I really didn't want to come and leave this review but the quality of work I received and the price I paid, don't match up. To start, the ladies were really friendly which I loved. BUT, My nails came out VERY sloppy. the lady who did my toes left them filed uneven. Same with my nails as well. I noticed that the Polish was streaky, opaque and was left on my skin. The pedicure itself was subpar. Massage was good. My nails were damaged due to nails I had previously and I made them aware of that but she reassured me that she would be able to make my nails look smooth again.... Which she didn't do. My bell is chipping off after a few days. Also, the way she nipped my cuticles literally made them start peeling like CRAZY!! I just feel like if you know you can't do a particular service the right way then DONT DO IT. When you accept money knowing it will not come out right you really compromise the integrity of your business. All and all I will not be coming back here. Even though they were nice. read more

Love love this place! I had gel removal and new gel color on natural nails. Usually, the gel removal leaves my nail beds sensitive and tender. Not to mention, the tools used to remove the gel sometimes cuts my skin. Not at this salon though , the man who did my nails was so gentle, not a single cut and my nail beds didn't hurt. Also, he was so nice when I requested to have two different gel colors applied to achieve a pale pink. He checked with me if I liked the color on one finger before proceeding. The cherry on top was his attention to detail, he inspected each nail thoroughly to make sure there were no blemishes or no clothes fibers stuck on my nails between each gel application. I went to Dolci yesterday to get my nails done. My nails had been really damaged from long-term acrylic nail wear. I had heard that gel extensions could give the same affect but with much less damage to your nail & nail bed. It seem that not many nail salons in SF do gel extensions, but Dolci is one of them (obviously). I'm kicking myself for misplacing the card of the technician who did my nails, but he's a tall, young, slender Asian man with short hair, and he's AMAZING. I decided to do a medium-length almond-shaped gel extension with cats-eye gel polish (they have the cat's eye polish in many colors, and the effect is achieved with magnets!!). The salon is large and airy and a lot more attractive inside than most cramped little nail salons. I had my little dog with me, and they were super accommodating of him, they even gave him his own little chair (can't believe i forgot to take a pic!) right next to mine. They offered me a beverage and got to work on my nails. My tech spent a lot of time cleaning up my cuticles, which were RAGGED. After he finished my cuticles, he moved me to a big, comfy massage chair (it was a REALLY good massage chair! It massaged my back as well as a person. And I've been in massage chairs that SUCKED. This one was great, though! When he put me in the massage chair, he moved my dog's little chair next to me, too. He definitely took his time w/my nails, even though I was certainly his last appt of the day (my appt started at 6pm). He did a FANTASTIC job! The color and nail style options are fantastic. Today, I had a specific design in mind, so I called and booked a same-day appointment. I sent them the inspiration picture, and when I arrived, everything was ready. The colors I wanted were laid out, with consideration for any changes I might want. Billy executed the designed beautifully, with Kim cheering me on throughout. I loved the result--matte snowflakes with a hint of sparkle on the gems. Came in to get a gel manicure with some flowers, the mail tech was super nice and was very clearly invested in how to make the design super nice, which I appreciated as I like to let the tech have some artistic control. I got them a week ago and they've held up really well with minimal to none chipping. Some places I go, the polish starts to pee within a week, but defs not here! Very great, clean, and welcoming. It's in a nice neighborhood, and I always come here for waxing with Kim. She is a great person, she is amazing at doing waxing. Her waxing comes out smooth, I've always done full leg, underarms & brazillian. I've known her for 5+ years and I will only go to her for my waxing. She makes me feel comfortable. I highly recommend coming here if you want a mani/pedi, haircut or even waxing. I love the service here. It's best to call for an appointment, but walk-ins are okay. There is also parking nearby as well if driving. If taking a bus, the 55 passes through here. Easy to get to! read more

