't believe NO one has made a review of this outstanding place yet. My family started going to this place because we needed to save money on EVERYTHING!!! They have everything from frozen foods to anything novelty!!! I found Yardley of London natural soap here. They even Dial's BASIC soap too. Both are naturals and free of any harsh chemicals. They also carry name brands like AJAX, Reynold's Aluminum wrap, Betty Crockers kitchen utensils all for a dollar each!!! I try to look for Made in the USA products which are available here as well. Staff are very friendly. Cashiers always courteous and nice. Can't find anything bad to say about this place, really. We always go here at least twice a week. I see people come and go all the time so i'm not the only one liking this place. They have their own website where you can find helpful feedback from the customers of merchandise available at Dollar Tree. Good to read them before buying products!!! Staff knows us already since we have been coming here for few years now and will continue to do so for more years to come. read more

I shop at Dollar tree for cheap party supplies/balloons and for annual charity supplies. Unfortunately, this specific location has consistently terrible service, rude cash register staff and management, and never enough coverage at the registers. The Dollar Tree on Dempster in Morton Grove is far more polite. Came in to exchange chaffing fuel tins for new ones - I told the manager they were defective and I could not get them open, and that they had leaked everywhere in my trunk after purchasing them. Instead of just exchanging $5 worth of merchandise the manager accused me of opening and using the fuel and refused an exchange. The tins were clearly leaking from the bottom of the tin and unopened (I challenged her to try and open one of the tins and she could not). It's not a matter of $5, it's a matter of having a rude demeanor and condescending tone towards your customers when they are being polite. Oh well, lost one customer. I will be taking my business to the Morton Grove location from now on. read more

I appreciate the Extra precaution taking place but stuck my hand out to grab my change and cashier man as loud as he can be "no contact" okay bro just drop the change in my hand. The cashier Dave REALLY needs to work on his customer service. I avoid this dollar tree because of him. But since I was in a hurry ,I stop here and he was very rude . I told him I should have hit no on the machine asking me for a receipt. He said rudely back. "Well you didn't" and handed me the receipt. Last time i came here my son told him thank you 3 times and he didn't say your welcome or anything. My son his loud so I know he heard him. No excuses. Personally. If he didn't want to be called in today then he should have stayed home. And not complain about it at work. After reading other reviews on google that were made about Dave the old man with grey hair . I'm honestly surprised he still works there. I understand that you are short staffed. But to have someone work there who is rude and people complained about him multiple times and clearly nothing has been done. I will be making phone calls first thing tommorrow. There were 30 customers trying to check out with one register open. The other cashier was blowing up balloon and the other one I guess was leaving. When I made a comment it took way to long Asian cashier gave me attitude and said "it's Sunday everyone is coming from church" so if you know this happens every Sunday have more employees working as easy and that. Also, she threw the product separator very unprofessional. Never coming back. read more

There were 8 people in line and it took 5 min before someone came out to open a second register. Way too long when you can see people waiting. Could hear people laughing in the office. Also was with my 87 year old grandma and there were no carts for her to push. She needs the carts to help her walk and to carry what she needed to buy. Unacceptable. read more
