I believe that the central problem is with the management of the location on Fern St. The staff have an attitude that you're bothering them when you ask a question or request some help. They have a disdain for their customers. This is a management and training issue. I end up asking the people sampling products in the store, they are much more helpful and friendly. Employees here just really don't seem to care about their customers. As Mister L wrote on Jan 16, people were stuck in an elevator. He was documenting this and an employee had the gall to record him. Are you kidding?! No one who works in this store smiles. That is a clear indication of how the management of this store treats their employees. People who frequent Yelp know that when there are powerfully negative reviews- not angry, just descriptive-someone from the business responds and at least says, "Sorry, we'll try to do better." The management of this store has such little regard for their customers, they don't even have the decency to pretend to care. The one area of the store that I find as a friendly oasis is the pharmacy. The people in the pharmacy even smile. Most everyone who works there is kind, polite and tries to listen and help. I receive all of my vaccinations at this location. I really appreciate Milan who administers them to me. The parking situation of this Costco is dangerously absurd. Dangerous because nearly every car that enters and exits the parking lot needs to cross the pedestrian walkway. Absurd because it is nearly impossible to believe that a licensed professional engineer would have created such a ridiculous layout for a parking lot. I cannot think of any store with a worse car/walk flow. Because cars can't drive in easily due to the pedestrian traffic, there is almost always a backup on to Fern Street. I deeply respect this company as it has the tradition of treating its employees like valuable human beings. They are paid a reasonable wage and they receive medical insurance. And so DESPITE the disregard that I experience at this location, I will continue to come here. And finally, I shop at Costco because the majority of the products are of high quality at a reasonable price.

It's impressive to see and walk around in and has almost every store and type of food you could want. I enjoyed Nordstrom, Dumplings, Ice Cream, White House Black Market, Macy's, Lululemon, etc. etc. They have all the usual chains (Victoria's Secret....) but some other boutique stores as well. Huge food court on the lowest level and a private entrance into the Ritz Carlton which is attached to the building. Super convenient if you are staying at the hotel, as I did, and I was here every day to people watch, get snacks, or just to walk the levels and get some exercise.

Discrimination, Disrespect and Insulted…read more I went into Zara to shop and make a return. I had a lot of items. It was late in the evening and the store was still packed. I brought my wagon along with me in the store due to my disability as I am unable to carry a lot of items and it helps me when I am shopping. As I got to the register, the attendant at the register (an older Asian lady with glasses) told me that she was not going to process my transaction and walked away. I asked her what was going on and she replied that she would get her manager. When the manager came, (Imani) she explained to me that they would not be processing my return. She was extremely rude. She told me that it was too late and I should have come earlier, even when I waited in line for half an hour. While in line I was grabbing other things, but my wagon was in line. She seemingly scolded me telling me that they needed to give home by 10pm and they were not going to assist me. Imani seemed extremely disturbed at my wagon (which I use due to my disability) and she proceeded to get belligerent and unprofessional. She mentioned her surprise of me bringing a wagon into the store, and stated that I had an "outrageous return". I told her I may return a lot but that is because I spend thousands of dollars for items. The exchange was extremely contentious, to the point that I had to ask her several times to refrain from speaking to me. I was on the phone with my friend who is also an attorney that can attest to this entire conversation. I was upset about them not being willing to take my return, but since I had a purchase, I had to stay in the store and get my products. I had to ask her several times if I was going to be able to purchase my items. The whole time, Imani was being rude, sarcastic and condescending because of my return size and wagon. As we finished the purchase, as I was walking out of the store, Imani started to insult me. She called me a "big back". I am a size 12/14, so when I turned around, I asked her why she was insulting me as if she had the right to. I just could not believe she was insulting me. She said, "I thought my back was big, but you're out of control". She is a MANAGER. I got off the phone with my friend and started to record her. She put her hand out to say she did not give me permission to record, and I informed her that Virginia is a one party consent state. I was shocked. She asked the security to escort me out after my shock of her attacking my physical appearance. She got loud and said I was making a scene because I asked the young lady who worked there if this is normal behavior. The young lady (a black girl with a mask and braids just shock her head). I have never experienced this. Mind you, I was talking calm to her and you can pull the cameras to confirm. She insulted me and I was not speaking to her. I was on my phone call, explaining to my friend (the attorney) what I had experienced. I have attached pictures of the manager and one of me. When I tell you I am taking this to the highest level. Believe me, I will not rest until this matter is addressed. People can get upset, but to insult a customer's person, make fun of their disability items, and to refuse service is completely unacceptable. She was bold enough to conduct herself in this way, I hope she is bold enough to own up to what she did. This was unbelievably disrespectful, disturbing and distasteful.
