We celebrated my daughters birthday here and my daughter came out saying that this was the best birthday party that she's had. All of her friends, 10 of them also had a great time so much that one of them had to get a pet the immediate next day. This was quite clean and meticulously kept up. The host was so gracious and kept the kids entertained and engaged and also took care of the animals quite well. They did not rush us out of the party and let us take our time last the 2 hour mark. I plan to come back to bring my daughter for the Calico crew events. Highly highly recommend this. read more

East Bay SPCA in Dublin is a top-notch, 5-star facility! I have adopted a puppy; taken 2 puppy classes; attended a birthday party; and been on a Girl Scouts field trip here. My review is based on my various experiences here. Here are some things I learned... There is a vet clinic onsite, and they automatically give each animal a checkup and make sure they're healthy after their arrival, clean and groom them, spade and neuter them, get them vaccinated and microchipped, and even do a personality test and professional photoshoot before they go up for adoption! (None of these services do you pay for, by the way, when you adopt. They are all included! You only pay for the small adoption fee!) And get this... When you are interested in adopting one of the animals, you don't just get to take them home. They require EVERY member of the household to meet the animal, including baby and other dog/cat, in order to lower the chance of the animal being returned (which would be very sad). I thought this was SO well done! So I put down a deposit to make sure the people in line for my sweet puppy didn't snag my little guy and returned within 24 hours with all of my kids so we could take him home. (Let's just say running and squealing was involved, haha!) Everyone I have met at the East Bay SPCA was incredibly professional, quick to help, and friendly. It was such a wonderful experience. I was so impressed by the SPCA that they've become one of the organizations I donate to now. read more

I fostered with them for several months and enjoyed my experience and the support I received while doing so.

What a great SPCA! My husband and I adopted our cats from here about 13 years ago and stopped by again recently to find our cat some friends after the passing of his brother. The place was just as I remembered: 1) super friendly staff that explains the process from start to finish. 2) rooms for the cats to have their pods and lots of toys to play. 3) easy access to bond with the cats and try to find your forever friends. If you are looking for some furry family members this is a great place to visit and spend some time with the animals. They work hard and give these animals lots of love so that they are ready to go home with your family! read more

Thank you East Bay SPCA-Dublin! Top notch facility and staff. They clearly take such good care of the animals here. So much love. I would live to work there. What a rewarding job. I saw this guy online and just had to go get him. I wasn't planning on getting another dog after the passing of my beloved dog of ten years passed, but he popped up and looks so much like Milton, I had to go meet him. Staff are super nice and attentive. They keep the place clean, organized. I loved that they have free donations such as beds, leashes, collars. I even snagged cute pjs and a raincoat. Canelo was well cared for. Happy to report he's doing great and loves his new life. He is super psyched to have found his forever home and he's going to have a great life with me. Thank you for all you do. read more

I came here on a whim looking for a potential dog since it will be a year since our 13 year old went to dog heaven, and it was only a few minutes Uber ride where I was getting our car serviced. This SPCA in Dublin looks fairly new. It was clean. Way cool I was able to walk-in to see the dogs and cats during their open hours from Wednesday through Sunday (I came on a Saturday) and I'm guessing during my visit, most dogs were adopted (which was fantastic) since they had very few selections. There were a good number of kittens and cats however. The little tabby kitten was adorable. I even got a chance to chat with a cat volunteer who was a feline expert. In this facility, they have play areas for kids, a meet and greet rooms including an outdoor play area where you can bond with your potential furry new family member. Some geriatric dogs were available for free adoption. There were limited staff during my visit but I came during lunch hour. While I didn't see a potential dog during my visit, I did manage to say hello to a cutie dog in the play room where a previous family decided not to adopt him. Sweet puppy dog with high energy and will be an amazing family member who has an active lifestyle. All in all, it was nice way to spend the afternoon with extra love from the furry friends. Cheers! read more

I took my elderly dog to get medical attention. He was crying out in pain and was pacing anxiously when we arrived at the facility. The ladies at the front desk were quick to get us checked in. The wait was not too bad for an emergency vet. I believe we were there for maybe 2 hours from beginning to end. They didn't find anything physically wrong with my dog but he actually calmed down by the end of our session and we came to the conclusion that he might've had some anxiety. They gave me medication to help with pain in case he experienced any before I could get him in to see his regular vet. They prepared estimates for blood work and x-ray but said that I can also wait until I can get him to his regular vet since it appeared that his pain had settled down. Overall, the service was great. Staff was friendly. They have complimentary coffee, tea, and water. I didn't see any pet friendly bowls but I gave my dog water from a paper cup since his mouth was so dry from his heavy breathing. I would recommend this location. read more

I took "Vicki" on a field trip today. She is sweet, VERY smart, calm, excellent on a leash, great with kids, and non verbal (not a barker). She loves chin and belly rubs and is food motivated. She'll be a great companion for hikes, walks, or just cuddle on the couch. ID#57576 read more

Good dogs and cats, helpful staff, nice facilities, useful classes. Have to go to the Oakland location for a Vet though.

