It was my first time trying it, and my friend (who's a big fan) took me for breakfast. We had pan con chicharrón and tamal peruano, and everything was absolutely delicious. Alfajor de Maicena - These absolutely melt in your mouth and are filled with perfect dulce de leche Alfajor de chocolate - The chocolate flavor really kicked it up a notch for these. This was my favorite out of the bunch Spritz Cookies - So these are called spritz cookies because they are technically piped instead of using a cookie cutter! They were the perfect sized sugar cookies but fair warning. You will eat four of these before you realize how many you've eaten because they are that good! The crumble texture was amazing. I discovered Dolce Amore Sweets at the Manassas Farmer's Market and was so happy when they opened their own shop. I visited their shop recently to buy our favorite Mini Alfajores and Peruvian Chocolate Cake. I love that I can buy Peruvian Chocolate Cake by the slice! And it's my favorite place to go whenever I'm craving for chocolate cake. My boyfriend really loves their mini alfajores and can finish a box in one sitting. I would also recommend their pianonos. Very quaint and delicious little sweet shop! My girlfriend is obsessed with dulce de leche and this is one of the very few places that we can find it engrained in a wide variety of their pastries. Aside from their baked goods they also have drinks. It is a nice place to come after dinner to just sit down, have a cup of coffee, and snack on some cake. I tried to order a dulce de leche cake here once and I never got a response through their website or e-mail so that was pretty disappointing. These tasted like garlic , the chicken looked like the filling had been blended. It looked and tasted nothing like a Peruvian empanada! I loved that the owner is super engaged with her clients via social media. As a food critic, I think Dolce Amore's has one of the best Peruvian Chocolate and Lucuma cakes in the area. Along with the crustiness of a Peruvian breakfast sandwiches . I do think that there are three things the business may improve. First , buying an espresso machine. Second, better it's chiffon recipe which is very dry and not moisture as the original recipe. Last , having a restroom open for customers, this should be a must since I have visited the bakery shop more than once and it was out of ordered. Do not forget to try it's exquisite "rosquitas de anis " which is a very traditional Peruvian delight. This place is very cute! But pricey! I ordered a pionono slice and a tiramisu to go. I also ordered a chicken empanada to eat before my 50 minute ride back home. I decided to eat the empanada while it was still warm and boy am I glad I did because although it had a delicious taste to it, the empanada dough was incredibly dry so I can only imagine how crumby it must have been when cold. The pionono was delicious! And the tiramisu was pretty good as well but I am not willing to spend $15 on three items after nearly an hour drive. I would like to go back to try their ice cream or would consider this bakery to supply mini desserts for a small gathering. The small items seen in their glass galleries are sold by the lb which is someone what confusing because there is no price displayed for them even if it is the price per lb. My family went here for desert after the Jukebox Diner, which is right next door. I also snagged some Carne Empanadas in addition to desert and thought to wax poetic about the pastry and crusy. The pastry surrounding the beef filling was light, buttery, and flaky baked to a golden brown. The crust of the pastry was delicately scalloped and flaky. The pastries and cookies looked like individual pieces of artwork. We look forward to the tamales. We also saw some gorgeous birthday cakes and my son is set on a soccer ball birthday cake. They had a wedding cake example that was absolutely stunning! The people in the bakery were nice and friendly and the bakery was clean. Even the hallways leading to the bathroom, that my son needed, were spotless. This is 3rd time here and I always thought that some of the prices are a bit high for my taste . The combinado was a little too sweet , but the rest of the trets were so good ,The lady who helped me was so nice and knowledgeable of the treats . I tipped and asked to put the money inside the jar , I asked if she was going to get her tip , but she was not sure . I wish I would have known this otherwise I would never would have tipped . A couple of weeks ago I ordered a Coconut cake from here for my mother's birthday celebration. The cake was good, so I decided to go today and try their tres leches since my birthday is coming up I thought why not taste it first and see if I am impressed with it and to order some other goodies for the family. I was really disappointed in the tres leches it was super bland and just tasted funny. My daughter ordered the velvet cake and well she is a kid and thought it was good. My girlfriend (peruvian) and I found this place out of nowhere and gave decided to give it a try. We grabbed the chicken empanada and the chocolate/dulce de leche cake slice. BOY LET ME TELL YOU- the empanada was AMAZING and it came with an amazing sauce. Dont skip on this one. The cake... ohh boy the cake. MUST GET. The whole time my girlfriend and I were eating the cake she kept saying that it reminded her of her childhood and its EXACTLY like how they make it in Peru.
