Do not rent from this company. Even after maintaining the quality of the vehicle, ensuring the vehicle was returned clean and full of gas, we were charged an additional fee which was not clearly explained at the time of reservation (online), point of pickup, or time of drop off. We used this rental due to the advertisement of 'unlimited mileage'. We picked up and dropped off the rental at the same location. We return the vehicle early, and the next day received a surprise bill for an additional $250. When I called to speak with the local office, I was passed to a manager, who tried claiming it was not possible to verify who I was to provide me the information I was asking for. After confirming I was on the rental agreement with her, she tried claiming because I was not on the original rental agreement she was unable to identify me. I pointed out not only did I have to provide my driver's license at the time of pickup, but I also had to sign the document. This did not matter to her. This company will charge you illegally without informing you of what the charges are, and then blame the charges on you when you call. Terrible customer service from the manager, Kelly. It is very important to notate, Kelly is the only individual who was rude. All other individuals that we interacted with were kind, though it does seem that potentially the company should provide more training as the manager seems to believe that her team should have let me know this. The manager also tried stating that the information was on the counter. Unfortunately at the time of pickup, no one from Dollar was available, so we were sent to the neighboring desk. We provided our documents, were up sold roadside assistance (which we purchased). We rented this vehicle for one specific purpose, and we're even discussing the purpose of a rental at the time of pickup. At no time where we informed this additional fee would apply. When I asked Kelly to speak with someone else, she informed me the only person higher than her is the owner of the company. Only after requesting to speak with someone else multiple times where we provided the customer service number by Kelly. She told us was absolutely nothing she could do to assist us. What a horrible experience. They only allow you 150 miles a day and they may not even tell you that. THEY CHARGED MY CREDIT CARD for $86.25 $6 of this was for tolls the other $70 was for fees!!!!!!!!! I rented a car here and returned it with zero damage and a full tank of gas. After I was charged the final agreed-upon amount and turned in car... They RANDOMLY charged my card and additional $100 about a week later with no permission and no receipt. I think they must do this too many people hoping no one follows up. BAD business practice!!! Just because you have someone's card number, does not mean you should randomly charge their card without contacting them first. These people can literally go eat a giant Bowl full of *****!! I rented a van online, my rental included unlimited miles I stated on the website to order from and the contract that was sent to my email as well as dollars website. When I arrived the very first thing lady tells me " we don't do unlimited miles" my immediate response was let her know that my reservation included unlimited miles and that I booked explicitly because of the unlimited miles. She explains to me that's because they use a third-party website and not their website. So I pulled the dollar website on my phone and show it on the corporate website to the lady at the front desk. She sighs really loudly and then Huffs and puffs as if she's trying to blow my day down. She didn't raise her voice and lets me know " we are the only franchise that does not do unlimited miles" She then picks up her book and started reading it. I was slighty taking back and asked if I could speak to a manager. The lady continue to read her book are ignored me completely. I asked again is there a supervisor here that I can speak with about this. She continue to ignore me not even acknowledging that I'm talking. I asked her if I can have my driver's license and credit card back. Not saying a word she throws them on the counter at me. At this point I asked her for the supervisors name and her name so that I can email corporate about this. She all the sudden gets very loud and rude. She tells me "sir I'm not giving you anything not my name not my manager's name and not even the name of this branch. Call corporate if you want I don't care!" I'm a little taken back at this point so I tell her ma'am this is really poor customer service I've been in customer service for many years I would never treat somebody like this as it would be my job. She continued to our ignore me and read her book. I take my information and go and talk to a different rental counter in the airport. However, at this time all the minivans have now been rented out. I'm unable to get the vehicle I require because this company cheated me. They lied online and then lied about what the website has to say. At the time I could have booked with Avis, Hertz and Enterprise they all had a minivan as available at the time I booked. It turns out this rude lady at the counter called the police on me and said I was creating a disturbance in the airport. I don't know if she was embarrassed by her behavior and felt that she should kick me out to avoid me from getting the vehicle I need. I'm really completely baffled as to why she would have called the police. The only rude person in this situation was the lady behind the counter. I lost the vehicle I required because of his company. They are knowingly post an fake information on booking websites. Employees who are extremely rude and don't care. Really poor service really poor. Many rules at this location (they said they are not a corporate location) that are not listed when you rent online. This includes: - no free spouse driver (charge of $12.99 per day) when you a a part of the loyalty program which is advertised when you make the reservation. - no unlimited mileage unless you are an airline customer - no travel outside of Florida All three of these things were an issue for us because we rented a car to take on a road trip. If i could write a review with no stars this would be the case. First car smelled of smoke, had metal on metal grinding breaks, warning indicator lights came on. It took me 2 days to get the rental place to replace the vehicle. Car rental agent was incredibly rude, actually told me he was doing me a favor giving me a different car. No apologies, nothing compensated, nothing for the inconvenience of a bad car, having to exchange it. Difficulty exchanging it. Lost days of our trip. If I could give negative stars I would give the Dollar Rental @ the Melbourne Regional Airport I would give them negative five stars. We had a reservation thru Hotwire for 8am. We were there at 740am & the Dollar employee didn't arrive at the desk until 815 with an attitude to boot. Then he told us we could not take the car out of FL, WTF? Nothing was said about this when we booked! No pop up warning stating this sites cars could not be used interstate & we were headed to GA! I was close to popping this guy in the mouth he had such a non-caring attitude, what ever happened to customer service? BE WARNED this Dollar location is a total rip off we ended up booking thru Hertz! Dollar should be ashamed that it allows this place to use their name & then as they screw over customers they use the excuse of "Our location is not corporate owned" this also was not stated on Hotwire either! read more

