Emmie was happy, healthy, and clean when I picked her up... I will update my review as I use him more, since I just had a customer service issue with my other kennel... I have two mini dachshunds and they are very anxious dogs, so I've never left them with anyone other than family before. When I called to inquire about a stay for them, they immediately offered to give me a tour anytime during their regular business hours. Their housing areas for the pets are clean, and the place where my dogs stayed was half inside and half outside. They were able to administer my dog's anxiety meds as normal and to provide them with their regular food, which I brought from home. They also allowed my dogs to have "human only" playtimes, as they are both reactive/fearful of other doggies. It was about $45 a night for each dog, including their daily playtimes. It is great to have this safe daycare and boarding spot so close to home, in case I'm ever away from my pets. It was a very hot weekend, so they had misters going, and kiddie pools out. They were also kind enough to post a photo of my babies on their social media while I was away, and they gave me the option of calling in to check to see how they were doing.

It basically seemed like a super busy dog park with all the dogs in one place. When I'd pick up my pup, he was exhausted and not in a good way because he seemed too stressed to play, like he was relieved to be able to lie down to rest and was always extremely thirsty. This place is great for medium-large very social dogs, and again the staff is great. If they started separating dogs and utilizing their other yards I would go back.

I constantly see her going out of her way to help reunite lost pets with their families, posting across multiple community groups, scanning animals, and doing whatever she can to help. Today, while driving my daughter home from school, we spotted a tiny Chihuahua running in the middle of the road. We immediately picked it up tried to find its home. Unfortunately, we couldn't figure out who the owner was so we took it straight to Natural Instincts. Angela scanned the dog for a chip, and when none was found, she took photos of it, posted in local groups near where the dog was found, and before long, we were able to locate the owner. What really touched me was that she didn't just scan and send us on our way. She gave us a harness and leash so the little pup would be safe and secure while we searched for its family. This is who she is. This is how she runs her business. Natural Instincts isn't just a pet store. It's a place run by someone with a genuine heart for animals and the community. When I called to schedule an appointment for my mini Sheepadoodle, I was questioned about why it had been five months since her last visit. She is still a puppy, I prefer to keep her coat longer, and I regularly bathe and groom her myself. I also clearly stated that she was not matted. However, upon arrival, the groomer immediately began checking her over as if expecting to find matting. She did not I then explained that I wanted her to maintain a sheepdog look while having her coat shortened slightly for the warmer weather. When I picked up my dog, she had been completely shaved down and nothing like what I had asked for. Even more upsetting, she appeared frightened and anxious. I have never seen her react this way after a grooming appointment. She stayed glued to my side the entire evening, which is very unlike her. The groomer chose the quickest option without regard for my instructions or my dog's comfort. I expected professionalism and care, and unfortunately received neither.

Almost 13 years with this special Aussie was not enough time. He will not only be remembered by us, but by those he touched over the years. So many memories. He was an entertainer at Yelp gatherings, Petco Park events (we had the opportunity to participate in the very first box seats in the Barkyard at Petco Park) to winning contests at the Gaslamp Holiday Pet Parade. Dr. Derek performed home euthanasia on our beloved pet. He gave some tips on how to handle our other pet who may be missing thier partner in crime. He was patient and kind. We stayed with our pet to provide comfort and to say goodbye, which is never an easy process. Grief is a funny thing that sneaks up on you at random times but you must go through it and not around it. Kindle has passed over the rainbow bridge. We will miss him greatly. You never know until your animal is gone how much space they really took in your life. Love and light sweet pup. You never met a soul, a treat, or a ball you didn't like. Slowly, then all of a sudden... I noticed you wearing down. Sometimes I had to lift you into or out of the car. You no longer wanted to chase the squirrels or bark at passers-by or walk as far as you used to, but that's OK. The love between us was strong and never wavered. In good times and bad. You never cared if I was cranky or stressed or tired. You were my best friend no matter what. My heart hurts because your favorite spot on the floor is now so cold and empty. When it's time to say goodbye, everybody has the same doubts: are we doing the right thing? How can anything be more difficult than to weigh your need for peace against our own need to hold on. But we accept this pain so that it can end yours. And in an instant, your struggle to move and breathe turned to calm. My sweet baby boy. We brought in our cat for a second…read moreopinion (the petco vet stated that cat was having liver failure and needed several expensive tests and treatments that we could not afford). We found that our cat ate toothpaste- who knew that toothpaste is poisonous to cats?? The staff at Country Pet Hospital did EVERYTHING they could. I authorized my cat to be euthanized and 10 min later the doctor called me to say the cat was eating and wanted to give her a fighting chance - best to wait a couple days. The doctor saved my cat's life - he truly cared. After a couple days, doctor told me to take my cat home thinking she would eat more in her own environment- he was right. The staff called daily and then twice a week to check on my cat. I am very grateful and will never use any other vet. BTW - pricing was cheaper at County Pet Hospital vs the petco vet. Two month later , my cat is back to her shenanigans! THANK YOU COUNTRY PET HOSPITAL!!!

My family and I have had a lot of animals over the years and have been to many hospitals and this…read moreis probably the WORST vet hospital I have ever been to. I live in Alpine and wanted to give the local vet a chance but each time I went they were awful. Their main objective is to scam you for more money and they don't care much for the animals. First, with my elderly dog, we had to put her down because she was suffering, and when we called they responded that they could not put her down because she had not been regularly visiting their clinic and that it's unacceptable that we had not stayed loyal and gone to them every time, even though she hadn't needed to visit a vet. Mind you, we had been boarding her there every year and they knew our dog well. This is also when we were already grieving and had to drive all the way to Santee for a new vet clinic that was awesome. Then with my cat, she had some issues with urinary tract infections because she was constantly outside and never drank much water even when we tried to force her to drink more. So the first time we took her to a different vet because we were already not happy with our vet and we were told what it was and given antibiotics. She got better even after almost dying and they were great. Then the next time, we gave the Alpine vet another chance, but they said they needed to run multiple tests on things that were not even an option for what she had, and they refused to believe us when we told them that she had had it before and just needs antibiotics. She almost died and we had to bring her back to the other vet that day. Lastly, we had a dog that had a nosebleed for a while and the Alpine vet told us they needed to run multiple tests that cost thousands of dollars, and when we were hesitant because we knew it wasn't many of the options they proposed they said he probably has a tumor and would die soon. My dog ended up being perfectly fine and had no tumor after we left with no tests. I also have another story that gets worse but overall we will never be going back and everyone we know in Alpine will be told the same every time.
