Friendly service every time I've been there. Dojo Dog makes life easy when you're a college student tired of GBC, Crossroads, and Cafe 3. It's not as pricey as other places -- heyo, Chipotle -- and tastes twice as good. Plus, it's located right on campus. This place is incredible. Yeah a hot dog costs like five bucks but it's very filling and the flavors mesh beautifully and you can taste the quality and the different textures ahhhhhhh Everyone who works there is also incredibly nice. I love the kendo dog, at first I was like...fish flakes? But then I had a sample and I immediately ordered one. The one with the seaweed and teriyaki is also awesome. I havent tried the pork sung. Their hot dogs are pretty good (who knew seaweed on a hot dog would actually taste good?) But I don't think they're worth $5. Top dog is considered an expensive hot dog and its $3. I would consider Dojo Dog for $3, but not anymore because in the end, a hot dog is a hot dog. Also the service wasn't as great as other people have said. Maybe you have to be the owner's friend to get that kind of service because the guy that took my order (assuming he's the owner) was more preoccupied in talking to his friends in line behind me than in taking my order. read more

The thing I love most about Dojo Dog is their Field Roast option. My omnivorous preferences are for minimal animal product, and this is one of the few places that provides a great alternative. Further, the people working in that truck are genuinely friendly and have a great grasp of customer service. It takes time to make your food, but the fact is they aren't making it until after you order it, so whatever it is hasn't been sitting around all day. The people were really nice, so that's always cool. First, the girl that took our order helped us figure stuff out 'cos we were totally not prepared. Once we got it together, the guy who handed us the food was also nice. The food was a little hit or miss, kinda bland at times but also interesting with the Asian inspired stuff like bonito flakes and nori. I don't believe anyone, EVER, tasted hot dogs as good as the ones at Dojo Dog. At first, I was pretty reluctant to visiting a food truck since it does not give you a "nice" culinary visual. A friend of mine kind of forced me to eat there since he believed it would change my view on food trucks,and it definitely did. The first time I visited, I was in a rush. I had 2 hours before a mid-term, didn't want to wait 5-10 minutes for a meal, and then use another 20 minutes to finish it. My friend did the right thing and persuaded me to go to Dojo Dogs. We eat the hot dogs in less than five minutes, ran over to GBC to study, and then did the tests. We both got A's people! Dojo Dogs are amazing, I have so far tried the Ninjitsu (personal favorite), Shaolin Monk, and Wushu. I recommend all of them! read more

The vegetarian dog is crazy-delicious, and super unique - unlike any imitation hot dog I've tried in the past. A friend of mine is the ultimate anti-vegetarian, and even he loves it! Went to Sierra Nevada to have some beers, walked passed this truck and walking passed it I could tell it was something delicious!! Lol after we bought some beers we bought fish and chips and a mushy dog. The fish and fries were so good! Crispy crunchy fresh fish and a interestingly delicious hot dog! Fantastic service every time I've been to this student-run food truck outside of UC Berkeley's campus. I think the fact that this is a student-run establishment is absolutely fantastic, and the food is absolutely amazing to say the least. The blend of American and Japanese cuisine is genius, and the Ninjitsu dog is fantastic, especially when paired with Dojo Dog's TranquiliTea. Pros: The Tranquilitea: is AMAZING. I'll often find myself chugging a whole one while I wait for my dog to come out and will then subsequently purchase another to take back with me. The DOJO dogs: are amazing! I was afraid to try their Dojo Dogs at first and was sticking to their normal hot dogs. One day out of curiosity I decided to take a shot and upon doing so realized I had been missing out on sheer awesomeness. To those afraid of trying fusion cuisine, I was in your boat not too long ago, but I'd encourage your to try their WUSHU dog and have your mind blown. The Service: is GREAT! I was hesitant at first to try an asian style hot dog, but it was delicious! My boyfriend and I shared a Wushu dog which is the pork sung, cabbage, and teriyaki hot dog. It reminded me of the Japanese Teriyaki marinaded hot dog musubis I used to eat when I was a kid. It was pretty reasonable too-- at around $7 each. I've been here a couple times and the service is wonderful. No matter who is working here, they always make it so that my day is just a little bit brighter by the time I walk away. They are constantly giving out free samples. Carlo is awesome! I've had the wushu and the ninjitsu. Personally I prefer the ninjitsu because I like seaweed a lot more than cabbage. The price is a wee steep for a hot dog, but they really do offer a product you really wouldn't be able to get anywhere else. I consider myself a hot dog expert because mainly, I worked the hot dog cart for almost 7 years, to put myself through college. I'm quite a hot dog snub because after working in the industry, I know an exceptional hot dog to an ok one. So, I don't take this lightly when I say that this is one of the best dressed hot dogs i've had. The only hot dog place that I go to is Pink's in LA and this place comes close. When I first heard about Dojo Dog from a friend, I was really excited to see what an Asian twist on a hot dog would taste like. I finally tried one for the first time today. I had the ninjutsu which is a crispy bun with a hot dog topped with Japanese mayo and seaweed. it was absolutely delicious! I have a theory that many foods can be improved by nori and teriyaki sauce. Take spam, for example. Vastly better as spam musubi. Or pancakes. The whole concept of pancakes, made better by okonomiyaki. And now, hot dogs. I'm not a great fan of hot dogs. In part because most hot dogs themselves are pretty nasty, and also because you get the same toppings pretty much everywhere. Ketchup, mustard, and relish are a travesty to hot dogs. Sauerkraut is fine if you can get it, but it's best for bratwurst, and chili dogs are a food in itself. But this? Nori? Katsuo*? Teriyaki sauce? Kewpie mayonaisse? All beef hot dog? On toasted Columbo buns? This is a MAGICAL food. Nori. It makes everything better. (*I got a ninjitsu with bonito flakes. Did I mention the service is excellent? I tried the Ninjitsu Dog and it was delicious. I especially liked the banh mi style baguette which was both soft and crispy (unlike the traditional white bread which is too soft). The flavor of the nori seaweed and crunchy texture of the cabbage toppings are the perfect complements to the hotdog. I also got the tranquilitea (brewed mango jasmine tea). I thought it had just the right amount of sweet (not overpowering) and hint of mango. Definitely refreshing! read more