Unfortunately, I won't be returning as the experience didn't feel worth the time or money, especially after tipping well and expecting good quality. Loan and Kim were amazing! My wife took me here to get a pedicure and it was extremely relaxing. I work on my feet all day in work boots. They were able to get all of the clauses off and gave a great massage. I got my first manicure. Every time we are in town this is our new spot. I only wish Yelp had more than a five star ranking system, as my stylist Buck Schmitz deserves triple that! I have been a client of Buck's for at least 10 years and have referred numerous friends to him as well. He has transformed my hair from the mess it was when I first stepped foot into his shop. I pretty much let him get creative and over the years my style and color keeps evolving. Just recently I decided I wanted extensions. Buck took the time to meet me off site at the store to pick out the right hair then spent hours making sure the colors matched my own hair. He painstakingly spent six hours applying my new hair and it's amazing! Buck is not only talented and creative and keeps updated with the newest trends and products, he is personable, funny, and someone I am glad to call my friend! I love my spontaneous roommate! We've been wanting to get our nails done for awhile, so she decided one morning that we were going. We called ahead to make sure it wasn't busy at Dolci, then hopped into a Lyft and headed there. Fortunately there were only people getting their hair done in the other half of the shop, so we were seen right away. We selected our desired nail polish off the shelf. Standard selection. I'm ecstatic that I found my favorite nail polish shade, "My Dogsled is a Hybrid." The ladies were cordial and didn't speak much English, but worked their magic quickly. The whole appointment took about 45 minutes, and the manicure was $15. That's amazing! I would have loved a pedicure but had to get back home to start my work shift. Oh well. We'll be coming back regularly (every few months?) to get our nails done. Maybe it's just me, but I feel so powerful when I have nail polish... Insert evil laughter here. read more

Updating my review to share this awesome story: I lost my wallet a few weeks ago :( My wallet contained everything from cash to my precious Dolci rewards card (they don't have one anymore). I had just gotten my last stamp and was to receive a free pedicure. I think that I was more upset about the card than the loss of cash ($100+...ironic, I know). I made an appointment on Saturday and showed up 45 min before they closed. I got a regular manicure . The lady who worked on me was in a rush and did not do a great job. I told her to put 14 $ on my card then she asked " how about tip!??" Well you don't ask for tip lady. Clients can tip you if they want to. So I said add $2. She said " $2???" In a questionable tone . Yes $2. Your manicure was not outstanding . Plus I always pay $10-12 . Your prices are high. Plus look at the images , this is day 3 and my nails are half way chipped . I am not happy . Overall, good mani-pedi for the price ($35). I have nothing negative to report, but some of the extras that I am accustomed to from other salons were missing. For example, no one helped me put my shoes on after my pedicure so I did not ruin the paint job. It was just myself and the manicurist, and there was no music playing, no sound at all. My last "issue" which I have a hard time saying as it was all around pleasant, is that they bring a water bath for the pedicure and the water was luke warm. Overall, good value. I had a haircut disaster a few weeks ago and desperately messaged this salon via Yelp to see if they could fit me in. Buck replied promptly and was able to give me a weekend appointment slot that worked perfectly for me. The salon is small but cozy. Before moving to San Francisco, I used to go to the bigger Aveda/Oribe salons in South Bay and so I was a bit nervous about trying somewhere local. But Buck gave me exactly the cut I wanted and even gave me a discount, which was really kind. It's a friendly atmosphere and I think their prices for women's haircuts ($70) are quite normal. I was hoping I'd get my fiance to get his haircut here too but when I asked about the price for a men's cut ($60) I realized it's way higher than average - so I don't know if he'd be willing to pay that much. I'm impressed with this place. Their pedicures are only $20, but the caliber of service is definitely in the $25+ range! They have a great selection of OPI and Essie polishes, and it's such a spacious place! The massage chairs were comfortable as well, and the pedicure was VERY thorough! The lady I had really took the time to make sure my feet looked perfect before I walked out. It's a mellow vibe, and they played Gypsy Kings the whole time we were there (yeah!) Not a lot of chit-chatting, neither between me and the technicians, nor between the technicians themselves, but that just further contributes to the relaxing vibe. Nobody was super over-the-top friendly, either, but they certainly weren't cold or rude...again, I would attribute this more to their level of professionalism that anything else...sometimes I feel obligated to carry on conversations with people who are performing a service for me, and it can get sort of tiring, so it was actually kind of nice to be left alone for once with no pressure to talk! Ok. WTF? I used to come here all the time to get a regular mani/pedi. I figured they did a decent job so I called them up for a gel mani when Four Seasons in Millbrae was busy on a Saturday afternoon. Dolci is on my way home and $27 for a gel mani sounded ok. 1. Leaving acetone on for barely two minutes before you start FILING my nail bed down to remove gel polish? 2. Filing my nails unevenly? 3. Nail polish out of bottle doesn't look like polish on samples... You don't hesitate... Just keep going. 4. You paint nails in such a sloppy manner that you get polish/base/top coat on 8/10 fingers. 5. You then actually refuse to clean that up. I have to take a file and remove that myself. WTF? 6. I'm left looking at strange lavender color that doesn't even match the sample light grey. No. I did not leave a tip. I'm sad that it sucked so badly. 1 star for past experiences and another for being clean. I'm looking at my thumb as I Swype, ugh...I hate this color and the ugly specks of polish left on my fingertips just make me more mad. read more

