Way too expensive for what you get and gets a major hit in terms of stars. First, this place is usually packed. The big reason is the single file line and their ice cream is actually really good. What isn't good is the portion sizes. I know we trying to be healthy as a society, but you get a cup the size of an espresso cup and just way too small for what you pay. This store is accessible from the 1st floor of Target. They have some very unique flavors of gelato and sorbetto (see pics). They also serve different types of coffee. I got their small size - which you can select up to two flavors. I chose hazelnut and dark chocolate. Both are super rich and creamy. The nut flavors like hazelnut and pistachio actually have pieces of the nut in them. Because of how dense gelato is the small size is actually a good portion size. I just wished that they did a better job of scooping them. See pic of how some of it got the side. It would have just taken a sec to check if there was excess slathered on the side of the cup. It is on the pricey side. The small gelato is a little of $6. Who isn't going to scream for ice cream? Except this isn't ice cream, it's gelato...which is Italian for ice cream except more milk than cream and other technicalities, but let's skip the boring part. This place was on my list and being that there are no DOLCEZZA shops in NYC , I happened to come across this place during my short visit to VA. First off, the Mosaic mall is a pretty cool spot , great for families , couples, date spot, or solo venturing. I was going solo that day and ice cream was mandatory. The place looks nice from the interior design, it looks neat and clean, the gelato is hidden in these small metal canisters telling me that they are the real deal ( authentically handmade in small batches in-house ?). The staff was super friendly, and helpful being that this was my first time. I got the opportunity to sample and I was looking to pair a tangy with a sweet and savory but it the roasted strawberry didn't quite pair well with the black and white cookie flavor, but tasted amazing nonetheless. They have a nice aesthetic to the place, and I chilled out eating on the bench facing outside , people watching. I felt I was advertising their gelato because the people walking by were looking at what I was eating (or was it my self indulging facial expressions?) . My friends and I wanted to check out the Mosaic district. I love this space and how much parking and greenspace there is! We met up at Dolcezza for some ice cream. It's tiny, so it's definitely a grab and go place, but there's plenty of seating around Mosaic. There's so many interesting flavors to try, like pistachio siciliano, gianduja (which tasted like hazelnut), and marscarpone and berries! The staff was super nice, letting us sample a couple flavors. I ended up going with the dulce de leche and cookies and bananas foster flavors in a cup! The ice cream was so creamy and rich and we all loved our treats! I always cave to the buttery or caramel flavours, but the fruity flavours like the blueberry or blackberry are very refreshing. The gelato can be a little more on the sweeter side at times. I stopped in here after my black Friday shopping and dinner at Ted's. From the outside it appeared that they were extremely busy, but upon entry i realized it's just a small establishment and everyone was "dining in" and eating all of their Gelato inside! The lady at the counter asked if i wanted to smoke any of the flavors, and i did-- i tried the mascarpone& Fig, and the Sweet potato pecan praline. They were both outstanding in flavor and texture! Before i could order my small Gelato, the young lady told me that there was a current special, where i could get pre packed pints at BOGO 50% off! I ordered the two flavors in pints and they made it the hour and a half drive back home in near perfect conditions. The Gelato is not too sweet, they're just sweet enough. The flavor combinations are perfectly balanced and i could eat this every day! After having some ramen at a nearby restaurant, my husband and I headed to Dolcezza for some gelato. The place was very nice, definitely a good place to sit, chit chat and have some great gelato. The gelato was creamy and packed with flavor! My husband had the berries and cream flavor and I had the banana flavor. The service was great! An employee working there when we went allowed us to sample some of the flavors since it was our first time there. After grabbing our gelato we then went into the Target to shop around. I think I have had ice cream from Dolcezza before (can't remember), but I had never been in one of their stores until recently. Happened upon this one and even though the weather was a bit chilly, I had to stop by (my friend and I). I got to taste several of what they had to offer (tastings help a lot don't they) - I can't remember all that I tried, but I do remember what I got - Marscapone & Fig and also Coconut with Dulce De Leche. Dolcezza, when you first opened you were amazing. Sadly no more. Got a small chocolate chip and dolce chip tonight. It was actually meh. I don't know how that can happen. And the portions! Goodness it didn't even reach the cup. And the way it was placed in the cup not at all attractive. But the taste was not what it used to be anyway. I've visited a few gelatos and ice cream spots in NYC and VA, and they offer more in taste, service, portion. It is sad that this Dolceeza is slipping away. The location makes it work but next time I'm getting a pint in the supermarket. I don't enjoy the service or experience anymore here and I used to be a big fan. Hope there can be another try to refresh the experience and service. Highly highly recommend. Have been here a few times and love their gelato. It's $6 for a small (you can choose up to two flavors), it's very rich in flavor so a small