She used harsh chemicals on him and left them on too long, which burned and irritated his skin. On top of that, she aggressively scratched him with deshedding tools, leaving him raw and in pain. Within 24 hours, my sweet happy and energetic dog became lethargic and very unwell, barely able to move and not eating or drinking. We had to rush him to the emergency vet, where we were told that his rash and sickness were caused by contaminated grooming tools and/or the harsh deshedding products that were left on him. I asked all the questions and double checked that there was nothing else that could have caused this and he doubled down on the groomer causing this harm. Hearing this from a medical professional broke my heart -- my dog suffered because of carelessness and disregard. No pet owner and more importantly no pet should ever have to go through what we did. I entrusted Helen with the health and safety of my dog, and instead, he was harmed and traumatized. Please think twice before allowing Helen to touch your dog. Our pets deserve gentle, safe, and compassionate care -- not to be put at risk. This service was last July, 2024. The service was extremely pricy and not very good. My usual…read moregroomer was on maternity leave so I needed a new groomer for a little while and tried out Bow Tie after seeing the reviews. Helen was sweet and Jelly was not injured during the groom. However, Helen shaved my dog Jelly all the way down due to being "too matted". Jelly had been to many other groomers before in the same state (sometimes scruffier/even more "matted") and was always able to be brushed out and given a normal cut. (I have included before and after pictures of jelly -- you will see he was NOT "matted" beyond help.) All other groomers I've had take the time to de-tangle. It felt lazy that Helen decided to not take the time to brush jelly out and instead told me she "had no choice" but to shave him completely, changing the shape of his face and tail. If I had known she would've done this, I would've taken jelly to another groomer. It took months to get him back to normal. I showed pictures that I wanted jelly to look like and it was not at all. At the end, it ended up costing over $300, and she asked me to please leave a tip too. (My usual groomer is $100, and does a MUCH better job than Bow Tie.) I understand it is difficult to run a small business but I was upset with the service. I would only recommend this service to someone who just needs their dog to be trimmed, and might not be particular about how their dog looks after. Edited to add: the reason why I'm leaving a review months later is because I was showing pictures of Helen's handiwork to my regular professional dog groomer recently, and told her about Helen's reasoning behind why she "had to" shave jelly down (Helen is the only groomer to complain about this in the four years I've had jelly & his care is largely the same) and my professional dog groomer told that it was ridiculous that jelly was shaved down for what was clearly minimal matts, and that it was clear that Jelly was not brushed down properly by Bow Tie (maltipoos require wet brushing, not the dry brushing that Bow Tie attempted, because they have curly hair and not fur).

Our dog has behavioral issues - he isn't aggressive but is terrified of EVERYTHING and has been…read moresince we adopted him from Operation Kindness due to the trauma he experienced prior to his arrival there. The owner and I texted back and forth to go over what needed to be done and they opened the salon early so he could be on his own while we were dealing with a blowing coat that just wouldn't stop. He was fine and handled everything quite well and they avoided doing anything that involved loud noises and distractions and said he was extremely well behaved. The only issue was in the process - and it was a lot longer than what Petsmart does when our previous dog used to get his furminator treatments as he also blew coat (apparently they're distant relatives according to Embark!) and since Radar shedding so heavily that it took quite a while for them to remove all the extra fur without being able to vacuum it off him due to the noise, so likely in the process of getting most of it out with a rake his hair got cut a bit and felt kinda spiky for a while (still better than when he was blowing coat though) and his thin-skinned practically hairless belly near his hind legs got a small scratch with the rake - no big deal and easy to treat. They are very accommodating and the next time he needs to go to the groomer as opposed to being done by us at home we'll be bringing him back as he can't handle Petsmart like our last dog and is over 70lbs but the price was only slightly higher but with more focus and attention on Radar's special needs. I really appreciated that. It took longer than the estimate I was given but that is likely due to drying time and how long they spent removing as much loose fur as possible as opposed to spending just 15 minutes with a furminator. If a rake is needed, a rake is needed. Also he came back with beautiful nails but unfortunately the grooming process - and this happens at home too - caused his Balanoposthitis to act up and require medication for a bit. If you've never groomed a dog yourself you might blame groomers for these sorts of things but seeing as I used to do it as a part time job myself back when I was able I know how things go. Apparently all he wanted to do during his grooming session was the same thing he does to us and to his vet techs - give kisses the whole time. I highly recommend this place if you have a very skittish dog, or a larger breed, or both - just make sure you make the arrangements properly and you will be taken care of. I wish he hadn't needed the rake, or that the rake they used wasn't sharp enough to cut his hair or skin, which is why I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5, though in reality I would give an A- if I could grade that way - but that is an issue of tools available or chosen to be used out of tools available considering his temperament.

I could hear her barking and yelping for me as soon as she heard my voice. The cut was ok, but there was poop on the shirt I'm guessing because they leave them in crates and can't take them outside because there's no grass.

As many pet owners know, a puppy's first grooming experience is a big deal and can be overwhelming, which is why I carefully chose this groomer based on their positive reviews and reputation. Unfortunately, when my puppy was returned to me, she looked like a completely different dog. I was genuinely mortified. Her eyebrows were completely shaved off, which drastically changed the shape and appearance of her face. I understand cleaning up the face so a puppy can see better, but this went far beyond that. I barely recognize her anymore. Additionally, she is a Cavapoo (75% poodle, 25% Cavalier) with naturally very curly hair, yet she was blow-dried so aggressively that her coat is now completely straight. One of the defining features of this breed is their curls, and I don't understand why the groomer wouldn't want to enhance those features rather than eliminate them. I am honestly worried her curls may not come back. On top of the grooming itself, I was quoted $65 for a standard puppy cut, but when I went to pay, I was charged $75. I was told this was because my puppy did not fit the "XS" size category. My dog weighs 5 pounds, according to her vet records from just last week. I would genuinely like to know what qualifies as an "XS" dog if 5 pounds does not. Overall, I am extremely sad and disappointed with this experience and will not be returning. I hope this review helps other puppy owners carefully consider where they take their dogs, especially for a first grooming appointment. ***I have attached a before and after of my puppy. The picture of her playing in the snow is the before, and the other picture is the after.***

They are taken care of so well here and it is great they have a doggy cam to be able to see your pets while you are away. They always are both tired from all the fun and activity from daycare or their boarding. The owner is so great at knowing each owner/dog as well. Although they are popular and have lots of dogs at daycare, they are attentive to each and every dog. My 8 year old pup sometimes likes his space from a large group of dogs. They were able to notice that he seemed overwhelmed by all the dogs at some point and gave him the space he wanted. This is the key things that make them so great. It is exactly what I would of wanted and love that they were able to pick up on his signs of wanting some space before joining the pack of dogs again. Also huge bonus that they offer baths for dogs as well. Highly HIGHLY recommended this place if you are needing a doggy daycare or boarding.
