4 stars because I come to this location a lot and every cashier I've encountered has always been so personable, so cool and down to earth, so helpful and willing to help really providing excellent customer service. Tonight "Daisy" was an example. Now management, a whole other story. You'd swear they owned the stores the way they micro manage their staff and are hard a$$ about every little thing. I experienced one this evening, unreal how she was watch dogging the service being provided to me. This was my own experience of the micro managing, again I come here often and have listened to several cashier/associates who through a smile say they won't be there long, subtly suggesting they do not work under the most kindest conditions. 4 stars because it's hard to work under people who take advantage of their "power"/"position" to jerk and boss people around. I will Never go to the dollar tree again! The employees and manager are so ignorant and there is always new employees working when I go in. The last visit I purchased 20$ worth of crap(because that's what it on it is) and went to pay with a credit card that had a credit on it and was declined ok weird so let's try Apple Pay with 500 and change on it, declined ok let's try my Venmo card with 300 and change on it, again declined. So now that I'm totally embarrassed with everybody in line thinking I have no money I asked to see the manager. So he tells me to call my bank. What...it was three different institutions with plenty of money in each of them. Maybe it's your employees that don't know what they're doing! The customer service at this location is absolute trash. They never have more than one manager and one additonal employee at a time, so basically you can't find a soul and you stand at the register forever. I placed , and paid for, an online order to be shipped to the store. I received the email saying it was ready for pickup, so I headed into the store. The person at the cashier was unable to help me at all (apparently ONLY managers are trained to fulfill online orders), so they got the manager for me. The manager kept me waiting about 25 minutes while they meandered around to the back, called THEIR manager, and finally just told me it wasn't there, and to come back the next day. Zero help, and zero interest in moving faster than a snail's pace. Fast forward to today, the next day. I call ahead to be sure it is there. The manager is very abrupt with me on the phone, but lets me know that my order is there. I tell them that I'll be coming in later in the day to pick it up. They don't mention that I need to come at a certain time, or avoid a certain time. When I arrive, I speak to an associate, who tells me that they can't help me, only a manager can, and that they're on a conference call. At this point, the lack of customer service has become ridiculous - I ask the associate to go tell the manager that I am here, and need to pick up my order. When the associate knocks on the office door, the manager opens it a tiny crack, and I hear them tell the associate that I'll need to wait for 20 minutes until they're off their call. What?! I already wasted 25 minutes the previous day, I am sure as hell not going to stand in the dollar tree for another 20 minutes today. Associate was rude, and just said oh well, I can't help you, you'll have to wait. Seriously? Making a PAID customer wait 20 minutes for the manager to get off a conference call, presumably with other managers, and presumably where they will discuss sales and CUSTOMER SERVICE? I was finally able to pick up my item on my 3rd try, the following day. It was remarkably easy, although the manager was less than friendly. read more

The customer service in this place! I go there sometimes because it is local but no more! Most of the time there is only one cashier and when there is a cashier waiting in line is like watching water boil. Went to purchase two things. I waited in line patiently (as i usually do). I was up next in line. Then the cashier looks at me says that i had to go to another line because he was closing. At this point the long line behind me had all gone to the new line so i ended up at the end of the line (thus having to wait again!). I'm no expert, but i strongly believe that the staff should be better trained on transitioning customers to a new line. The whole thing is unfair and frustrating. So, at this point i'm standing in the back of the line watching all the other people behind me get ringed up and i realized that the cashier that "closed" his line was still ringing people up!!!! Like how do you do that to people. At this time i was just upset. I set the things i wanted to purchase down and left. Won't be returning. This Dollar Tree store is located kind of in the middle of nowhere, but it's a great place to stop and pick up a variety of things when I'm headed back home over the Grapevine and there are cheap gas stations and food places at the same exit, so it makes a great pit stop location. On this particular visit I was after two things, cleaning supplies and teacher supplies. I was headed home to Bakersfield and had a call that I was going to have houseguests. Good news, but I knew that I was going to need to do a little cleaning and straightening before they arrived and and I was going to need to some supplies (on the cheap) to do that. Dollar Tree is my budget cleaning supply headquarters. I buy floor cleaner, dish detergent, toilet cleaner, spray cleaners for my kitchen counters, glass cleaners, and sponges all for just $1 each. SCORE. I was also looking for some teaching supplies: fancy colored sentence strips and bulletin board cut out shapes for my kindergarten classroom. I found exactly what I needed here, at prices FAR lower than teacher stores back in Bakersfield would have charged ($1 instead of $6 each). Dollar Tree is my favorite place to go to buy cheap trinkets for my kindergarten classroom treasure box. I buy small bottles of bubbles in the wedding section (I love to think outside the box), balloons, plastic rings and barrettes, and a wide variety of little plastic toys. This stuff is a really big hit with the 5 and 6 year old set. Dollar Tree is also a great place to pick up party supplies including paper goods and plastic cutlery in all different colors, toys for gift bags, and even balloons filled with helium. You can also pick up wrapping paper, gift bags, ribbons, bows and cards to put the finishing touch on your party girts. There is a fairly complete section of kitchenware gadgets and you can buy plates, dishes, and cups and glasses, too. If you're a college kid looking to outfit your dorm room or moving out on your own for the first time, you can really get your entire kitchen set up here on the cheap. There is a fairly large food section, and though there are a lot of off brands on the shelves if you look carefully you can find many nationally known brand names. Especially in the candy and snack food aisles - Skittles, Lemonheads, Sugar Babies, Hot Tamales, Milky Way, Reese's, Snickers. You name it, if it's made of sugar and I'm craving it, Dollar Store probably carries it. There is a huge section of seasonal and holiday items and decorations. There is a pet aisle with food and toys and other supplies. There's a pretty good selection of toiletry items: toothpaste, mouthwash, facial cleansers, soap, bath & body products all at bargain basement prices. Dollar Store is discount heaven. They accept both credit and debit cards, but there is a small fee to get cash back. read more

Castaic doesn't have much but they do have an awesome Dollar Tree! I stopped by on break and found some awesome things each for a dollar or less. Granted somethings aren't the best in quality but you get what you pay for, right? I usually love grabbing things for my business here and tend to clear the shelves of specific items when in stock. Most employees here are wonderful and helpful, yet there is one who is constantly to busy talking and having social hour to really help anybody. When I have asked him for help its hard to come by. Stock at this store is also hard to come by although they are a smaller store. I prefer to try and shop here when I can since we are a small community and I would like to shop in my community, but when product is out a lot, wait time to check out is forever and then come to find out that the manager is actually the employee who helps the least, it makes me rethink my decision. Many of the employees here are wonderful and beyond helpful. The manager is not and prefers to talk with people and socialize rather than help ring up or look for needed items. It would be nice if the company would help stock this store more and the manager actually would provide better service. read more

I've been to this store twice and the first time I went there I loved it and the employees were very nice. However, I went by today to purchase a few things and the cashier named Sabrina was very rude to me and my daughter.