is always enough for me. I also have purchased a pint before to take home. The mascarpone and berries is my absolute favorite, not too sweet. The dark chocolate is also really good, but it is definitely for the dark chocolate lovers as it is slightly on the bitter side. I usually love the ice cream here, but it really wasn't great this past time. I got the mascarpone and berries ice cream, and it didn't really taste like much, and the texture was weirdly grainy. I was surprised because this is usually my go-to flavor, and it typically tastes so much better. The texture is usually super smooth, and I feel like there is more berry flavor. I had sampled a different flavor (roasted strawberry) and it tasted much better than the mascarpone and berries and had a normal texture, so I kind of wished I opted to get that one, but I didn't know the mascarpone and berries would be bad this time around. Visited Mosaic with my cousins and we stopped by this delicious gelato shop called Dolcezza. This was the best gelato I think I've ever had. I really liked the selections of unique and classic flavors to choose from and wished I could have sampled all but there was a long line behind us. I got the mascarpone and berries flavor as well as the black and white cookie batter. I devoured it so fast despite the fact it was cold outside. I thought both flavors were so rich and decadent. This place obviously isn't your typical ice cream place. Probably because it's gelato but if you love trying new flavors it should definitely be in the rotation. I don't remember how many times I've been here but it's never missed. The servings are small of course but it makes up for in flavor. The most recent visit I got a small banana split/coffee and cookies and my girlfriend got coconut dulce de leche/dark chocolate (my usual go to). The coffee flavor was super prominent and had a lot of Oreo type cookie chunks in it, which usual make the best ice creams (or gelatos). The banana split flavor wasn't bad, lots of banana flavor but not many chunks in it. The dark chocolate is definitely a favorite since the flavor is so strong compared to the rest. Definitely looking forward to summer when it'll be a great way to cool off but the lines won't make it easy. read more

Growing up, my Mom got milkshakes (or frappes, as we referred to them) all the time, and said she "needed" them for the calcium! So, when my doctor told me this past week that I needed to increase my calcium intake, I got some supplements from Target and then went downstairs and came here for the family cure to low-calcium! While I didn't get a milkshake, I did get 2 scoops of Gelato, and they were absolutely amazing!!! I got the rainbow cake (which has pieces of cake in it), and the coconut dulce de leche. They were both so incredibly good! Sweet, rich, absolutely delicious! They far exceeded my expectations - and I instantly regretted that I hadn't tried out this place sooner! I now understand why this place is always so packed with customers! That being said, despite the crowd when I was there, the line moved very fast, and the young women who worked there were extremely sweet and helpful! I wanted mine to go, so the woman helping me put my cup in a large plastic drink cup with a cover! It made carrying and eating it much easier, since I didn't have to worry about any gelato dripping or falling off the edges! The scoops were generously sized! Most of the people in front of me asked for samples of different flavors, and the staff were more than happy to provide them! I can't think of a better place to go to work on increasing my calcium intake! And FYI, according to my Internet research, Gelato actually has more calcium in it than regular ice cream: the average serving provides 13-15% of one's daily calcium needs! read more

Love coming here for dessert when I'm at the Mosaic. My go-to is the affogato. An affogato is just a scoop of gelato (of your choice) and a shot of espresso on top. If you don't know what gelato is, it's basically Italy's version of ice cream. Except, gelato has half the fat and half the calories than ice cream. It's Creamy. And Good. Today I wanted a cone, you can get up to 2 scoops. The flavors of gelato I chose were: cookies & coffee and salted caramel. Cone is pretty small but it's just one size for all. If you have not visited this location or other Dolcezza locations in person, be careful ordering online. Dolcezza has their own online ordering website where you can place orders for in store pickup or delivery. I believe it's run by toasttab. They also work with uber eats and probably other food delivery services. This is not acceptable behavior for a company of this caliber who has been running a website for many years. On the dolcezza website, as well as uber eats etc, they list ALL the flavors as gelato. They do not differentiate between sorbet, sherbet, gelato or ice cream. Every flavor is listed as gelato so it is very easy to order an interesting flavor thinking it's gelato when it is actually sorbet or something else. Their sorbet uses ingredients like Gum Acacia, also known as Acacia gum which is highly allergenic and inflammatory and toxic. Their gelato tastes pretty good, especially flavors like the paint bucket pint, or the mascarpone and berries. There are usually long lines at this location. I just think it's unacceptable to not clarify whether what you're ordering online is sorbet or gelato. Also their ingredients are standard ice cream ingredients- usually lots of filler ingredients like gums, citric acid and more. At $7 a pint, if you are looking for high quality ice cream with minimal filler ingredients we have wegmans organic premium pints, haagen dazs and Mcconnells brand. These tend to use minimal fillers. For gelato, there is also talenti, but they don't have the unique flavors like dolcezza. read more
