I stumble across their booth yesterday at Surf City Night, huntington beach and w/ out any expectation, it really blow me away! They sell mini bundt cake with many different flavors, from original like red velvet, lemon cake, chocolate etc. to their own unique flavor like butter rum(?) and others that i cant even remember First off, the cakes, it is the moitest cake that I've ever eaten in my whole damn life!!! It melts in your mouth right when your tongue touch that sample piece. Super flavorful, not too sweet which I love, and keep you wanting for more after each bite. They sell the small bundt 1 for $3.50 or 3 for $10 which is very inexpensive imo. The man sells me the cakes (sorry nice guy, i didnt get your name!) he's super AWESOME. My cousin, one of our friend and I look around and decide to get 2 cakes. After he takes $7, he looks down and writes something on his notebook (i have no idea what it is) then hand us our cake PLUS one extra, yes, he gives us one FOR FREE... omg how awesome is that? and we're not even his regular customer! Disclaimer: I am slightly biased in this review: Dolce Monachelli was a large part of my childhood growing up. Their actual bakery was far from me, but they would come do farmer's market right across from my high school. Every Saturday since Elementary through high school I would bug my parents to take me there so I could have one of their Italian butter rum cake which is one of the most mouth watering, melt-in-your-mouth cake that you have ever had in your life. My 2nd favorite is there chocolate cake. The owner is the nicest person you will ever meet. Always greeted me with a smile. He was a big patron of the arts in my high school and would always send one or two large cakes to cast party for Peninsula High School plays. I ran into this booth at the SOCO farmer's market on hyland ave in Costa Mesa every Saturdays 10-2pm. They had a special offer: 4 bunt cakes for $10. After a free sample, I was hooked! They aren't lying, these cakes are truly the softest, moist, delicious cakes ever! I got the Italian Rum, Carrot Cake, Gluten-free Chocolate, and Lemon Coconut. They are pretty heavy cakes for tasting so light! I assume they must be full-fat butter and cream? Warning: Not for the health conscious! I felt quite guilty after scarfing down 1 cake so I gave away the other 3 to my friends! I also recommend bringing to a party to share with friends as one piece is all you need. This is by far my newest favorite place to get cakes and I have only tried one...and it just took that one to change my preference to Dolce Monachelli's Italian Butter Rum cake!!! It's so moist, fluffy, buttery...so ****ing delicious cake. And very reasonably priced! For comparison, my favorite cake used to be the Hawaiian Paradise (Three layers - guava, passion, lime - chiffon cake with whipped cream filling and the three fruit nectar glaze on top) cake from King's Hawaiian Bakery in Torrance, CA. But after having the Italian Butter Rum cake...it blows most other cakes that I've had out of the water. OH...EM...GOODNESS. SO...FREAKIN...GOOD. I stopped by the farmers market on Friday and took a bite of a heavenly piece of rum cake. OMGOODNESS. It melted in my mouth. The minute the piece of bread touched base with my tongue, it fell apart and IT...WAS...GLORIOUS. My mouth is salivating now as we speak. The bundt cakes are a bit on the small side, but they're worth it! You can get it cheaper at farmers markets than if you were to order them online. They're filled with butter and flavor, so if you're on a diet, this cake is not for you. Which is a pity. Because you would be missing out on pure awesomeness. I tried the rum cake one and the blueberry one. The blueberry one was okay, but the Italian Butter Rum cake was my absolute FAVORITE. A MUST try and a great gift for the holidays! I go to the torrance farmer's market maybe twice a month on Tuesdays. From the very first time I tried the butter rum cake I was hooked! I've even bought the large one for thanksgiving and Christmas last year. I've tried a few others...whiskey chocolate is pretty good, but I think it's only available during the holidays. The lemon was okay, there's a better lemon bundt cake at Albertsons, honestly. The chocolate cappuccino was okay, but the bottom line is, the butter rum is HANDS DOWN the best flavor they offer. It's moist n delicious. If you're not allergic to nuts don't get it without. For some reason when u warm it up is a little drier than the one with the pecans. Overall, I highly recommend their butter rum cake and from there you should try a few of their other options. read more