I live on the other side of town and can easily go to one if the cheap rush you in and out salons in the Marina for a manicure that doesn't last more than 2 days! One of the best manicure places in the City. I love Dolci and have for years. The only part I don't like is the staff turnaround. I feel like once I get friendly with someone there, they are gone. Great choices in polish and different pedicure varieties are great. With the orange pedicure you even get a glass of wine. And the shellac choices are amazing. I love all the colors. And the massage on your calves feels so good that even my husband can't resist the pedicure. I also used to get bikini waxes there, but was not too pleased with the last one (again, new person), although it was faster, I feel like the wax did not have lasting results. read more

I'm not picky about pedicures because I get them so infrequently but, after 2 "meh" and 2 disappointing experience, I've switched to another salon. Their practices are clean and their space is beautiful. La vite e dolci! FInally - a reasonably priced alternative to mani/pedi! So what if it is a little farther away from my place - it is well worth it to avoid the attitude, bedlam, and worst of all overpriced shoddy manicures! It is spacious, modern, clean, open & airy and simply a nicer atmosphere. Just walking in is an aromatherapy. The estheticians were efficient and thorough. Other than the soothing deluxe arm & leg massage ($10/10 min each) they wasted no time which I really appreciate, but it wasn't a rush job or anything. Getting a manicure or pedicure is often one of many activities I'm trying to cram in a given day and these ladies were very respectful of time, even though I was the only person in the place most of the time I was there. The staff are courteous and kind (even if I couldn't sweet talk em into letting me bring the hound in with me - no worries as they have a tiny little patio out front for the pooch to snooze while she waits.) Following on to the previous reviews: --I second that emotion re the massage chairs - be sure to use the "airbag" button --they now take credit cards with ease --and, like Cindy J., my handsoak was also in cold water so I think they must do it on purpose (I have frequented a few other salons that follow the same practice). I just came back from the salon and wanted to Yelp it before I forgot. I had a great experience here! The salon is very spacious and very clean. It looked like they only have the spa chairs there, which was fine with me. I grabbed a bridal magazine and jumped in the chair. The nail techs turned on my back massager and gave me a pillow for my lap to rest the magazine on. I was offered water or tea, so I chose water. The techs were very accommodating and didn't chit chat amongst each other in Vietnamese, which was a nice change. They remembered to ask me if the french tips were to my liking and took their time to make sure they were all uniform. I was done in less than an hour and hung out to let it dry. I saw one one of the techs cleaning the basin that I used, so they really do upkeep the place to make it germ free. The total was $37 for French mani/pedi, a good deal in my opinion! I checked out a nearby place and they charged $37 w/o french tips. They helped me with going in and out of my purse so my nails won't get messed up. Too bad I don't get my nails done regularly. Facial, facial, facial! Yes, I just experienced the most awesome facial. All the sensual smells of lavendar and orange and other stimulating scents. Face massage, neck and shoulder massage, hand and arm massage. I just melted into the table. Again, they are still not ready to accept credit cards but they took my personal check. VAN was awesome. I was here for a "bridal session." 7 girls, about 4 technicians. We were offered liquor, no idea what it was lol. I don't drink, it may of been champagne. The space was nice, and didn't smell like the fumes of other nail shops. My mani/pedi came out very nice. I am TOTALLY picky about who does my nails since my Mom has been doing nails for 25+ years. Although the same night I noticed one of my nails did chip.. but I was soaking in the hot tub.. so no minus star :p I would come back if I lived in the 'hood. I don't so I prob won't.
