My dog sitter is a dedicated junk food fanatic, and last weekend I needed to gather together snacks for him. You might not expect it, but Dollar Tree is a veritable gold mine for this! And I'm picky! Only acceptable options are brand names, and I snatched up Bugles, Snyders of Hanover pretzels and crackers, pudding, animal crackers, Now & Laters, Cow Tails, and several boxes of movie theater candy. AND I found 2 pound bags of Zilka's pure cane sugar! That stuff is amazing. Food isn't discounted because it is expired, old, or damaged. The especially great items are usually discontinued products, but otherwise DT just somehow gets a killer deal on some stuff. I know it sounds crazy, but next time you need junk food and don't have anything specific in mind, stock up here first. The store was packed, thus a little messy, but it didn't feel disorganized or dirty. While I was waiting in line, I spied some wrapping paper, and they had super cute Hallmark ones: loads of Disney, Elf and other popular pop culture characters, and I could not leave without some hilariously tacky Christmas Vacation rolls. As I was watching the cashier scan everything, for just a moment, I had that thought like, "Dang! This is a bunch of stuff! It's going to add up to a lot of money!" And....my total was $20.00. Score! Sprouts anchors this strip center, so the parking lot can be busy at times, but there is usually sufficient space. The cashier was friendly, and though it was crowded on my visit, and often at Dollar Tree that spells a long wait at check out, that was not the case here.

Wow. What a mess the place was. I suppose shopping at the $1.25 store for bargains means having to put up with some mess. The aisles were treacherous as there was stuff all over. I nearly tripped over something everywhere I turned. This was in the middle of the day.

$14 later, got everything we need!! From spices to notebooks, they have those "random" items you need.

Not too shabby, honestly. We came in looking for a smorgasbord of items and was able to dig up a few. Spices, pens, tupperware, notebooks, and some snacks for the road. I am a little bummed about how unorganized everything felt. Every time I have come here, there are piles of boxes with goodies just waiting to be unloaded and placed on shelves. I literally had to step over cardboard and climb around piles to reach my basil leaves. All in all, if you can get in and get out before your OCD kicks in, you'll be great. And the fact that everything is a buck, well, that's a freakin' score. TIPS & TRICKS: * Snacks are the best to get here! Treats and cake mixes are awesome. * You can find all of the "basics" here: utensils, paper, towels, etc.

I bought a few things for a small gift basket that included some of the things I mentioned above. An $8 individual ceramic hot pot type bowl that you can heat directly on your stovetop. It had a beautiful cherry blossom design. I also got a chopsticks set, and bamboo hot pad for setting hot pots or pans on. The cashier was kind enough to open the box for me so I could inspect the hot pots for damage. As other people have mentioned, it's like an Asian version of our dollar tree store, only Daiso prices range from $2.25-$18. It's very organized and clean. They have so much variety from toys, to stationary, gardening items, organizing items, laundry items and so much more. It's definitely worth a visit to browse everything they have to offer.

There's tons of stationary items, lots of small storage, little cooking utensils, makeup brushes and bottles, they even had a section for fishing lures. The reason for knocking the star is that the closest comparison is Dollar Tree but it's more expensive. The cheapest items are $2.25, but they carry some of the same things as Dollar-Fifty-And-Up Tree like the same LA Awesome sprays and LA Looks makeup. Another example, I was admiring a small metal trinket tray that turned out to be $6 but only seemed of Dollar Tree quality. I curious what others think, totally worth a stroll if nothing else.

Both times, it was Mason and Andre that came to assist us and they were both WONDERFUL!!! They were so helpful and patient and kind while I felt like I was full of chaotic energy trying to help get everything ready. It was a breath of fresh air to have them both show up with such great energy and it helped me feel less stressed, too! So, thank you to Mason and Andre for helping us in a hectic time and thank you for being awesome while you did it! And thank you for pivoting with me and taking more stuff than we had originally planned on. It was such a smooth process and I am so grateful.

We tried the Murray location thrift shop next. It's smaller than the DI. I'd the say they are overall pickier about the quality of the items they offer to the public than the DI. The prices are what you'd expect from a thrift store. Overall it was a good experience. More furniture related items than you typically see at the DI too with a smaller selection of clothes. But everything in the store was in decent shape. It's well organized. The lines move slowly. That might be its only drawback. I highly recommend this place.
