    Our 7.44 miles hike

For our next hike, our group chose the Dublin Hills Regional Park on Dublin Blvd off 580. The trailhead has a large parking lot, two nice large bathrooms, picnic tables and Park District information board with trail maps. The trail starts next to the Schaeffer Ranch housing development at your ascent the Calaveras Ridge Trail. We turned off to the Donlon Loop Trail, which had views of another development and 580 heading towards Pleasanton. Then we headed back onto the Calaveras Trail and headed up to the top of the trail, which reached an elevation of 1,200 ft. Certain sections of the trail bordered private cattle grazing land. So you can see some steer right next to the trail. One of our hike members said the Park District allows the steers into the Park lands during certain time of the year to graze. So there were cow patties next to and on the trail. At the top of the Trail, we got good views of the San Ramon and the Tri-Valley. Most of the trail goes through open lands with a small section going through a grove of trees. It was good hike of 7.44 miles for us with some good hill climbs for some cardio. You do not feel totally away with civilization due to the view of the houses and the cities along certain stretches of the trail. Nice trailhead.

Beautiful east bay regional park in the neighborhood that I as finally able to go after living in the area for more than 7 years! It is the equivalent of Coyote Hill in Union City/Dumbarton Area. This could be a perfect spot for Dublin's own Glider hills. The drive to this park is awesome, the hikes are steep, great views from the top, grazing cows, chirping birds. It's a nature heaven.

This place is incredible! Lots of trails, good inclines, and nice mix of wide and narrow trails to satisfy all hiking levels. Gorgeous views of the SF Skyline, the Bay water, and Dublin when you go on the hilltops. Plenty of cute cows and calfs along the way when you follow Dunlon Loop. Just watch out for the cow-pies when you're walking. Cows are pretty chill and seem used to people, but a lady did say to give em space to make sure you don't get kicked. Sounds like good advice. Gets busier around noontime on the weekends, but a spacious park where you can socially distance enough. Most people were wearing masks except for some runners. I saw lots of kids and dogs. Perfect morning hike to go on the weekends before brunch time. I can't believe this is just a few minutes off of Dublin Blvd. Another hidden gem found in this awesome city!!

I've been hiking this trail since I was in high school so this place is definitely near and dear to me! There's a parking lot that is spacious and 2 bathrooms right out front before the trailhead. There is a quick trail that leads you to the view of the freeway, which I have done mostly. Sometimes I like to run up the hill for a nice workout. If you do want a longer hike, there are hills to the left that you can continue to hike. The view comes pretty quick after you pass the second green gate - you'll see the path break off. Head to the right which is a steeper hill but at the end you'll find yourself a nice view.

Dublin Hills Regional Park has been on my "to-do" hike list for several years. This year it has a hike featured in the East Bay Park Trails Challenge. My friend and I are trying to hit as many of these hikes as possible, so it was a perfect time to visit the Dublin Hills. On a sunny and particularly warm Sunday, our featured hike began at the Donlon Point staging area. Plenty of parking at this trailhead with clean restrooms and picnic tables. This staging area can be found about 2 miles west when turning down Dublin Blvd. February seems to be the perfect time to go. Green hills and vistas were everywhere. The trail is exposed most of the way, so the cooler winter temps are another key reason to hit up these hills this time of year. Our featured hike was about 4 miles and took us up the Calaveras Ridge Trail to a right on the Donlon Loop trail. I really enjoyed the sweeping views of the Tri Valley area to one side and then vast green hills to the other. While not strenuous, there are a few points on the trail that you gain elevation, head downhill and then gain elevation again. At one point on the Donlon Loop trail you head down hill towards a development, exit the park briefly and then climb back in and up via a fire road. That one little section, near McBride lane was the only bit of shade, which was a pleasant foray through a small wooded area. This is a great little scenic park but do come prepared. Cattle were grazing on both the Calaveras Ridge and the Donlon Loop trail. They paid us no mind and were close to, but not on, the trail. My friend had her little dog and just picked her up as we walked by them. Trails are muddy and rutted from the cattle after some rainy weeks, so wear sturdy hiking shoes. Towards 11:30 a.m., as we headed back down to our cars, the sun was beating down pretty hard. Bring a hat, sunscreen, and plenty of water. Great moderate hike through beautiful hills and ridges-Dublin Hills has a lot too offer! I enjoyed hiking at Dublin Hills few days ago. I just couldn't believe what I've been missing out all these years after living here for so long!! I was going to keep hiking on the main trail however as I kept walking I came across a muddy, wet area I could no longer pass with a jogging stroller. To my right I noticed another trail going the other way which later I learned was called, Donlon Point. I'm so glad my kids and I got to hike up that way because the view was spectacular, even breath taking and the day we hiked was also breezy so we all got to hear the gusty winds we normally wouldn't hear. I'm definitely coming back. There's even a bench one could sit on if wanted. - Restroom - Plenty of parking space - Literally surrounded by neighbors so I felt safe - Beautiful area