Enter the dojo! Great in concept and practice. I'm a vegetarian, and the vegan dog was delicious. The wasabi mayo is a great compliment (when is it not, come to think of it). If you ask, they'll put the sauces under the bun AND on top, which is exactly what you need for those bottom bun bites. The bread is also greatt. I have to say I am pretty disappointed in this place. I had very high hopes with being blown away with such creative hot dogs but it all just fell flat. I bought a groupon so was able to try one of each. After tasting each, it came down to the fact that I basically just paid for the novelty of tasting asian inspired ingredients in a hot dog. Which all of the ingredients, might I add, I already had in the house and totally could have done myself. I think the flavor could have been vastly improved if they didn't use just a plain old hot dog. At least have the options to have polish sausage, hot links or bratwurst. The bread is also non special typical hot dog bun. Not to mention they were all pretty small in portion- I mean for $4.60 per dog, they were long but very skinny, no mass to it. With the such plain average sausage and bun, I was hoping the sauce and other toppings would compensate but those didn't either. The sauces didn't do much to compliment the boring link and all the other toppings such as the cabbage were pretty bland. The shaolin monk was particularly disappointing as it appears very creative but ended up tasting exactly how it looks- take a flat sheet of seaweed and wrap it around a hot dog. Of the 4 dogs, my favorite was the one with pork sung, and that's only cuz i love pork sung, so the hot dog cant even take credit for that. For over priced asian inspired hot dogs, I would rather head over to Doggie Style in Alameda- at least they have much more variety of toppings and links there. read more

So this place was previously my favorite Cal food truck place to eat, but now I like the Vietnamese place much better. Reasons to go: owner went to Cal, 420 friendly, the deals are great, ice tea is good, very new age food, very creative. Bad: they've really lost popularity since the vietnamese place opened, so I just really don't like going there, plus the food is really not all that memorable. Lastly, I understand the whole design, and it is cute, but it is very apparent, especially based on the vietnamese restuarant's success, they should focus more on the food and less on the cute-sey stuff. I will go back again if I ever want a new aged hot dog, and I would consider re-reviewing this place, but as of now I am sticking to my review. read more

I was walking by and randomly gota wushu dog. The person who took the order (is he the owner?) was really nice, and it was a suny day...so i felt good and ended up ordering a combo instead of just a dog. Nice flavor, surprisingly good. It just felt a teensy bit expensive to charge $ 6.45 for a dog ad a soda when the dog itself was like less than $5. Although id be willing to pay that for a dog with slightly more meat. The dogs themselves are decent with a nice snap, but for 2 dollars less you can get a top dog, or for one dollar more you could get 2 top dogs. This is essentially a gimmick which I think can only be called tasty because they use good bread and hot dogs, and then have mayo or mayo related sauces on it to give it that extra savory bite. The other bulk purchased dried asian stuff isn't really necessary but I guess it gives a reason to charge alot more.
