This review is a bit overdue. We adopted a cute little terrier mix from a local rescue and, after…read morehaving to toss out many shoes and experiencing several days of frustration, hired Mark to train us and our new pup. We were convinced that our new pup was the devil incarnate and we were being karmically punished for something horrible we'd done in a past life. Mark offered scheduling options and we opted for him to come to our home for training. We mostly stuck to our schedule, but he was flexible when circumstances changed. The training was fantastic. He provided a curriculum and modified it, when necessary. By the end of the 8 training lessons, our pup was absolutely transformed. Seriously. It's not magic, though. It was up to us to consistently train between lessons. And we did. And we still do. Mark provided exactly what we needed to be successful in understanding and managing our pup's needs, and how to get him to respond to us favorably. Our 11th week with our new pack member is coming to a close and we are so happy that we called Mark to help us through the frustration. We highly recommend his services. Thank you, Mark!

In a short 4 week Barrett (Australian Cattle Dog) has improved on walks and successfully had a play date with a friends puppy. I highly recommend Doggie Steps and Mark as your trainer.

So I live in New Jersey and have been using a very well respected and highly rated dog trainer in…read moremy area. While they helped me with many things they fell flat when it came to getting my 10 month old German shepherd mix past the puppy stage. When he hit 9 months the treats and positive training STOPPED working. He did great with no distractions but real life? Absolutely not. I wasn't able to walk him anymore. He was TOO much for me to handle at 70 pounds. My dog loving Aunt who uses him with her dogs and fosters suggested I sign up for his online lessons. At this point I figured what could it hurt and it was less money than 2 private sessions with my other trainer. Ok so...20 minutes in...positive and negative reinforcement?!? Hello!?! Makes so much sense. I did the research and got the pinch collar and the ez trainer 300 collar and less then 1 week later...here we are! On a walk with other dogs, other people and he didn't pull, no lunging and I didn't fear once the life of a passing pedestrian, dog, cyclist, squirrel or chipmunk and I didn't fear being pulled into another state on a last minute whim of my 10 month old Sheprador which let me tell you was fully a worry of mine a couple weeks ago. So excited to continue these online lessons. I finally feel like I'm equipped.

We will definitely be back, thank you to the CharlieBar team for taking such good care of my babies! They came home exhausted from all the fun they had!

I can't say enough good things about Lindsey!…read more We recently brought home a rescue that I knew would be challenging but had no idea how hard she would be. She was food aggressive, she was aggressive with our family - bit all of us at least once - attacked our other two dogs and literally went to the bathroom wherever she preferred. I'm not one to give up on dogs but knew that if we kept her we needed help! We decided that if we were going to work with one of our dogs - we'd also work with our other naughty dog to retrain him of his bad habits. IN THE FIRST SESSION we saw significant changes in their behavior! She is so knowledgeable, so professional, and she got my kids involved so they know what to do! We just finished our last session and I'm so grateful to her for all of the tools she's given our family to help our dogs be the best behaved versions of themselves! We still have our homework, and they still have a ways to go but this experience has been so amazing! Thank you girl, love ya!!!

We moved away earlier this year and were so SO bummed to leave such a great training and caretaking provider. All of her team is prepared to deal with difficult dogs and help reinforce good behavior, so all of our lunchtime visits included built-in training for our little pups. The team also sent photo updates and left detailed report cards every single day without fail. Lindsey herself is such a boss when it comes to training and is so so patient and welcoming. All of her own dogs are super patient too and were incorporated into the training sessions to help our little pups get used to being around other dogs. We (pups included) miss Lindsey and TLDSH tremendously!

First off, I'd like to say that the thought of leaving our pets at home while we went on vacation…read morewas extremely stressful. But once we met John and Shauna, the owners, we quickly realized our fur babies were in the best hands possible. They were not only warm and welcoming but also incredibly professional. If you're a pet owner looking for a true 10-out-of-10 service, this is the company. Our pet sitter, Karen, was nothing short of amazing--so loving, so attentive, and so patient with our very needy black cat, Jax. She didn't just stop by; she stayed, hung out, and genuinely spent time with him. And even though our gray cat, Dolce, didn't come out very much, she was just as incredible in caring for her and making sure she felt safe and comfortable. Wow... just wow! We were floored by her love for animals. THANK YOU SO MUCH for taking such great care of the fur babies we love dearly. I would recommend this company to absolutely anyone. And honestly, anyone leaving anything less than a five-star review? Shame on you! These people love animals and treat your pets as if they were their own. Amazing, amazing, amazing! You'll always be our go-to whenever my wife and I take a vacation.

(I thought since the reviews were perfect, they might come thru... but instead... nada!) We were considering giving them a pet sitting job for over a month in length. But unfortunately they can't be reached via the phone. I left a vm and waited an entire week and got no call back. Backstory: Ironically I believe there's someone named Shauna who operates the website and Yelp(and does a prompt job responding), but John the caretaker is the one who's phone number is associated with the biz, and he is unable to be reached to line up appointments!! (I contacted them a year or two ago when we were considering using them. We didn't end up needing them, but when we tried them last week when we finally did, John did not decide to call us back.) I'm glad others have good experiences. But that was not ours. ‍

Once we found All-American K-9 and Erika, we knew we had hit the jackpot. We handed our sweet (but crazy) Labrador over to her for a 3-week Board & Train, with a little trepidation. After 3 weeks, we were amazed to get back the most well-behaved, calm dog. Not only did Erika train Finn, but she also taught us how to keep up the training. The responsiveness is unparalleled. I always get well-thought-out and specific answers to my questions within a few hours. I also love that this isn't just a one-and-done training. We have lifetime access in case we have questions, which is a relief, since we have someone who knows Finn and can help in the future. The Board & Train might not be affordable for everyone, but it was absolutely worth every penny. I wish we had found Erika months ago.

The transformation after finishing the program is incredible. I now have the confidence to take Dovi into any environment and know that I can keep his attention. He walks better, is more attentive, and his overall behavior has improved. Best of all, I feel our human-dog connection is better. We are both happier and more confident after Bob's training. Bob is straightforward, matter of fact, and easy to learn from. Can't recommend it enough!