I went to the new Dublin Hills Regional Park last Saturay 1/15/11. It's a small park that you can hike the entire place in half a day. FREE parking at Donlan Point Staging Area. There's separate flushed toilets and a drinking fountain. FREE trail maps available too. We went on the Calaveras Ridge Regional Trail to Donlan Point - nice views there. Then looped back to Calaveras Ridge Regional Trail. We continued all the way to the top & end of Calaveras Ridge Regional Trail. Nice views there where we had lunch. Back down we did the Donlan Canyon - Went down to the bottom where there's some condos, then back up Donlan Loop Trail. Nice views on the way there & back. Lots of cows, but they don't bother anyone. Worth going if in the area & if it's a clear day.

Awesome view from top of the hill (:

Love this place! Plenty of parking, small but Nice Picnic area with very clean restrooms. More than few trails for hiking, average walk or maybe hill run! With all the congestion in Dublin these days it feels good to be away from all the car fumes & get some crisp fresh air! Also awesome views from the top of the hill. Come check this place out for your self!

A cute cow with White eyebrows, hope the owner can keep her.

We love this park, it's good for horse riding too. Beautiful and quite easy to go. The cow with white eyebrows is cute, I hope that the owner can keep her .

I like this park for a quick short hike. If you are a newb or lack endurance for steep hiking trails (just like me), this might just be the right spot for you. You'll meet and greet some cows along the way, just leave them alone and they'll do same thing. You'll get a nice decent view, not necessarily breathtaking but if I would hike here, I wouldn't come for this reason. It's mainly for quick exercise or cardio. Would I give this place a 4-star if I were one of the residents of the new homes developed nearby? No. Don't step the turds.

Hiked here this morning. Now, I'm not a professional hiker nor particularly fit, and this hike was very difficult for me. I guess it's about a mile straight incline (like 40 degrees) and I had to stop numerous times. I thought about turning around quite a few times. Once I reached the second gate you can maintain on the trail to the left, which seemed to be more of a stroll and less incline. I chose to go right which was another incline, but ended at the beautiful overlook. The scenery couldn't be beat. Also liked that at the parking lot there were nice restrooms because I could see easily spending 2-3 hours hiking in this spot.

Martin Canyon Creek Trail; hilly and lush

AKA Martin Canyon Creek Trail. I love this trail. It is a great trail for beginner hikers or for those who seek some fresh air and exercise, close to home. What I love most is the "hilly" stretch of trail ( with shade!) and the narrow paths. There is creek parts below, however in the Summer months, there won't be to much water available to check out. There's a nice man-made wooden bridge to explore where apparently people go past to have lunch and late night excursions. Kids and adults alike will go here for a peaceful walk and appreciate the intimate setting--not a lot of traffic, which is good. I came here my first time with 6 kids and it was a push to the finish (4.5 miles R/T) but they did it! The trail used to be a lot shorter, but Dublin has extended the trail to meet up with the Calaveras Ridge Regional Trail (CCRT). From where the trail meets up with the CRRT, it's about 2 miles. Past that I read it is a 7 miles stretch out the rest fo the way. Not counting your hike back of course. :) Very peaceful, a great workout, and nice scenery of lush forest, and some great views once you get to the ridge top. :) Can't wait to come back.

Hiked here this afternoon since I wanted to try a different trail. Besides my navigation acting up & not allowing me to navigate to the address on the website, it was easy to find. Free Parking at the staging area. The bathrooms were clean, pretty surprising for a park bathroom. There are free brochures provided near the park map. There is no shades on this trail, FYI. It was pretty hot out today but also breezy so it was bearable :) I didn't run into any cows this time around. The views are great. It was not as green as I would like but the flowers were blooming. The grades aren't too steep, there are a couple here & there when I started to breathe heavily but nothing you can't handle. I definitely would love to watch the sunrise or the sunset on the bench that overlooks the freeway. As weird as that sounds. Give it a try!

So nice up here after a good storm!
