Ollie on the treadmill

We've had several dogs in the past, and various trainers. Nothing ever worked very well, and our dogs were always treat-demanding, poorly behaved, barking in the house, and difficult to walk due to leash-pulling/jumping/barking at other dogs. We had the same problem with our new dog Ollie, our beautiful standard red poodle. After failing several other trainers and various classes, we were referred to Jimi Livshitz of Your Dog Guru. After Jimi trained Ollie at his training facility, he brought Ollie back to us, then Jimi came to our house daily for a number of weeks to train us to be able to not only use all the commands, but to also teach us how to protect Ollie from danger, particularly from poorly controlled dogs. The results of his training are nothing short of a miracle! We are extremely happy! Compared to our pre-Jimi-trained anxious dog who incessantly barked, jumped on guests, ran all over the house, pulled on the leash and so forth (creating lots of misery for us), our post-training Ollie is a happy, loving, self-controlled, obedient dog! Amazingly, all the anxiety and nuisance behaviors are gone! He follows all commands happily, is under control and not distracted, walks off-leash next to our left leg, and plays and lounges with us in the front yard without need for a leash. He follows multiple commands without any problems including properly entering and exiting doors to and from the outside, heel, come, go to kennel, go to cot, place, sit, down, get up on the mailbox or wall, and get in and out of the pool. Ollie is now very happy, loves to play with us, runs on the treadmill unaided for 20 minutes twice a day for additional exercise (which he loves to do and looks forward to) and he does all this readily and without hesitation or needing to repeat commands. The word NO is never required or used now. All he wants is love and praise, and no treats are ever needed. We couldn't be happier. Jimi's training has facilitated an obedient, happy, healthy, and loving partnership for Ollie and us, literally transforming our lives. We feel sorry for all the poorly trained anxious dogs and owners out there. Jimi is a very strong advocate for dogs, and he will not allow punishment, leash neck-yanking, or choke chains to be used. Jimi gets our highest and most enthusiastic recommendation!

Jimi is fantastic, my dog had some leash/dog aggression when i rescued him and he's also deaf so i was afraid to take him on walks thinking i couldn't control him when he started to pull and bark. Jimi taught me so much just in the evaluation that by the next training session my dog wasn't pulling anymore and barely reacting when he saw other dogs. He still has more to learn and jimi is very clear on expectations - you can't expect quick fixes because learning takes time, but regardless i feel like we've already come such a long way. I even taught him how to use a treadmill for those really hot arizona days when walks are just for bathroom use.

We were so blessed to have jimi train our dog Bailey. I can't say enough about him. We have the best friend we could ever have! If not for jimi training our dog, I don't know what we would've done! He is literally amazing and has become a great friend of ours and our dog! The best dog trainer ever!! All of our friends are amazed of our puppy! She is the best because of your dog guru!

Bonding

I decided to get a new puppy but knew my life was hectic and busy. I needed a friend beyond the human needs. I went ahead and did in kennel training due to my lack of time and my busy school and work schedule. Jackson was a handful. Countless accidents ,barking I couldn't walk him on leash without him crying and being afraid of cars and people. I called Jimi,After a couple months I received a phone call, I was allowed to see him . I was concerned he would not remember me. But Jackson knew who I was ,acting as if he never left. Today Jackson is more then I could ever imagine. He is now my service dog and only wants to please me. Our bond is forever greater and I'm excited for our future together. Thank you!

I rescued Maggie from a very neglectful situation and when I got her home I didn't realize the amount of trauma she had. She was anxious and afraid of everything and everyone. I didn't think she would ever be "normal". Jimi not only helped me with her commands but he also fixed her fear issues. Thank you for everything!!!

I tried a different training program shortly after I rescued her which made her reactivity worse. I knew I had to find someone who could provide the type of training my dog would respond to. Brenda did a consultation with us and she really listened to what the concerns and goals were, and came up with a personalized plan for us. My frenchie is a different dog now in the best way possible as a result of Brenda's training methods. We had four sessions, and my frenchie can see another dog on our walks and not lunge or jump at them. It's brought a new form of connection for her and I as well because we can enjoy our time outside of our home together!

He was 3 years old and completely untrained when we adopted him. We got the basics done through PetCo but we still had some troublesome behaviors we were having trouble addressing. We did 4 sessions with Brenda and the change has been remarkable. She came to our house, which helps train him in a comfortable environment and she adapts her training to the dog. A big part of training is also for us to learn how best to reinforce the commands; Brenda left us with homework for the week to practice. Woody still has some stuff to learn but we have a strong foundation to continue his training journey and a lot more tools in our toolbox. Highly recommend Brenda!

