I used to Love this place, but not anymore. Since they moved from the previous location the quality of service and place decreased significantly. The place has a TERRIBLE smell and looks so unclean. From my last visit; my dog came back very skittish and quite sick, a stomach bug with a terrible diarrhea. So much different from previous visits when he was not willing to leave the place. It used to be so much fun!!! At least one of an old employe was super sweet. some others they just don't care much. No daily pictures or daily routine. When I picked him up, he was SOOO STINKY. After a 7-hour flight, and a few hundred I was not ready to get home to bathe him and spend the next few days and nights helping him fight his stomach issues. (Vet visit etc) Sorry for the bad review, hopefully this will give you the energy to get back to the old days. read more

If you're just looking for day care, I think Dogtown Coconut Grove is fine. Our dog Lilo had fun playing with the other dogs, and we really liked D'aveion and how he handled our nervous dog. Unfortunately, Dogtown did not meet our expectations when it came to our dog's safety, comfort, and health, and our overall experience with staff was disorganized. SAFETY: During her most recent stay, we were informed informed that Lilo got into a scuffle with another dog. We were informed that our dog and a puppy "nipped each other" while playing. I understand that these things happen, but she now has a chunk missing from her ear and will likely have a permanent scar. COMFORT: After the scuffle when it was time for bed, the photos uploaded to Lilo's diary showed that they put her to sleep with a towel on the floor. When I asked the reason, staff told me that they didn't want her to get blood on her bed. I don't know any dog owners who care more about blood stains than their dog having a comfortable place to sleep. HEALTH: During Lilo's first stay with Dogtown, photos uploaded to her diary showed her on the edge of her bed with some poop in the corner. Staff had already left for the night, so she would've been left lying with her poop for 14 hours if I hadn't reached out to management. DISORGANIZATION: We requested our first overnight booking for 6/25-6/30. Booking was confirmed on 6/17 at 6:20pm. Then, on 6/24 at 7:02pm (about 12hrs prior to drop off) we were notified that our booking would need to be cancelled as she had not yet completed a daycare trial. For our last booking 9/18-9/21, on the online forum I had selected 8pm as a drop off time. I was contacted on 9/18 at 2:08 pm and told my selected drop off time was too late. If someone had just reviewed the online forum when my booking was confirmed we could have avoided these issues. For all of these problems, management responded promptly and attempted to remedy the situation as best they could. However, the frequency of issues has been overwhelming. I would recommend the following changes: 1. Carefully check each dog before leaving for the night 2. Be mindful of the photos posted to the diary 3. Review the customer's form prior to confirming a booking 4. Update the website. If you google "Dogtown Coconut Grove" and click "Coconut Grove Dogtown" on the Google listing, you will be directed to what looks like a complete page, including an FAQ section that says "We do not have restrictive drop-off or pick-up times" and "After-hours drop-off is available for members". Surprisingly, this does not match the FAQ tab. read more

I don't usually leave negative reviews, but this place has let me down more than once. I've brought my two small dogs here over the years only when I had no other option, even though the price is already pretty high at $135 a day. 1. On one stay, my dog was actually bitten by another dog. The only thing they offered was a 10% discount, which barely touched my $800 bill. It didn't feel like they took the situation seriously at all. 2. They also signed me up for their membership to give me some small perk, and when I tried canceling it a month later, it turned into a whole ordeal. I had to reach out multiple times just to get it taken care of, which was ridiculous. 3. And then recently, I booked a short stay on a Monday and wasn't told it was non-refundable. When I asked for a refund two days later, the owner wouldn't give it and only offered credit. I explained that I've already had several issues with them, but it didn't seem to matter. The lack of transparency was on their end, yet I was the one stuck with the loss. At this point, I honestly regret ever bringing my dogs here. The owners seem more interested in sticking to their policies than actually listening to customers or owning up to their mistakes. read more