Worst car rental experience. PLEASE DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY. They do not answer the phone. They try to use your credit card fraudulently to double charge you for the car rental. They do not answer the phone, did I say that? They falsely advertise unlimited mileage. You CAN NOT take the car out of state. If you are not traveling at the airport, you are limited to 150 miles per day. Do yourself a favor, book at enterprise. Pay their fee. Don't make this mistake. All their cars are damaged. The vehicle I rented was dirty, uncleaned had been smoked in, the air conditioner occasionally stopped working for a few minutes at a time multiple times as well. Also when I signed the paperwork they tried to trick me into signing the $10 a gallon prepaid gas option which I thought was less than professional. I will not rent from here again. read more

My experience at the Melbourne Airport Dollar Rental was a very good one. When I picked up car on Easter Sunday morning, it only took about 5-7 min to sign and receive keys. Car was clean with a full tank. When I turned it in the following Saturday, I left my Sunpass inside vehicle. No issues retrieving it! She helped me 8n so many ways. Even when I clearly made a mistake in my reservations, she gladly accommodated making corrections. Thank you for all of your help! read more

Their policies are not customer friendly. The counter agents were very polite but they're not very helpful when you need something corrected on your bill. I was charged for a full tank of gas when I didn't receive the tank 100% full ($36). I was told I brought it back 7/8 full( amount used from the gas station to the drop off). Use all the gas in the tank and return it empty because you will be charged for it anyway. read more