A colleagusuggested that I try a dog trainer named Bob Solomini that he had used in the past. His passion and confidence in Bob convinced me and even though I was very skeptical and worn out I decided to give it one last try. I am excited to tell you about my invaluable experience and what I learned from it: -my dog was only a small part of the problem, but the majority of the behavioral problems stemmed from me. Dogs aren't born knowing how to behave the way humans would like them to, so we as responsible dog owners need to teach them. -we don't automatically realize what we are doing wrong and unless a true professional who really cares can teach us the correct way we can't be sure that we will ultimately have a happy relationship with our pet. -after four years of pulling my hair out and stressful walks with my dog I wound up moving to a new neighborhood, and my dog was totally out of control when I walked him. When he saw people with dogs, he went crazy and I could not stop him from barking and pulling. In fact, he pulled me down a couple of times where I sprained my ankle and another time where I hurt my knee. In fact, most of my neighbors walked the other way when they saw us and complained about my dog's bad behavior. After the first lesson, I immediately knew that I had found something different. Humane, focused,, professional, and results driven. I am so lucky that I found all American K-9 and especially Bob Solomini. I love walking my dog now, and all of my neighbors have praised the incredible transformation that they see. This was literally a life-changing experience for my dog and for me. I am so thankful that I found somebody that really knows what they're doing and really cares -not only is Bob a great person, but also the Best dog trainer that I have ever met. They are a wealth of knowledge and I successfully implemented many of their suggestions. For example, a "softer" approach to the prong collar I was using, and better timing with the remote collar. I now realize I talk too much to my dog and should use more indirect, non-verbal "pressure" to communicate commands to my dog. Jose and Monique of JD Powerhouse offer a 6-week DIY Saturday afternoon basic obedience class. I enrolled to "refresh" my ability to "communicate with" or effectively handle my dog. I have participated in various obedience classes with my dog over the years, so my dog was somewhat trained. She's a 4-year-old, American Pit Bull Terrier, with no major behavior issues. Although, she did not like when other dogs barked at her (or me) and would react for short bursts until they passed us on our daily walks. Since my dog is a 70-pound, square-headed, somewhat muscular dog, she appeared the aggressor. Jose and Monique increased my confidence and ability to maintain quiet control of my dog during our neighborhood walks. As always, I needed the training, not my dog

What I really appreciate in addition to their expertise, clear direction and upfront approach is that they didn't sell me on what I didn't need. José made it clear very quickly that it would not be the best use of money to board and train my dog, Piper. Instead, he offered me a customized package that would maximize the training and my money. That's badass. I have gone to other evaluations where trainers were trying to scare me into pick the most expensive package by over inflating the concerns I had. I left those feeling overwhelmed both by the price and by the evaluation itself. That is NOT the experience I had with José and Monique and it made the decision to choose them so easy. I highly recommend JD's Powerhouse K9 Bootcamp because you can trust that José and Monique truly care about helping you to be the best owner you can so your dog can trust you and be their best. I am quickly gaining confidence and I can see Piper is too. Also, as a side note, they are amazing humans. They do great work work shelter dogs and I know I've found my training home. We had previously completed seven sessions with another trainer at Rob's Dogs and while that experience was fine for basic obedience, it felt like 'training' rather than the deep level behavioral correction we actually needed. Thankfully, because of the Rob's Dogs lifetime guarantee, we were connected with Joel. From the first hour, the difference was night and day. Joel immediately identified the core issues and provided professional, actionable insight on how to actually shift the dogs' behavior, rather than just running through commands. We already feel significantly more confident moving forward and have total trust in the tools and guidance Joel has given us. If you are struggling with behavioral issues that go beyond the basics, I highly recommend working with Joel. We are incredibly optimistic about the progress we'll make in our upcoming sessions.

