CAUTION - someone either dropped or spread marijuana in the small dog section of this dog park. Please beware and keep a close eye out on your fur baby. I brought my 4 month old puppy here for the first time and she ended up finding and digesting marijuana. About 30 minutes later, I had to rush her to the emergency vet because she was extremely lethargic, immobile and weak. Please consider taking your dog to another park or monitor your dog that way you don't have to go through what I did. read more

Very pleasant park on the side of the hill. Well kept and groomed. Water available for dogs and a big and little dog side. Fences are only four feet even on the big dog side so be careful if you have a jumper. Drainage seems to be good without that many muddy patches. read more

My girls love this dog park, whether there are a lot of dogs around or it's during a quieter hour. There's a nice green grassy area for them to run and sniff and lay to observe their surroundings. Some of the not as great parts are some small muddy patches even in the hot summertime as well as some holes from digging dogs and dog waste left behind by irresponsible owners, but all in all it's a great space. I appreciate the waste bags which are usually stocked and the couple of dog water fountains as well as the separate large and small dog area. We enjoy sitting on one of the benches and watching our girls have the time of their lives. read more

I like it has small and big dog park separately. It is grassy and has lot of seatings. However when I get there no one was there but poop everywhere, every step I take there is poop. It is nice space to get your dog run off leash but watch out for poops. Also if you bring your dog here, please pick up your dog poop!!!! read more

I pass by this park all the time when I go on my daily walks and can see it is very well maintained. The grass is green and the dogs look happy playing around. There are benches to sit on while watching the dogs, and there is even a large concrete tube in one of the areas. There is a small parking lot at the front, and there are two different areas. One for smaller dogs, and another for larger dogs. Definitely come here with your dog, mainly for my enjoyment to watch them play :D read more

Not too crowded, friendly people and dogs. Mostly full sun but there are shade trees on one side and benches.

The location of this park is perfect. The park is located in a residential area on Amador Valley Blvd. There is a smaller parking lot and plenty of street parking. Dougherty Hills Dog Park is separated between a large dog and a small dog area. They have benches for you to sit, plenty of trees, dog bowls (I wouldn't use those but it's nice to have the option), and poop bags available. My doggo, Indie, and I will take a 2-mile walk down Iron Horse Trail to get to this spot. As soon as we get close, she goes wild! She's pretty lazy in general, so running up and down the park a few times is plenty. She's almost too tired to do the 2-mile walk back (guilty, I have carried my 40-pound dog a few blocks). All the dogs we've encountered there have been friendly and the owners have been attentive to their dogs and responsible. Like any other dog park, it can be muddy if you go too early in the morning. I enjoy the route here and it's never overcrowded. I'll continue coming back! read more

Big grassy area for the little dogs! The big dog area has a bit more exposed dirt but that's ok. I take my little guy to the small dog area however the times I've gone afternoon weekends and after work weekdays there's never that many little dogs only 1-2 the times I've gone. Where are our little dog friends? That's ok sometimes I just let him wander alone or have him join the big dog area. Be careful what you step on it is a dog park after all. I think it's it's well kept all things considered and there's plenty of water and poop bags for our friends. Never over crowed which is nice. It's great to have a local spot for our best friends to roam free and play! read more

Love this dog park. Hate the foxtails that are everywhere. I really wish the city would do a better job of maintaining the grass and keeping the foxtails away. They are very dangerous for dogs and in fact, my dog had a foxtail embedded within his paw in which required a couple of vet visits that also came with the bills. This makes me not want to come here anymore. I don't want to risk the safety of my dog. read more

This trail can be entered behind the Dougherty Hills Dog Park or on the other side near Stagecoach entrance. If you start at the Stagecoach entrance, it is a steeper incline than if you start at the dog park entrance. It's about 2.2 miles roundtrip, about an hour (at least for me!). There is no shade on this trail if you go during the summer, it's best to go in the morning or evening. There's also a lot of ticks on the trail during the summertime so if you take your furry friends, please check them after finishing the trail. Otherwise this is a great trail to get in a short but challenging hike! read more

Just moved to Pleasanton from Oakland and was looking for a dog park to take our sweet Rosie to everyday. It's been 2 weeks and we love it; it a big open grassy area with lots of room to play and pretty clean for the most part. (You have so expect some mess here and there, you're at a dog park after all). Community is great, lots of friendly furry friends especially after work hours 4-6pm. My ONLY warning (and this may be our city-privilege) were a few snake sightings including our own experience this afternoon (we saw 2 snakes today). Please keep your eye on your pups at all times to ensure they are safe and not mixing it up with these slithering creatures! read more

