This place is neat. Lil abner theme through the whole place. Steak was great. Pizza crust was crispy.

This was one of the worst. We had the ribeye dinner. The salad bar was iceberg lettuce only some carrots a few other salad bar stuff. The bacon bits were weird, not bacon the soup , clam chowder stunk , out of a can, gravy out of a can, mashed potatoes out of the box the only good and i mean only..... was the steak. Even the iced tea was so weak that if i closed my eyes i would have thought i was drinking water or????? . This place was pretty disappointing. We hiked in Pictured Rocks park for the three days preceding this meal. Our hunger made it edible? I ordered a Turkey Club sandwich - the turkey was very low quality and over processed, limp ice berg lettuce, no tomato!?, the bacon was okay and the bun - very chewy! ew! The fries were okay. You can get fries with gravy ala poutine - the gravy was definitely straight off the Sysco truck. My companions ordered the "homemade" pizza- which was clearly on a frozen crust, they served it with the cardboard! My total for sandwich, fries and a soda was $12, steep for the quality. The Dogpatch is an good average restaurant. You wont find nothing special here but the food is decent and it is hot. As others have said the wood cutouts are neat and the menu is fun. The breakfast I ate was average just like the burger I had. So far I have eaten there 3 times and all three it was good but nothing to write home about. read more

We went for breakfast. The food was good once we got it all. My eggs were wrong and then i waited 20 minutes for two scrambled eggs that were not seasoned. My brother in laws omelet was wrong too, but like I said, the food was good. The service was also great and felt great about the mess ups. Not a fan, we only went here based on a favorable memory of my wife from when she was a child. Service was decent and the food was edible but way overpriced. Maybe it's marked up for the tourists but it wasn't worth it for the food. There's a gift shop but why would I want a memory of this sub par meal? read more

Only had a breakfast buffet on a Sunday morning at 11am, no other food. Buffet was edible, but not great. Hard to mess up breakfast, but maybe best we weren't there for lunch. Very old supper club like atmosphere. read more

Nice, clean, colorful but only so-so food. We had heard from locals that this place used to be the "gold standard" against which other restaurants in town were judged but it's lost some of its early glory. There were real eggs in the breakfast buffet but ONLY the buffet was offered even though they promoted themselves as serving breakfast and they were not busy. read more

We ordered hamburgers with fries. The patties seemed fresh. I enjoyed mine. The fries seemed like they came from a bag. Everything needed salt. The service was nice. The decor was not my style, but we're in vacation and we had to give it a try. Would I go back? I think so. But only to eat hamburgers. read more

This place is TERRIBLE!!! Took us half an hour to get seated, even though multiple waiters made eye contact with us. The line started to get so long behind us that people were leaving constantly, not acceptable. Finally, when we get seated, the waitress leaves us with our menus, doesn't even ask us if we would like some water while we wait, and walks away. She seats multiple others in line and starts to serve them, leaving us in the dust. After multiple attempts to get her attention, we were completely fed up with this restaurant's ridiculous mess that they like to call customer service and left. Salad and soup bar is the saddest excuse of any nutrition, the kitchen staff when filling up the condiments had to sniff it, health code violation I bet. I'd give it no stars if I could. $10.99 for a breakfast buffet is ridiculous but I guess they have the market cornered on a busy Sunday Morning in a tourist town. The food was disgusting and none of us were able to finish an entire plate. The Strawberries were old and squishy. My advice is to watch your step because the sloping floors and poor lighting are an accident waiting to happen. My suggestion is not to use the women's bathroom if you're over 5' tall or incapable of putting your knees to your forehead. I also don't recommend going if you have a phobia of large weird characters staring at you while you're eating. One of the waitresses was kind enough to almost knock over my child without saying excuse me, I'm sorry, or any of those other words you learn in kindergarten. Another waitress was claiming to be a 'coffee pusher' and felt it was appropriate to tell all the guys they can just go pee in the woods if they drink to much. You know, while we're eating. Stopped in after a long drive for a simple beer and burger. We were told to seat ourselves, which was fine, however, after 10 minutes of waiting for a waitress to come our table a family was seated in the next booth and the waitress proceeded to give them menus never once looking at us and then she walked away with theirs orders. I give it one star because of the way the place looks on the outside with all the cartoons around it, but besides that this place is horrible and WAY over priced. I ate the expensive sea food bar and the only good thing was the nothing special salad. I'm not one to ever complain about my food, but when I saw the 3 measly little shriveled up pieces of bacon on my sandwich that were obviously the microwave bacon you see in the grocery now, I had to complain! Our waitress told us that if was "the best & most expensive bacon you can buy"! What a load of crap! I felt like I paid $8.95 for a lettuce & tomato sandwich on soggy toast! This is a fun Northwoods restaurant good food great service and lots of atmosphere located in a great location. We came in late but they served us anyway very hospitable we even came back in the morning for breakfast and they were just as nice. We spent $70 on a lunch for 4 of us (2 kids) and the food was terrible! We fed the pizza to the seagulls. I'm pretty sure it was a "Jack's" pizza from the grocery store that you can pick up for $3.00. While the "special" was pulled pork with soup and salad bar, the only flavor in the pork was vinegar. I asked what the soup was and the response was "it's Friday"... so what's that got to do with anything? What's the soup? Well apparently if it's Friday it's a given that the only soup available is clam chowder. The soup and salad bar were nothing special but at least they were edible. Finally, the restaurant is dark and dirty. We will not be visiting the Dogpatch again. Suggest you dig up your vittles elsewhere too. Give your dog a bone instead. read more

By far the worst restaurant (if you can even call it that) ever!!!!! Absolutely disgusting....and that's being nice. We sat at the bar. There were plastic cups full of (what looked like) pop and water lined up on a counter, on the back wall of the bar....just sitting there as if waiting to be served. The bar was filthy disgusting. I can't believe they are still in business. I don't understand how or why ANY hotel, or other place of business, could recommend this place for their customers to go to....why would they even want to associate themselves with this place???? Rudest waitress ever. Singled me out for abuse without warrant. Kept asking is that what you want when I didn't order the special. Bullied until I ordered what she wanted...the special.