My 81 year old mom moved to an urban setting with a small yard and a neighborhood with lots of…read moresmall, yappy dogs that sets off reactivity in her German Shepherd. Although the dog has been through several training programs, she had recently reverted back to being reactive on leash: barking, pulling, and lunging at any dog that barked at her or gave her a "look". Thankfully I found Rob's Dogs through a search online. Rob offers dog training either through individual sessions sold as a packet of 8 or 3, or you can elect to do a board and train method. Since my mom's dog had done two board and trains with other training facilities in Florida and Texas, I opted for the individual sessions sold as a packet of 3. Not to disparage the other training schools, I want to note that the dog had learned a great deal of commands, but she was a little rusty and selective when doing them and was selectively reactive on leash around other dogs. What we needed was a trainer that could come to my mom's neighborhood and see the dog being reactive in the environment where she was going to be walked. Thankfully Rob's Dogs offered this as an option. It cost a significant amount to do this, but it was possible. The additional cost was for the mileage and drive time to my mom's place. We had a meet and greet at the facility. Rob, the owner, met with us and got the back story on the dog and the current behavior problems. He took the dog and walked her around a bit and near other dogs, tested her response to commands and leash pressure. He explained the package options available to us. He also made us aware that we would be using both a prong collar and e-collar to reinstate her former training. We had these tools, but my mom hadn't used them with the dog since she left Florida, and I had never used them. We were assigned a trainer who was contracted by Rob. Lauryn was super friendly and had a love and full understanding of the German Shepherd breed. She herself had a German Shepherd. She went over the operation of the two collars which I was not familiar with at all. Rob's dogs sent us a link and password so that we could watch some important training videos. His website also had some very useful training tips. I highly recommend watching/reading this information carefully and then reviewing it again each week. It's easy for owners to slip into bad habits quickly which results in their dogs behaving in ways they don't want. You will have to enforce rules and get into a routine. Restrictions can be lifted once the dog consistently behaves as desired. You will find that YOU will have to do the hard work. The trainer and Rob's Dogs will assess your current situation and give you the tools and training to use those tools to reinforce good behaviors. It won't happen overnight. You will need to work with the dog for at least an hour each day to reinforce the seven commands and expectations. As I mentioned, we only had three sessions. This training was going to determine whether or not my mom could keep and handle her dog. Immediately after the first session, we started using the tools and putting restrictions in place inside the house to set the law of the land. Right away, we noticed a difference. While the dog was already really well behaved in the house, it improved her response to us when we walked her outside of the house. The prong collar made a drastic difference in her behavior when she saw other yappy dogs on the walk. I no longer had to worry about her lunging, pulling or barking incessantly in an aggressive stance. She still got up, moved forward, and barked once, but it was all very controlled. I didn't have to use all of my strength to hold her back. The real test came when my mom was able to walk her dog around other yappy dogs. After session two, my mom was easily able to do this, and I felt confident that continuing this training would allow my mom to keep her dog. Her German Shepherd is sometimes still reactive, but it is much more controlled and manageable now. In time, and with continued consistent practice, I believe my mom's dog will eventually stop the reactivity altogether. She has already shown amazing progress and only slips occasionally. If you are looking for effective dog training (well, really we know it is human training to learn how to effectively communicate with the dog), then consider Rob's Dogs. You will work hard to get your dog's behavior issues resolved, but the longterm results will allow you to have a wonderful relationship with your pet.

Francine was so lovely and gave me a tour if the gorgeous facility. She took the time to explain grooming, day camp and overnight options with me. She recommended Tori to groom my handsome havanese, named Teddy brewski and she does an amazing job. Teddy adores Tori and I just can't handle the cuteness. She listened to all of my concerns (as Teddy is getting a little older) and had a few details that need a bit of extra attention. I am so happy and so is Teddy because he loves being the most handsome dog in the 85253. We love her so of course we recommended furbabies to my parents. My parents recently rescued a beautiful cocker spaniel named Josie but were a little concerned as she had a pretty rough life before being adopted. She was so scared and timid so we didn't know how she would interact at a doggy day care or grooming. But, Francine took the time with my parents and explained training options offered at fur babies as well as doggy day camp. So, Josie went for training sessions and to play with some other doggies. Each time she did a little bit better than the last. Josie built up the courage to get groomed and has been getting gorgeous by Tori and most recently spent an entire vacation in a suite at fur babies! She did so well. We were sent updates in a portal with pictures of Josie each day. When we returned, Francine told us that Josie blossomed into a confident dog! It has been beautiful to see the transformation from a once timid and scared dog to a gorgeous and confident cocker spaniel! She loves other dogs and is now doing photo shoots! Who knew we had two models in the family? We can't say enough about the entire group of people that work at the fur babies in paradise valley. There is a person there 24 hours a day and the facility is amazing! Just walking in the doors and watching the dogs play is an instant seratonin boost.