I had the privilege of taking Dragon (8-year-old gentle doggie) out on a "field trip" today. He is an absolute darling. We walked around the local trails and went to the park near the SPCA. As an older dog, he is calm (despite the kids, lawn mowers, BBQ smells, squirrels that we encountered today) and still has good energy to walk 3 miles with me today. He really deserves a good home! If you are looking for a dog that is already well-trained and has a calm demeanor, please consider giving Dragon his new forever home. (If you cannot adopt, please consider being a foster volunteer to take the dogs out on field trips or sleepovers.) read more

We adopted an older male cat (8+) from east bay spca in March. We fully checked out all the paperwork ( which said that he was a "healthy cat" and bloodwork showed " no abnormalities". He chose us and we immediately fell in love with him. The only comment from the shelter was that he was " easily stimulated". Three days later, I found a large lump on his lower abdomen and brought him into our vet. He had a 105 degree fever and the vet confirmed the lump. She took a biopsy and confirmed a large abscess. Bloodwork showed he was very ill and would require surgery to drain the abscess and install a drain. The total charge was $1400+ including medications. As we had already chosen him we went ahead with the surgery. I called east bay spca Dublin and told them what had happened. I asked them if they would be willing to pay something towards his vet bills and they said "no" but we could return the cat. I said no, they obviously didn't take care of their animals and why would I bring him back after we had paid for his medical care. I then called the East Bay SPCA in Oakland and they said the same thing. Beware of this group! They present themselves as a non profit but I don't think that they can be trusted. Four months later, our cat is loving us and we love him. Very disappointed in this rescue! read more

Conveniently located in what seems to be a very new community in Dublin, it was very clean inside and plentiful of parking in the lot. I came here to spay my 6-month old puppy and like many have said, it's a month out to schedule an appointment so be aware of that! I was pretty nervous about spaying my puppy but I knew it was the right thing to do and I was able to book an appointment on a Thursday morning. They called me the week of to remind me of the appointment. We got there at 7am and by the time we were done, there was about 5 other dogs waiting. We signed in with the receptionist and the vet examined her. We picked her up before 5p - if you don't, it's a $25 late fee or $50 overnight fee. We didn't have the right sized cone for her so we bought one there for $15 and also microchipped her for $20. Her hair wasn't shaved for the IV drip so that was a nice surprise. She walked out by herself after surgery so that was another pleasant surprise. I must say, the SPCA really knows how to perform these surgeries because her incision area was so clean and small! I figured because they do it so often, they are really good at it and they are! The green tattoo wasn't as obvious either and right by her incision. They gave us pain killers for the next three days (one pill a day). Overall, great experience and wonderful staff! read more

This group does wonderful things for animals in the area. The place is clean and everyone is so helpful and kind. Adopt don't shop.

I absolutely love this place. The animals are all very well cared for and never euthanized. When you adopt, they provide you with information about the animal's temperament, health, and history (if known). They are also very honest, which helps you select a suitable pet for your home, budget, and lifestyle. You can also return any animal that you adopt (without a refund in most cases) without a time limit, and they will then place your pet in another suitable home. This is very handy if you have an unexpected lifestyle change or move and can't take your pet with you. I adopted my cat, Nora, from this shelter and I'm very happy with the result. She has turned out to be a wonderful and silly companion who makes me laugh every day! read more

10 month only spay. Scheduling: 5/5 I made an appt for my 10 month old pup to be spayed. I made the appointment end of Nov, beginning Dec 2019 and her appt was today Jan 15, 2020. If you are planning on getting your fur baby fixed or spayed know that there will be about a month wait. Appt Day: 5/5 I got a call exactly a week before my pups appt which was very nice. Check in for my pup was 7:30am. Filled out some quick 1 page of paperwork for my pup. Did an exam for my pup, they weighed her (7lbs and 3oz) and also checked to see if she had all her adult teeth. They went ahead and took her to the back I was out of there by 7:50-8am. Pick up: 5/5 I let the front desk know I had arrived and the nurse reviewed with me my pups post op care verbally and also got a copy of her home care post op care as well. They gave me 3 days worth of pain meds for her. I also got some extra sedative pills for my pup as well. (she's very hyper) I'll only Give those to her as needed. (Got them for back up.) Home care: 5/5 My pup was able to walk out the clinic just fine. I bought a cone for her but, they sell some at the clinic if you need one. My pups incision is about 1-2 inches long, their is a small green "tattoo" marking on her belly where the incision is. But, it's barley noticeable! She has some resolvable stitches and no post op appointment needed. Overall, I'm pleased with the service I've had. The staff was very professional and very compassionate with myself (I was nervous) and my fur baby. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND! read more