Review mainly based on the small dog area. Park is in a residential area, looks small from the street but it's actually quite big! Limited parking in the parking lot but you can easily park on the street. It's nicely fenced and large and small dog sides are separated; both sides have a double gates for extra safety. Park looks hilly but it's actually not too bad. Small side was really clean. It has a water dispenser, poop bags, pretty trees, and benches. It was not very busy, just the right amount of people and dogs - everyone was very friendly! Rio enjoyed himself; he was so tired! He played with other dogs and he had a lot of space to run. Overall I am very happy and will definitely be a regular. read more

This is a very nice dog park that's located close to my home. I take Mochi here all the time. This is smaller than your average dog park, including its parking lot. If their lot is full, you can find plenty of street parking on Amador Valley Blvd. The grass here was terrible before, with mostly had dead patches & dirt. They've recently renovated this dog park by replacing some of the dead grass, which they should have done a long time ago, but it is a nice & much needed improvement. They do have your typical separated parks for small dogs on the east side, and the larger park for the bigger dogs on the west side. There are doggy fountains available here for your furry companions. There is virtually no shade here, and the dog park can get very muddy if it previously rained here. I prefer to take Mochi here when the weather has been dry and if the weather isn't hot. It can get crowded at times, but the people here are very friendly with their furry companions. I really do enjoying meeting & talking to the fellow dog owners here, while Mochi can socialize with the other dogs or with their owners. read more

I have been coming here since this dog park opened years ago. The City of Dublin has really let this park go. Many times the weeds are overgrown and the gopher holes so large that you and/or your dog can trip, fall, or suffer a major injury. I keep telling myself that we won't return but due to its proximity to my house, I take my chances so my dogs can run & burn some energy. It gets very muddy when it rains so don't expect your dog to come home clean. read more

I gave this park 5 stars because my dogs love it here. We've been to other dog parks in the area and for some reason my dogs feel most comfortable and happy here with the grass. We have not encountered any problems with either other dogs or their humans. I've been bringing my furbabies here for over a year and will continue to do so as long as my dogs love it here. read more

Note: Decent grass, two dog areas (large and small), easy parking. I have been to this park many times now. I juggle back and forth between this one and Bray Commons. The perk here is that they have a larger dog area. So, if you have a bigger dog, this is the only Dublin dog park for you. If you have a smaller dog that likes bigger dogs, take them into that play area. It is kept up reasonably well, quite spacious even for the smaller dog area. It is on a slight hill so the dogs will get a lot of energy out running around. There is a little 2-3 foot brick wall, and my dog will also jump up on that when chasing other dogs, so there is lots of opportunity for them to get their little hearts beating and energy out. There is some shade, although not as much as Bray Commons park. The benches are usually in shade, although if you go at the wrong time on a hot day, the whole park is exposed to the sun, so plan accordingly in the summer. There are usually at least 3-4 dogs here and the last couple times there have been 7-10 dogs (which can be a bit overwhelming for people and dogs). The people are nice, I haven't had a run in with a bad dog owner here yet. read more

Don't come here around 4-5 on the weekday. Just had the worst time and was pretty much bullied into leaving. I was rudely questioned by a older man about my puppies vaccinations. Why would I come here with an unvaccinated pup? We've been here a handful of times and none were as bad as this. Some lady had two bigger dogs that were pretty much bullying my pup aggressively. He's a 4 month old lab and we have never had issues like this before. Some dogs just don't belong in a park with other dogs, especially those with behavioral issues. I have been coming here for quite awhile and I can't believe I haven't written a review! I live in San Ramon but I love grassy dog parks, they're more fun. So I make a trip out here to Dublin to bring my small dog here. My small dog loves both the small and big dog park, he's a little trooper. There's always plenty of poop bags available and the water fountains for dog are great. I like the grass - but one thing to be the look out for is the holes in the ground/raised dirt due to the moles and grophers. Sometimes, it can get pretty muddy in some parts too but overall, I like this dog park. All the dogs are friendly and my dog seemed to enjoy it here. The big dog park here is very big. I get tired just walking to the other side but my dog loves running everywhere in this large space. The small dog park also has plenty of room for a small dog so don't worry! The parking lot is smaller so if there's lots of people, I would recommend parking on the street. Street parking is easy. If you drive up towards this place and noticed it's full, just park on the adjacent street. read more

They have two play areas. The one for big dogs has lot Of aggressive dogs. The one for smaller ones is OK. My medium sized dog loves running here. Also, keep in mind, this place is not kid friendly. Kids are not allowed beyond a certain point. I wish they larger play area had more chilled out dogs. read more

