There's also a smaller park on the other side that's suitable for younger children. You can also find shaded areas to sit and eat down at. A large grass field to run around or fly a kite. And a trail that goes around the park - perfect for walking, biking, or roller blading. I mentioned earlier that the main park was crowded, but the green area is very quiet and peaceful. I'm considering having one of my kid's birthday party's here. I truly enjoyed it. And I got to try out Mister Softee for the first time - which was parked out front for the day.

There was also an area where there were hammocks, a monument area, and even a community garden. There were also multiple bridges all spread throughout the park. The playground is a great place to bring kids, I loved the amenities they had, such as a jungle playground, zip line, and a giant slide for kids ages 5-12. This is a great place to bring your kids to play, and awesome place to walk your dog. There is a huge field of grass in the center of it all. We also saw cyclists.

If timed right, residents can take family photos. The park is often calm on weekdays. But it can get quite crowded when baseball or soccer leagues hold tournaments and/or the community room is rented out for a party on weekends. Parking is often impossible at these times.

And the coolest slide ever. My kids spent at least 20 minutes playing on the slide. There's plenty of shaded areas because the park is surrounded by beautiful tall trees. Athan Downs Park is a well-laid out park with a large playground and basketball court adjacent to…read morethe parking lot. The picnic tables, grassy areas and sports field surround the playground. The playground is one of the larger and more elaborate ones, and seems to cater toward the more athletically-inclined kids. Unlike many other parks the play area is not split between Ages 2-5 and 5-12. For example, there's just one location for swing sets with bucket-style seats for little ones and conventional seats for older kids. All the playground structures literally have bells and whistles, since they make sound effects! Their sandbox is a bit smaller than Osage Station Park, which is a downer since sandboxes are cool! Overall a decent and well-maintained park. Other than those spinning chairs and bucket-sear swings, playground is probably a bit too advanced for my 21-month old. He does like to run out to the field and borrow basketballs and other toys. We'll come back when he's a little older and then we can start the American Ninja training, LOL!

Parking lot in the lower area seems to have more space, but the upper lots were full with all fields having games. If I had to nit pick, they need a larger lot as it took some time to exit when the game ended. Everyone wanted to back up and leave from the same row of cars. It was chaotic and frustrating, but the park is amazing!