Without a doubt THE BEST BUNDT CAKE EVER! I discovered Dolce Monachelli's 6 or so years ago. The ultimate flavor you gotta try is the ITALIAN BUTTER RUM. It's moist, flavorful, soft, just PERFECTION! For a few years, I totally forgot about them which is totally a good thing for my diet but I was at the HB farmers market this past Tues and saw the cakes and was so excited I bought a large size and had my gf's buying them up too. My household devoured the cake that very night... I should've bought 2 large ones... I work in San Pedro... Every Friday there is a farmer's market on 6th street & Pacific Ave. Whenever I can I have lunch whether it be BBQ, Honduran, Salvadorean or Crepes but I never get anything else however today I stopped and the man at the Dolce Monachelli's stand gave me a sample of Italian Butter Rum cake. I loved it!! my co-worker said it had a strong rum flavor but I disagreed it was the best cake I had ever had and I'm not a rum cake fan in fact the only rum I ever tried before was with coke cola & ice :-) but yeah most delicious cake Italian Butter Rum and if your not convinced on spending your money just stop by and give it a try with their free samples. Found this gem at the Cal State Northridge's weekly farmer's market. Their mini bundt cakes are ALL THE RAGE among my co-workers and the students here! You can't go wrong with any flavor, but the shared favorite among us is the Italian Butter Rum. But everything is delicious..from their Carrot Cake, to their Cinnamon Churro, to their Chocolate Peanut Butter. And 3 for $12 is honestly worth it considering how yummy it is! I'm sooo sad they won't be at CSUN over the summer, but I'll eagerly wait for their return in Fall! Stay away from Dolce Monachelli's or any of their products at farmers markets. We bought two of their bundt cakes at the Culver City farmers market, and neither of us could continue eating them after one bite. (And I'm not one to throw away food, but this wasn't food.) One was a Stevia cake that either used too much Stevia or some other kind of sweetener not listed on the label and tasted horrible and the other was a chocolate cake that tasted really bad as well, just fake. I made the mistake of not checking the ingredients first, assuming a bakery wouldn't put such terrible ingredients into their products and assuming a farmers market wouldn't allow poison and garbage to be sold there either. But I sure checked the ingredients after trying them. This is what they put in these bundts: First ingredient butter sugar bleached flour palm oil soybean oil proplyene glycol distilled monoglycerides daicalcium phosphate sodium stearoyl lactylate polysorbate 60 I was so dissatisfied with this purchase I was motivated to call the bakery. I spoke with a manager and she was snappy with me. She said, "First of all, we're not the only bakery who uses chemicals and artificial ingredients, and second of all, farmers markets don't always have wholesome and organic products." I said I've discovered that now, but that I wanted to know why they were putting such chemicals in their products anyway. She didn't have an answer (the answer of course is that it's cheaper and they don't give a damn about people). I told her that also, the Stevia cake was inedible as well due to a terrible aftertaste (and I told her that I'm someone who uses Stevia every day in my tea and smoothies) and she said, "Ok... and?" Not cheap but the butter rum is super moist and decadent!!!! They sadly no longer visit Culver City's Farmers Market.

They make their cake out of pillsbury batter and only add rum to the mix and a sugar glaze to the top. They have sold people moldy cakes and used to be much more caring than they are now. I used to love their cakes till I found out what they are really made from. Highly disappointed :/ read more

These are seriously the BEST bundt cakes I have ever eaten! My husband and I found this company as a vendor at the Irvine Farmer's Market. I was excited to see the various flavors they have, including a SUGAR FREE Carrot Cake! Me being diabetic, you can imagine the excitement I had when I saw this. I'm a Dolce Monachelli's stalker. I went to buy their cakes on consecutive Saturdays at the Irvine Farmer's Market and then started stalking them on Thursday at the Anaheim Farmer's Market. I've quickly went from buying the mini-bundt cakes to the largest cakes available...skipped right passed the medium-sized cake because if I'm going to do it, I'm going to do it RIGHT. I've received there rum cake as a business gift in the past so I thought I'd order one for the family. I ordered on November 28 and paid $28 for the cake and $22 for 2-day FedX delivery. Never received my cake so on December 8 I called the company and received a voicemail. I left a message about the problem. I did receive a return voicemail stating they have problems with their ordering system and that they'd send the cake and not charge me. But it is December 15 and I still do not have my cake and my credit card hasn't been credited. I've called 3 times to no avail. The cakes are good, but if you run into issues, they do not follow through. Found these wonderful bundt cakes at SoCo farmers market. I am always a little nervous about the texture of gluten free desserts but these were delicious!!!! (A well known bundt cake chain makes gluten free but they have the consistency of dry cornmeal). These were super moist and had the consistency of a non gluten free cake.