Great place to let my little girl Audi loose at the "small dogs" dog park. Love how they have a separation for larger dogs and smaller dogs. It was decent, there were a lot of running space and sitting benches. The grass could have been a little more well maintained. Will be bringing her back again to let loose to get rid of all this energy this mini Australian Shepherd has in her. read more

We've brought our big bundle of energy and muscle here to get her ya-ya's out a couple of times. We go to the big dog area, which seems to be less populated than the small dog area. Both times we've been there, we've found dogs with good energy and manners, and friendly owners. The grounds are a combination of dirt and grass which isn't ideal, but it's not terribly dusty or muddy either. They have canine drinking fountains, and all the necessary doody duty tools. There is a small parking lot and ample street parking. It's a bit out of the way for us, but a good choice when we're in the neighborhood with the mutt. read more

Re: less than 20+ dog side I came here the Saturday after it rained the whole day Friday. I thought it would be soggy'n'wet, but it wasn't. I went around noon, it warmed up good enough, slightly wet, more grass vs muddy areas. My dog had fun, she ran a lot, and she still ended up clean. Bags always available too. Re: large dog side Plenty of room for my lil'dog (who thinks she's big) to play fetch. But I stay on the small dog side, so she won't get too grassy and muddy. read more

I really liked this dog park. There is a small dog area (supposed to be for dogs 20 lbs and under, but I brought my tame 30-lb dog in & no one seemed to care) & a large dog area (20+ lbs). Each area has benches, grass, and water fountains that the dogs can drink out of. There's also an extra water fountain outside the dog areas, adjacent to the parking lot. Poop bags are also provided. The large dog area is nice & big, with a short tunnel that the dogs can run through & some random old tennis balls lying around if you want to use them. There isn't much shade, so keep that in mind for hot/sunny days. read more

Please be careful coming here. There is a lady who owns a husky and a pitbull mix who can't control her dogs. Both dogs bullied and pinned down our 8 month old puppy.. Our dog was already submitting and crying while both dogs kept jumping on him. This wasn't healthy play. The owner didn't grab her dogs but yelled at them and continued to watch. We had to intervene and leave the park. We spoke to her and her excuse was her dog is a pitbull and there's not much she can do. We love this dog park but don't condone bad behavior by inexperienced owners. read more

Great little neighborhood park in Dublin. Divided into "large dog" and "small dog" areas, this dog park allows for pooches to run around in grassy hillsides that is complete with water fountain (although it drains and so it's good to bring a separate water bowl), dog poop stations (w/bags), trees, benches (for the humans!), and metal dog sculptures. Very good open areas for lots of running around and often you can find balls left behind by other doggy guests. Worth going for a pleasant afternoon of tiring out your pooch. woof woof! read more

I could watch the dogs here ALL day long!!! So can the people driving by the park too apparently ........ Last time I was here, I saw a lady rear end the car in front of her at 30 mph because she was watching all the dogs play!!!!! HAHA!!! There are neat statues and two good sized parks for large and small dogs. The water fountains are clean and always working. The people here are chill and very down to earth, a huge plus. The only downfall is the grass. It does not drain/absorb water well, so it gets muddy quickly and the dogs get filthy! They also have to close the park entirely when the weather is too bad because the grass gets completely ruined. A fun place to take your pups for sure!! read more

My fiancé & I have taken our basset hound, Ryder, to Dougherty Hills Dog Park a few times and it's always been pleasant - EXCEPT for today because he was bit by a boxer. He bled for a few minutes from a bite to his mouth. I don't know WTF this boxer's problem was. He had an issue w/our basset since the moment we arrived. Basset hounds in general are very friendly and non-violent. Our dog is laid back & loves to play w/bigger dogs. He's never encountered such a mean dog at the park. Don't bring your dog to the park if he's prone to attack other dogs! I give this park 4 stars because we never had an issue before and other dog owners have always been friendly. I like how they separate the small dogs from the big dogs. I wish they kept up the landscape better though. But today, they get 1 star. What an awful experience!! read more