This is the first dog boarding and grooming encounter my 15 year old Border Collier mix has enjoyed and left smiling! Every time I have taken her to get groomed anywhere else they have shaved her down EXCEPT FOR HERE!!! They dematted her, gave her an amazing cut and left her coat the best it's ever looked. Because of how great the grooming experience was, I trusted them to board her while on vacation. The experience was fantastic! They sent daily updates and pictures which helped put my mind at ease. When I went to pick her up she saw me, turned around and wanted to go back in. Everything about the experience was great. I took my 8 year old Maltese to Dog Town once & they had done a fantastic job. I was very happy with the results! I decided I would take her a second time before Christmas to have her ready for the holidays. My dog was a bit matted because she had been wearing a Christmas pajama for about a week. When I picked her up, they decided to shave ALL THE HAIR OFF OF MY DOG. I mean like the WEIRDEST looking haircut I have ever seen on her. She came back completely red, had so many shave burns, and completely naked. They even cut the hair from her ears all off.... if you know what a Maltese is supposed to look like you would know that Maltese aren't supposed to have tiny ears. It was absolutely horrible and my poor dog was so embarrassed with how she looked that she hid from everyone. The worst part is that I called to speak with the manager and they told me they would write my number down and relay the message and I never heard back from them. It's such a shame because the place is so nice and we had such a good first experience. This is not to bash the company as a whole, but the groomer who groomed my dog. They didn't even make the effort to brush her out, they just decided it would be easier to completely mess her up. I am writing this a couple months later because my dogs ears have still not grown back, she looks absolutely terrible. She is getting groomed now somewhere else and they mentioned what these people had done to her ears and it just upset me all over again. I hope they can find out who decided to do this to my dog and have a better eye on the job their employees are doing. I have been taking my two dogs here for year for a few months now and they love it. The grooming is done really well and they really enjoy playing with the other dogs. Choosing a groomer can be scary- but so far we have had no injuries and our dogs come home relaxed and happy. We also take advantage of their Sudsie Sundays when we can- and get great deals on grooming! We have checked out the daycare and the hotel too- both great services at a great price. Love this place!!! I've only gone for grooming (three times now!) and they've done an excellent job every time. My puppy is A LOT to handle, but they manage to get the job done. They ask a lot of questions to make sure the haircut is exactly what you like. The cut also includes nail cut, anal glands, and perfume. And the first time you go it's half off at $35! I recently learned that Dogtown has a new groomer so I took my pups there this past week to see how the experience has changed. The new groomer is very nice and very thorough in the questions she asked. She asked a lot of questions about how I wanted the length of the hair, my preference for how she does the face, tail, etc. Overall I felt a lot more comfortable leaving my dogs with her than with the previous groomer. When I picked the pups up they looked great and she explained everything she did. She also wanted to make sure I thought they looked good and you could tell she was open to feedback. It was definitely a better experience and I appreciate them listening to customers and making improvements to their business. read more

Warning DO NOT BRING YOUR SPECIAL NEEDS ANIMAL TO THIS LOCATION. They will promise they can do anything and that everyone is trained. It's simply not true. My friend and dog mom is traveling and has a diabetic insulin dependent older dog. After confirming they were able to administer insulin multiple times, they informed her after she dropped the dogs off that they were unable to administer insulin. Thankfully, she has friends who care so I was able to pick up the dogs and I'll watch them while she travels due to a family issue. I called before arriving to inform the staff that someone would be picking them up. Since they were unable to perform the services promised I asked if there was any way my friend could get a discount, or only charged for one day instead of two. The dogs had been there less than 24hours and spent one night there. The staff at the front desk was nice, and said they would speak with the owners. Well the owners clearly don't believe in customer service or doing right by their customers. Not only was no discount provided. I was over charged by $10 (200 instead of 190). They also didn't pack all of the dogs food which included home cooked meals for 4 days and I had to go back for one of the dogs tshirts (remember, I called 30 min ahead). Please rethink giving this location your business. Clearly they cannot be trusted with our most precious loved ones and when they drop the ball they offer no remorse or attempt to make things right. Saw another review that said a dog got loose and ran across the busy street. As a dog parent myself, the safety of my fur baby is everything and clearly this business puts their dollar before our beloved pets. read more

When we called the manager for help, she said that we signed a waiver that protects Dogtown from any liabilities. They can injure your dog and take NO responsibility. Managment is not helpful at all. I was running late for my 5:30 appointment and was still greeter so warmly by the groomer and front desk. My dog even popped in the lobby (I know-not good) and they were so sweet about it. Let me start by saying if I could give zero stars I would because the owners are greedy NASTY DOG ABUSING horrible people. CAUTION: THEY ARE DOG ABUSERS WHO ONLY CARE ABOUT MONEY. On Tuesday, I brought my nine month old puppy to Dogtown in Coconut Grove for a grooming appointment. When I picked her up I was in complete shock at the job that was done and when I got home and saw multiple cuts all over my puppy's body, I was distraught. I will attach photos of what the groomer did to my dog and the horrific haircut she thought was acceptable. The haircut was so awful and uneven and my dog looked absolutely bizarre and in addition to that WAS CUT ALL OVER HER BODY. I decided to bring her back in today to get the haircut fixed with a different groomer because I do not trust the first. The groomer today when examining my dog before she fixed her haircut was in complete shock that the previous groomer thought it was acceptable to hand me my dog looking like that and even said "she looks like she was half groomed. she looks like a scary cartoon character." After this exchange I was informed I was going to be refunded for the first haircut (which I thought was nice). TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE. They then had the audacity to tell me that I was going to be charged $50 for this hair cut aka THE HAIRCUT FIXING THEIR MISTAKE which seems completely unacceptable and unreasonable given the multiple cuts all over my dogs body and the fact that i had to bring her back for a second appointment to fix the first one. I am extremely upset. I then got on the phone with the owner and he not once apologized, was completely obnoxious and instead he INSISTED I pay $50. read more

I got my dog groomed (just a bath). Making an appointment was a breeze and the front desk was super kind. When I walked in to drop my dog off I was surprised by the odor and all the dogs barking. I am really pleased with Dogtown! I was taking my son away for a couple days over Fourth of July and needed a place for my 2 year old Maltese mix to be safe and have fun. Dogtown accepted us with open arms on very last minute short notice, at a reasonable price no less! I think my dog really enjoyed it there. He's usually very stressed out when he is separated from me, but he genuinely seemed relaxed when I picked him up. They even gave him a cute little hair cut and he was so soft and cuddly when I got him back. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is that I wish there was some way we could get video or pictures of the dogs while they are. All in all, great experience.