If I could give them no stars I would have, a gentleman by the name of Saad Claims to be the manager, treated us very poorly and was extremely unreasonable, charged me an extra $250 for cleaning the car claiming that there was dog hair in the car, in addition, the car smelled like smoke when we got it,. We complained about the condition of the car and they told us they had no other cars available..Saad treated us with self righteousness and would not reverse the $250 charge. We rented the car to attend a funeral and we did not have animals in the car. Saad would not give us his supervisors name nor would he confirmed the contact number for the franchisee. We called the 1800 number and they were unable to help us because of the franchisee situation. I don't even want to give the place they call a car rental a star, It is the most dishonest business I have ever seen. I returned the car to a small 7 terminal airport and there is no one to check in the cars like every other airport, I filled the gas before I returned it right down the street from the airport, then ran in to give the keys they don't give you a bill right there .. they email it to you .. scam 1 ... wait for the bill take a picture of the tank and car before you return it !!! they said I didn't return it full so they charged me almost 50$ to fill it . I started to call them since I receive the bill later that day and NO ONE ANSWERS THE PHONE .. well I finally called corporate and they cant do anything seeing its a private company from the others ... so they return 34$ .. saying I left it 1/4 empty .. um no I didn't so I speak to the manager who just called me Saad. he said there is nothing I can do about it .. write the company and see what they day , not that they may have made any error or just try to please someone .. just imagine how many people they do this too that don't even look ..that means they are STEALING FROM YOU AND ME $$$$$$$$$. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!!!! LIARS AND THIEVES! First off, I reserved a car for my dad via Hotwire website, a site I've used many times before. No issues until my dad went to pick up car.... at that time they advised my dad " you can't take car out of state".....ummm, what???? He was coming to NC to see my family so yes he was planning on leaving the state of Florida. He advised them to forget it because they wanted to charge him $250 out of state fee, mind you the actual weekly rental was just over $200, so why would he pay an additional $250???? When he said he'd forgo the car because of this, he was advised that they would contact manager to see if they could get the fee waived. So the employee makes a call and once completed advise my dad that the fee of $250 could now be waived per their "manager" So he returns the car as scheduled, nothing was said. He reviews his CC statement only to find two charges, one from Hotwire, one from Dollar Rental. He calls the local Dollar Rental office to see what these charges are for. They then advised that "you took the car out of state so we charged you our out of state fee $250" WHAT?!@?@ He then advised what happened at pickup and of course no manager was available when he originally called. Well since then it's been at least 2 weeks, he calls almost daily... still no manager has spoken to him. We called the corporate offices today, only to be told the Melbourne office is "independently owned" so the corporate office "could not help us" but we could totally call the local office......wth! He's been doing that ALMOST DAILY FOR AT LEAST 2 WEEKS AND NOTHING!!!! What a total stupid JOKE! THEY ARE HORRIBLE.... Stealing money from unsuspecting older people!!!! SCAM ALERT - WORST CAR RENTAL EXPERIENCE - DO NOT RENT FROM THEM There's not enough negative stars that I could give this "company." First of all beware that this "Dollar Car Rental" has nothing to do with the actual Dollar rental company as it is privately owned - and they use this excuse with EVERYTHING. I reserved my car through Hotwire and when I arrived at the counter I added car insurance which added another $259 to what I had already paid. They also added a $200 deposit on my debit card that was supposed to be returned once the car was brought back. The first car they gave me was dirty and disgusting and I received a much better car after bringing it to their attention. I was informed that I couldn't leave the state of FL and if I went through any tolls I would automatically be charged $50 per toll. I was also told if I returned the car EARLY you get charged as well as returning it late you get charged. Who gets charged for returning a car early?! I ended up keeping the car an extra day which they told me would be an extra $65. Fast forward to dropping the car off, they told me I'd receive a receipt in 24-48 hours - it's been 30 days and I have YET to receive a receipt. I never received my deposit back and I can't even dispute my charges with my debit card because they want the receipt. I've tried multiple times going through Dollar Corporate but there's nothing they can do since they're not associated with them. I'm essentially being charged $700 on a car rental for a week!!! INSANE! I have yet to get anyone on the phone, hotwire tried to call them and they couldn't get them on the phone and Dollar corporate tried to email them regarding the receipt and they have yet to answer them. THEY ARE A TOTAL SCAM. I don't understand why Dollar allows this fraudulent company to use their name. It's been 30 days and I have yet to get anyone on the phone or get any of my money back. read more

I rented a car from these folks 2 and a half weeks ago. The car itself was great and a great deal. The problem is I used a debit card to reserve my rental and they charged me a $200 deposit that would be refunded to me 7 to 10 days. On the 11th day I called them and they told me it was no longer in their account and to call my bank. They swore to me up and down they did not have my money, now that being said I got a call later on that night from one of the employees there telling me there was a glitch in their Id batch and my money will be there by Monday. I rented through hot wire and bought the third party insurance, which I have done for years and never had a problem. When I went to pick up my rental last night, the lady at the counter named Sonya told me that I could not use the third party insurance. She proceeded to argue with me and told me that I had to buy their insurance, and when I refused, finally told me there was something wrong with my license and that I couldn't rent the car. I have never had problems with my license before. When I first arrived, an African American lady was complaining because Sonya would not honor her discount and she couldn't get the car. I find that ironic that she turned me away too. Yet she rented to the white male in front of me and the white male that came behind me. I then went to the other counters and they were sold out. While I was speaking with the Hertz guy, a police came up to counter and looked directly at me. I was gone from her counter, but obviously she thought that because I was in the building that I was a threat. I will not rent from this place again! Sonya is very rude and racist! The car had over 60,000 miles on and shook when I drove it on the interstate. It felt like it was going to fall apart at any minute. they suck. i got my ticket thru hotwire, 61 dollars for 4 days yeah, a hurricane was coming so the melbourne airport was closed. i asked woman working there how much that would cost me. she said 30 dollars. i get charged $57 because they weren't open the day i have to have it back. i called corporate. like someone else sad why would they like them at the melbourne fl. airport to use their name when they lie to your face, all your $250 deposit all you have to do is return the car and get your refund. still no refund and its last day of september 2019 and i got my reservation a month ago. good deal, wrong, cost me 61 + 57 + 250 = $368 for 4 days. no deal, and the first car i got was breaking down before i left town so i returned it for another one. she is rude, did you fill it up she says. the car is breaking down, i took the crap car and didn't take a gallon. i will never rent from dollar general again. rip off liars read more