I am the owner of two rambunctious, full-of-mojo, rocket powered dogs! These two can't get enough of running around. Naturally, my house isn't big enough for the two of them and so I get to the Dougherty Hills Dog Park as often as I can. It's no secret to the locals and their owners that this is a popular spot in Dublin. Conveniently located right near the Iron Horse Trail, owners of big and small dogs come by the dozens at all hours of the day (No night activity as the place is closed and there are no lights). The space is divided for small dogs and large. I, for one, am grateful for this division as some aggressive large dogs with "Prey Drive" can mistake a small dog for prey! Mind you, that doesn't keep a few small dog owners from going into the larger dog section, but at least they have the opportunity. And what an opportunity it is! This is a leash free park with plenty of space for dogs to run, chase, fetch, and "read the news!" Owners who don't come equipped with their own clean up bags (or forget them) can use the "pooper-scoopers" located near one of the trash cans. While this park has a particular problem with keeping grass in place (They've tried many times...can't imagine how much that must of cost) there are some barren spots in the park which while unpleasant to the eye, takes nothing away from having a large space for dogs to roam. Bottom line, I like the community of it all. I enjoy seeing dogs of different breeds getting together and having a good time. In many ways it can and does look like an ad for world peace. Heck, even the people are civil with each other...and I have yet to discern if that's just because they are dog people, or because we're just there together, or that our dogs have simply taught us to "stay" and "behave!" It might make for a good bumper sticker: "Want world peace? Build a Dog Park!" Whatever it is, it works here at the Dougherty Hills Dog Park. And that's a very good thing, indeed! read more

BOTH large and small dog sides are very spacious, but can be muddy. Primarily stayed on the small side. There was a bench near the entrance, didn't have any shade between 1230-1330, and a few others along the fence line (along Amador Valley Blvd side) which had plenty shade. There's a water fountain bowl for the dogs within fenced area. There's another in between large and small for both dogs and owners. Unfortunately there were land mines. this place is my new favorite spot to relax and take in a nice sunny day after a long hectic work week. sure it's a park for dogs but i really get a kick out of watching all those 4 legged friends out there playing and getting the chance to sniff some strange doggie butt. i don't have a dog these days unfortunately but it really puts a smile on your face to see all of them going crazy for exercise and it makes me think back to when i was a kid and i had my first dog, sophie. i sure wish we had these parks back then! there are different sections to separate the small dogs from the large ones. there is an agility course which is like double dare for dogs, doggie inspired sculptures and even ever flowing water fountains. there are many benches so i can watch all the fun and crazy action but no public restrooms so i'm considering bringing a plastic bag for myself because you never know. read more

Hmmmmm..... What to do when a great, ferocious, man-eating, couch-destroying, remote-control devouring, hides-in-my-bed, all-destructive force of nature found in a 12lb Dachshund, known by most that fear him as Tic-Tac, get's bored? (picture can be found in my picture section - do NOT let the eyes fool you!) You don't run. You don't hide. You don't call yo' momma. You grab him by his gigantic head and call 911 to let them know of your whereabouts and head on over to the dog park. Or as Tic-Tac refers to it - the "humping place." Grrrrrr...... The park is pretty cool - wide open, well kept, and plenty of dogs at any given time - enough to wear out the furball so he, or she, will be so tired after an hour, they'll sleep the afternoon so you can run your dang errands. The park is split in two - to the right are the small dogs and to the left are the horses, er, large dogs. There's ample running room and the people are very friendly. Yes, the dogs will get into it sometimes, but hey, that's why they're called "dogs," not Jerry Springer's. Just keep you're cool and watch over yours and it's all good. Ironically, I know lots of the "regular" dogs there as they know Tic-Tac, but I haven't met but one person that I've exchanged names with - I know their dogs better than I know the owners :-) Tic Tac runs all his energy off at the park and it truly is a nice park to let your dogs roam. The big dog section is significantly larger than the small one and rightly so. One warning though - small dogs, when they fight, can be easily pulled apart; they shake it off and go play like they were best friends. The large dogs....well....I LOVE the big dogs, but when they get into, it's MUCH more difficult to pull them off, especially if they're running in a pack. Case in point: Awhile back ago, I saw a Boxer and a Great Dane get into it. The owner of the boxer had the dog by the back legs, IN THE AIR 4 FEET, while the Great Dane had the boxer by the face. The Dane EASILY stood 4 feet tall and probably weighed around 140lbs. In other words, the owner of the boxer and the great dane were playing tug-of-war with the Boxer as the rope. It took a solid 2 minutes to stop that fight. I nearly jumped the fence to help because the owner of the dane was a woman, who looked to be 30lbs LIGHTER than her dog and she was on the ground trying to pull the dog off. Luckily nobody, or dog, got hurt, but if you take your dog there, just keep a mindful eye that dogs will be dogs and there will always be a level of naturally occurring, ferrel instincts in them. And if you see Tic-Tac, call 911, FEMA, and then run for the hills! :-P read more
