You can tell the staff truly prioritize the well being of the pets and want to match them with the right homes. Everything was organized, transparent, and efficient. I am so in love with my puppy and SO GREATFUL that I chose to adopt from here!! I highly recommend Valley Humane Society to anyone looking to add a furry family member. Valley Humane Society plays a critical role in our local pet adoption ecosystem, and we had the…read moreprivilege of being given a tour recently. VHS goes to local county shelters and saves well-behaved cats and dogs that are about to be euthanized because of overcrowding. They have a medical clinic onsite that does a wellness check, and then their 200+ volunteer army steps in to foster and care for these cats and dogs, while permanent homes can be found. Our tour focused on the cat side of VHS. First we checked out the youngest kittens, which are kept in separate rooms, followed by Kitty City, which houses the remaining cats onsite (the rest are in foster homes). We met all the Catizens of Kitty City, including Mayor Big Bird, who has since been adopted, and several others with interesting personalities and histories, like Donna, Dealership, and Zombie (my favorite!). The animals are lovingly cared for, and the operations at VHS are well-organized (e.g. laundry area, kitchen and break rooms, etc.). Kitty City also includes an outdoor play area for cats, affectionately called "The Catio" !! Thank you, Valley Humane Society, for all that you do for our community.

This last recent visit, the staff took the time to deliver my one dog's medication and deal with her "cone of shame". The best part and I know they really care, my dog forgets I am there when I drop him off and doesn't want to go home when it's time to leave. Dog and owner approve.

She happily wags her tail when she arrives and just as happily wags when leaving. Many of the staff members recognize her and know her name. We think she's comfortable with staff and gets plenty of attention. I think that it also helps that we pay for daily playtime. When we arrive, we bring one of her "donut" beds, some "fresh" food and some kibble along with her favorite toy. On longer stays, we also give her one of my worn t-shirts, so she doesn't forget who we are. We often see her picture taken during playtime on the Dublin Creek Kennel website. Unlike some kennels where all the dogs run in packs based on size and temperament, dogs here only run together if they're from the same family.

We had picked up some lunch and were looking for someplace that we could eat it. I searched for a Dog Park on my GPS and it brought me to this park. After I parked, we walked by the gate and saw that it was limited to small dogs 20lbs and under. There was no one using the park. We walked down the street where we had seen some picnic tables and had our lunch there. Our Shiba just sat there patiently waiting for us. She did score a few small pieces of oxtail and that may have helped keep her on point. While we ate, we kept an eye on the park. No one used it while we were eating. When we were done, I took a calculated risk and took her into the park. We chased around for a few minutes and then it was time to leave. One woman walked by with a small dog, and I asked her if she wanted to bring her dog into the park and we would leave. She basically laughed at me and said no. I found out later that the large dog park was across town, so we'll have to look for that one next time.
