Not a mouse, a RAT with a body about 6 inches long. An employee walked out from the doors a few minutes later. I informed her. She went back to report it. She came back out, apparently they are aware of this beast! She said, " they've been trying to catch it for awhile "... Well DO IT THEN!!! And I could not post this until I "checked a star"... When you walk in you can tell they put a lot into it and that is certainly something to be proud of. The store itself is old, I don't know if it's the building or the store itself as I'm not from the area, but they've added some style and modern flair to it. They also have just about anything you could check off your shopping list plus some. Expect to find beautiful cuts of meat, fresh vegetables, cakes and desserts, lots of prepared foods along with all the essential pantry staples. They also have a deli section with Boars Head products as well as a small bistro inside though we didn't get to try it. Here you will also find some goodies you won't typically see at your chain grocers such as crawfish, pig's feet, or frog legs. They offer a variety of local seasonings, spices and condiments like jams, jellies, sauces as well as varieties of nuts and such... things you might typically find at a road side farmer's stand. The prices, I felt, leaned on the higher side but again, they are competing with conglomerates of mega corporations so some of that is to be expected, I'm sure they do the best they can in that regard. They had some pretty neat products in the store. I was fascinated with all the locally baked goods. We ended up snagging a pound cake. I'm looking forward to eating it with strawberries and whipped topping. It's a great local market. They have a great produce section. I was able to find the rare green plums here. I know I won't be able to finish them before we travel back home or I totally would have got them! They looked really good! I heard this store has been on Monroe for a while so it's neat that I got to experience a part of this city through the store.