I have to say this is absolutely the most amazing animal shelter I have ever visited! (I've visited many many different ones in the Central Valley & East Bay areas as my passion is helping animals & rescues) the facility is very modern & always very clean. The animals each have their own actual rooms with windows and glass doors instead of cages. All the animals are taken care of extremely well by staff & veterinary professionals. There is plenty of staff and volunteers to help educate & facilitate the public meeting a new potential pet. They do get a lot more charity funding possibly as they are the SPCA and they are run very well. I wish every animal shelter was like this one! read more

This is an excellent place to adopt k-9. As far as cats, they look like they are well taken care of with a lot of toys to play with. I'm just allergic to cats, so I'm stopping here. Although they seem to have a lot of kittens available. Anyways, before we went through the process, there's so many questions about how compatible your companion will be. We were granted a 7 day compatibility trial period before we adopted our little mutt. Greg and Tom are really knowledgeable about dogs and were really helpful. I suggest talking to them. Greg helped us with the whole adoption process. Even made house-call follow ups which showed this place really cares. Tom is an excellent trainer as well (small dog training). The place is clean, and the dogs look well taken care of. The second chance dogs get their own insulated room. I think they are air conditioned too. I recommend this place to visit if you plan to adopt. (Check out my pics of "Fiona") read more

I'm quite upset with the staff at this facility. They seemed great at first. I took my elderly father there to adopt a dog. They sold us a 5-year-old pitbull as a sweet, mellow, well adjusted girl, and she definitely was when we met her and spent time with her at the facility before deciding to take her home. They handed us anti-anxiety medications on our way out the door, saying she needed to be weaned off of them, with no further explanation. Of course because of the new environment, she wouldn't eat dinner, so she didn't get the meds. The next morning she bit my father, drawing blood. Also extremely aggressive with other dogs and difficult to control. Absolutely inappropriate to expect that an 80-year-old man would be able to handle her. Shame on them. If you're going to adopt here, ask lots of questions, and don't let them pull the wool over your eyes. read more

I had my dog Bo neutered here today. It is pretty hard to get an appointment especially because the clinic does not seem to answer the phone, but they have online scheduling and if you check everyday you should be able to schedule something a month out. After all with their pricing everyone is probably trying to get in. They have everything detailed and lined out before you arrive. They also have safe drop off pick up method for COVID. The staff was knowledgeable and actually talked me through the sedative medication and told me i probably didn't need it which i was happy about because that saved me $50. My one complaint and reason for taking off a star is because when i picked my dog up he obviously had diarrhea throughout the day (i imagine adverse reaction to medication or stress) and he had it all over his paws, back legs, butt, and tail. Poor guy was covered in it. We rode home with all four windows down (thank god i had a doggy cover for my car) and i had to figure out how to safely clean him up since his discharge paperwork said no baths for 14 days. I appreciate what this clinic does in providing inexpensive ways to spay animals but a simple sorry we didn't have time would have went along way. Especially since I'm 9 months pregnant nothing is really a simple task for me read more

My husband found this place because we were looking for the newest member of a our family. He communicated with them via email and we were scheduled to see two dogs. We took our lil guy (chihuahua terrier) with us and arrived at our scheduled time of 3 pm. We were greeted by a worker and led into an open area where Bobo was waiting for us with one of the workers. We spent about 45 minutes with him to get a good feel on his personality. Our biggest concern was how he got along with our lil guy. My husband was pretty much sold within five minutes! As soon as we decided that Bobo was the one, we went to the receptionist area where we completed some forms and were made aware of any medical conditions and other important things to know. They had us out of there within 30 minutes. Really great people there! We definitely recommend this place. There are a lot of animals who need to be adopted. The people here are great, they really care about the animals, and the facility was really clean! I like this facility because the dogs have a a few places to roam freely outside. Perfect shelter: cats were alert but relaxed, workers were familiar with all the cats' personalities, and meeting cats was the easiest and most relaxing process I have seen among many other bay area shelters. I felt like I could actually get a handle on the cats' personalities in this environment. My boyfriend got a bite from an otherwise very friendly cat out of the blue (was promptly given antibiotic/bandaid), and the worker we talked to was very concerned about tracking that behavior to make sure the cat didn't develop any mood issues. We finally took the plunge and adopted the sweetest kitty here after weeks of looking! His sibling was also adopted while we were there, so it worked out nicely. The adoption paperwork was straightforward and they gave us a lot of info to help get us started, including medical history, when the next vaccine is due, and a Pet Food Express coupon to help get basic supplies. read more

