Most Dollar Generals don't have a paperback rack so this was a nice discovery. The rest of the store was the expected fare. In addition to the Jiles novel I bought some pickle-flavored Dorito's that tasted like an experiment gone wrong.

Today, Sunday November 27, 2:30pm I was looking for command hooks to hang some Christmas lights. There were none on the shelf so we asked if maybe there were some in the back. The Cashier gave us a very confused explanation on how there probably was but were too hard to get and didn't apologize, moving on to the next customer. ....we asked another lady that was stocking, recieving similar answer about having them in Stock but too hard to obtain. It was pitiful. .. . We found the command hooks at Lowe's for less $ . I just wish my neighborhood DG had a more customers 1st policy.

Actually I'm like that every time now! I go weekly because they get new shipments weekly. There's always something that I buy at other stores for full price anyway, so I save so much shopping here FIRST. As an example, I recently bought an 8oz bottle of Nature's Way elderberry syrup. It was $5 or $6. I left and made a second stop at Diane's and saw the exact same syrup for around $20. Needless to say, I doubled back for a few more bottles. The store is well organized and kept clean. The owners are so sweet and friendly and have pride in their place. A lot of the shop is stocked with specialty items, many organic and high-end brands. They often have pasture-raised eggs, so be sure to look for that. I have certain sections I check every time but I'm not giving away my secrets - you'll just have to go yourself. ;) You can really score some deals. Attached is a photo of what I got today for just over $60. At any other store I would have easily spent double that. If you've driven past it a thousand times and not been in, go!

I needed his expertise in choosing the correct beef for beef stroganoff. I was so impressed by his knowledge and kindness as he even offered to cut the flank steak properly for me. I have a habit of cutting it the wrong way and basically making beef bubblegum! It was awesome to know that not only is he an excellent butcher, but he is an actual chef!!! Hats off to Publix for having the proper mindset to hire the most qualified talent to work in this venue! I only hope that all Publix markets have the same high standards. I will say the only thing I don't like about Winn-Dixie is that Although they put all their BOGOS…read more in one area, which is great, they tend to intermingle them with items that are the same, but are not part of the Bogo's, so beware when you're doing BogoS. For instance, this week, the Voortman crackers were on sale, and there were peanut butter, chocolate and vanilla all in the same huge table, but the small print said that only the peanut butter's were the ones that were Bogo. Same for the bag salads. All in the same area, but it was only one type of bag salad that was a Bogo and this was very small print. AND they don't have baggers like the supermarket get down the street with the green logo. But their prices are pretty good, and the aisles are free of impediments.
