I enjoyed a lovely Saturday morning exploring aisles of vintage items. Vendors were pleasant and…read morepersonable. The only thing I didn't appreciate was the high price for a lot of extremely used items. For example, there were items that were clearly boy gently used, but priced as if they were new!! I needed up purchasing only one shirt that I couldn't pass up. However, I enjoyed window shopping with locals.

Additionally, the building itself added nicely to the vintage mood as could be expected from the owner of Amelie's. Each vendor had a unique and distinct theme of merchandise so there was a purposeful variety, which gives two thumbs up to Amy H. for thinking ahead about customers' needs and bringing this concept to Charlotte; this type of gathering is more common in bigger cities, so it is refreshing to see it here. Items ranged from old Americana, Atomic '50s house-wares and lighting, clothing, art, to Chinoiserie furniture, and more. The event had such a huge turn-out that the ample on-site parking did not suffice, leading to some minor issues in the parking lot. Rest assured that this site does have ample parking, but this event received attendance that exceeded expectations, which is a good thing. Perhaps for future events the vendors could park in the rear, as I noticed that they had parked near the entrance. They should really have unloaded near the door, and then moved the vehicles to the very rear, as what happened was a bit inconsiderate to the patrons. But this was the only real problem with the event's organization, which is amazing for a first effort in the Queen city and very professional. I'm looking forward to more of these events. Maybe I'll camp outside overnight for the next one.

A cute red velvet top for 10$. Impulsively bought a pair of sandals 14$ (above what I would normally pay for secondhand) because I thought they were Michael Kors. They were Anne Klein. AK looked like MK haha Regrets but no returns. It's worth a look, you never know what you might find !

Nice location, very clean stores, polite staff…read more The organization has a general thrift store (kids toys area, a little bit of clothing for men and women, general items), & a furniture store around the corner. This store honestly frustrated me. I go to cause- or benevolent-type thrift stores because I want to support them- in this case, I want to support differently abled adults being trained for work. (I believe this is the org's goal?) This store made it harder for me to spend my money- & I really wanted to! Seemed kinda high end and a bit pricy for a 'thrift store' in my opinion- particularly for women's items and furniture. They had a good range of clothing sizes for women tho. I always hope for a surprise find in thrift stores but this was not going to be one of those places for me-- unless I hoped to spend a few hundred looking for a used designer purse (a la Fendi) or an unusual mini-fridge. I asked about an item in the furniture area & no offer/effort was made to work with me on the (high) ticket price. Usually folks in a cause-related store will work with you because they want to see money generated & they know you're there to support them. Not here/ Got the sense that things are priced & that's that. And when they give you a color tag to look for for a discount of the day, & you don't see any discounted items with that color tag...not fun. (Also guessing that the coveted Matthew location near the Farmers Market is part of the higher prices. But just not as much fun to thrift when a used shirt costs $20.) I did see some kids toys for a range of prices which was nice...but just not a 'thrift' store to me. Maybe I got it wrong?

I've been to RH Charlotte twice, both for my sister's birthday celebration in 2021 and now in 2023…read more RH is a furniture store but they had the right idea to add a restaurant to the rooftop. When you enter, you walk right in the showroom on the ground floor and then take the stairs or elevator to the 3rd floor. The stairwell is gorgeous and makes for a great photo op. However, they have a no flash rule and you can't sit on the furniture in the showroom. The first time we went, although we had a reservation for 7:30pm, they didn't sit us until 7:50pm because our table wasn't ready. We exercised patience throughout the ordeal and they weren't really apologetic which was off-putting. We did have a good time and I got the lobster roll but the service was sub-par. This time around, the service was phenomenal. Our waitress was patient, attentive and pretty funny. She engaged with us the whole time and didn't mess up any orders. I only got a salad, which I liked, and our whole table enjoyed their meal. Safe to say this second experience was the better of the two across the board. RH is a great time so if you haven't been, make it a point to go.

I did my research and went here thinking I was going to get a quick bite to eat at the bar but there isn't a bar. There is an area you can purchase coffee and wine at. I walked up to the hostess asking that exact question and she goes "no service there only indoors, no service outside so will you be joining us" is a very sassy remark. I gave her the benefit of the doubt but it was just downhill from there. I sat in the middle of the restaurant waiting to be introduced by a server for over 40 mins. When a server walked over he kindly stated can I help you? Lol yes, I've been sitting here for over 40 mins. I ordered breakfast and there was a hair in my food. I ordered another meal to go and somehow got a steak sandwich but I ordered steak frites. Overall, not a great experience at all especially when there really isn't anything on the menu under $20. Beautiful restaurant however subpar service and subpar food.

In fact, the selection (or lack thereof) is similar to Food Lion, as are the prices. Bloom will "do the job", but not very impressively. I've visited this Bloom store on several occasions and while the store is immaculately clean (atypical for Food Lions), the produce, deli, and bakery is lacking. They have a number of speciality breads, but overall a limited selection. The produce is decent-just don't buy the salad mixes. They normally expire a day later. One of the merits of this store is the "pick your own" six-pack of beer. They have an ample selection of domestics and imports that you can mix and match for about $8. Another is the meat selection: actually fresh, varied meats for reasonable prices. Bloom's Breeze Card works like H-T's VIC card, nothing exclusive but its saves a few $$$. The store has "maps" of different depts. at the front entrance, so it is easily navegable. If you need to pick up a few items or a cartful, Bloom is still a better option than other local grocers. (See my scathing review of the Mint Hill Bi-Lo).