This is the best shelter in the East Bay. We got both our kitties here and had a wonderful experience. Holly is amazing, knowledgable, and so caring. We started looking for a kitten in July. We went to another shelter but weren't really happy with the staff, environment, or kittens. We went to EBSPCA and saw a few kittens we liked. My boyfriend wanted to go look at the dogs. At the end of the hallway, in the last kitty condo on the left, there was this little Siamese who looked at me and said, "You're here for me! Take meeeee home!" I had a Siamese when I was younger and have always loved them. We asked if we could meet Sandwich. Holly brought him to the meeting room where we got acquainted. It was love at first pet. He was ours and he knew it. We started the adoption papers and he was in his forever home an hour later. That was July 2012. Dexter is the coolest, best behaved cat I've ever had. A month later, we started thinking that maybe we should get Dexter a friend. Back to EBSPCA. They didn't have as many kittens this time. But one stuck out to us. Moustache was an eight week old boy looking for his forever home. We met with him in the meeting room and decided he was for us. An hour later he was on the way to his new home. We were a little worried how Dexter would take to a new kitty. But our worries quickly subsided. We put Moustache in the middle of the livingroom still in the crate and Dexter got so excited that he was pawing at the crate and looking for a way in. We opened the top and Moustache popped out. They touched noses and ran off together. They spent the next hour following each other around the house before they took a nap together. I think this goes to show how well the EBSPCA does at acclimating the pets they adopt out. It's now been five months since we've had Dexter and Oliver (Moustache's new name) and they are the best of buds. They play together and more importantly, keep each other company while we are at work. We can't imagine our life without them. Thank you Holly and everyone at the EBSPCA! read more

Oct 2014- We came to the Dublin SPCA after a horrific experience with a different shelter. The staff here heard our story and were so helpful, patient and understanding. My mom and I took our 2 cats in today for the whole package: Shots, flea dip, and spaying. This was the cheapest place my mom could find, and for spaying they only charge $75 per cat. It's a relaxed environment, but when walking in, some of the dogs are obviously scared and will bark rather loudly. If you have cats in a carrier, make sure they have blankets and are secure :-) They took excellent care of our cats and were very gentle with them. For any animal, I'm sure it's a new and disrupting experience for them, but they definitely know how to handle nervous critters with kindness. Post-Op, they said our little kitties would be as high as a kite for 3 days, so we know they will not be in any pain. I really appreciate knowing our cats are in good hands. :) read more

I got the best dog in the whole wide world here at the Dublin location. I'm considering getting a second dog. I'm all about #adoptdontshop, so this is a great option. They have the dogs in little kennels or rooms that are clean. The employees really seem to care about the dogs. Dublin has a few nice, quiet options for visiting dogs. Oakland has rooms but you can hear more from the outside, which is a distraction for the the dog you're trying to connect with. Oakland seems to be a little busier, which is good because more animals can find homes. The adoption fees for dogs are reasonable & there are "club second chance" dogs, who have been there for a long time, that you can adopt for only $50. My brother-in-law adopted a club second chance dog: the cutest and sweetest 11 yr old, blind, 5 lb chihuahua. I took home a 1 yr old dog for $125, and puppies are $165. I'm not sure on the prices for cats. The whole organization is not for profit, and they really work hard to help you be successful when you bring your new pet home: they provide a guide on the basics, discounts off of training, 20% off at pet food express, a free health exam with the SPCA vet within the first 30 days and a hotline. They have a great website that is updated every 20 min so you can check every day to see who has arrived. Of course there are lots of chihuahuas and pit bulls, but if those breeds aren't your cup of tea, other breeds come in, too. I never wanted a chihuahua, but the dog I just adopted is a chihuahua mix and she's awesome. My other SPCA pup is the cutest shih tzu ever & he has the BEST personality. It's hard to believe, but AMAZING dogs are given away for unimaginable reasons, but at least there are places like this! Be patient, you may end up with the dog (or cat) of your dreams like I did! read more

I think this place TRIES to be a warm, fuzzy place. But, it fails. It's certainly pretty to look at but, the forms and $$$ and the mis information we received there when adopting a dog? Was a waste of time Well, we don't support this facility. And, do realize ASPCA is not a NO KILL facility. As is omitted in most every ad. I'll walk in there and I just get this smug, sanctimonious feeling. I see low to middle class families eyeballs popping out their heads when they see the rules, regulations and the MONEY. And...it's not like they are guaranteeing these dogs are BETTER than the ones across the street. Across the street at the animal shelter?
