What makes them great is that the dough is so soft and chewy and the frosting is not too sweet. Hands down the best donuts in Portland. And they're Vegan?! I love that Doe Donuts has a classic menu but then also gets creative with seasonal special donuts, which gives me an excuse to come back to try their new flavors. They also sell ice cream and coffee, though I've never tried anything else but their donuts. Small shop so I wouldn't recommend coming to eat in, but there's a cute outdoor seating area. OMG! I finally got to stop in here after years of wanting to try them. It did not disappoint at all! I opted for 3 flavors, vanilla bean, Dubai chocolate, and sweet potato curry. Wow! Mind was blown. That Dubai chocolate was absolutely amazing. The cream inside was whipped and so light, not overly sweet. The sweet potato curry was so delicious. The flavor was unmatched. We were on our way to Seattle, and I'm so glad we made the trek to this place. Wow, just writing this has me drooling thinking about their chocolate hazelnut donut. This place is an absolute gem of Portland. Hands down the best donuts around. The fact that all of their products are completely vegan is honestly mind-blowing, because they honestly taste so good and like regular donuts. My daughter can't have eggs so we are always looking for good vegan bakeries and this place was SO good. I DoorDashed a Baker's Choice Half Dozen and a seasonal flavored (Banana) coffee. I haven't had a banana coffee before and it was yummy - definitely unique. The special thing about them is there are tons of wacky flavor options. Two of the really interesting donuts in our half dozen were: - The couch potato: chocolate glaze x kettle chips x pretzels x mini chocolate chips - The almond joy: chocolate glaze x coconut x toasted almonds The presentation was good, nice branding and box with the delivery order. I wasn't crazy about the contents and that's what the focus should be. This was my first experience with Doe Donuts and while I liked the variety of donuts provided in the bakers choice box, I didn't really like any of the donuts in particular. The frosting and toppings were good but the dough base they use is not to my liking. It was thick and cakey but also very dense. I am particular to a more light, fluffy donut. I've loved Doe Donuts for many years but i think they just stopped caring... we went in the morning so it should be all fresh donuts and i was very excited for the Red Velvet cake as its made with cream cheese frosting, however when i ordered it it was extremely dry and there was little frosting to make up for it. Geez, I do believe I found the best donut in Portland: Salted Vanilla Bean for the win. It's like if Blue Star, Heavenly, and Pips had a baby that took the best feature from all. The texture is lighter than Blue Star but denser than Heavenly. The flavor is clean and balanced like Pips - reminiscent of the salted honey. Mine arrived slightly warm. Really, just the perfect donut. To be sure, I'll need to order it again. The maple donuts are also fantastic - they use real maple syrup. The texture again is spot on in not too dense or fluffy but just perfect. This one reminds me of the french toast at Fred's in Sausalito, CA. Lovely. Note: entire order was perfection today. I have heard good things about Doe and wanted to try their Portland fog donut. I came on a Wednesday morning around 9am and there was no line. The donut tasted freshly fried. I loved the cream on top (my fav part) and the glaze. Perfectly sweet and the earl grey flavor wasn't too strong. The other donut flavors looked good as well. A lot of unique ones. They also have excellent coffee here. Coffee was 3$ and donut was 4$. Not bad compared to some coffee shops around Portland where a drink and pastry can get to over 10$. Definitely better than voodoo. Couldn't tell these were vegan. I also liked that they weren't too huge. Good size. No indoor seating here. Some outdoor picnic tables. read more

I've recently-ish learned I'm not only reactive to gluten/dairy, I'm unfortunately moderately allergic. Since receiving my diagnosis, I thought I'd never find a perfect donut again. Skip ahead to walking out of the Hollywood Theatre... sitting, right there, was Doe Donuts. My family and I entered the shop to reward our kid with ice cream. Thats when I saw the case full of vegan, and gluten-free donuts. Oh my goodness they were gorgeous. So many, many options for me. Since, we've tried most all the donuts. All are delicious! My favorite is The Portland Fog - An earl grey glazed donut, with a whipped vanilla bean top. It's Stunningly flavorful, with the perfect amount of sweetness, and an incredibly light texture, that is delightful to bite into. The shop is sparkling clean, smells wonderful, but it's pretty little. There are only four customers allowed in at a time. We find the shop size to be no big deal. The donuts at Doe wasn't doughy, but airy and fluffy. I had high hopes for the Portland Fog since I used to be an avid Earl Grey tea drinker, but it was a bit of a let down considering there was a tiny dose of Earl Grey in the center, but everything else was covered in coconut cream. A big dollop of it on top. After removing the cream, the donut tasted pretty okay at best. I did like the Doe donut; strawberry milk with sprinkles. Now that one had sweetness that wasn't over powering and still delicious. I wanted to eat more! The third donut I tried was the Yuzu Bombolini; got it for the aesthetics and lemon based flavor. I loved the subtle hintness of yuzu, powdered sugar on top, and the cream in the center. It was a messy bite, but well worth it! Very tasty!! Next time I come, I'll try the strawberry rhubarb and the cinnamon roll. The cashier was nice, though he looked tired. He held a conversation well as he was folding boxes simultaneously. I see why Reddit locals voted Doe Donuts a better choice than Voodoo: more options to choose from in terms of vegan flavors, not heavy and dense, and not overly hyped up. I've eaten at Voodoo Donuts frequently because in Houston/Austin, this is the closest option to a vegan donut and in Houston though it is quite a drive (45 minutes from where I stay without traffic) to get to Voodoo (as all locations are in the same area of town). Since Portland has a major vegan food scene, I'll check out Doe Donuts each time I'm visiting! Also wanted to mention, I took Bus 75 to NE Sandy and Cesar Chavez to get here from Northeast Portland. There's no seating inside the store, but plenty of picnic tables out front. The area is a tad sketchy and secluded, there were some homeless people nearby, but they didn't bother. read more

I've ordered from delivery from Doe several times. I've never been in the store so I can't speak to the physical location. The donuts are delicious, though! Nicely packaged, the orders have always arrived in great shape and have been exactly what I ordered. I live both the regular and seasonal flavors. A lot of them are really creative. They even have some savory flavors, which is a nice change. Donuts are good sized and tend toward the more cakey in texture, with flavors that blend well and don't overwhelm. They also look pretty. The first time I ordered, I didn't even notice that they're vegan. It's nice that they are, but people who don't care won't notice the difference. Often the first place people tell tourists in Portland to go for donuts is Voodoo Donuts. I can't believe there's a line out the door for them, and that Doe Donuts does not. This is my first time trying, and I had it delivered to me, so I can't speak to the ambience of the establishment itself, but the packaging of the donuts was so on point, I had to stop and admire it/send pictures to a friend of how pretty the packing and donuts themselves were. I have heard such amazing things about the Portland Fog doughnut that I ordered two. I'm incredibly glad that I did. The Portland fog is easily the most delicious donut I've ever eaten in my life, let alone in Portland, Oregon. If for nothing else, it is worth it to go to Doe Donuts for this. The flavor is difficult to describe but it is not overly sweet, however, it is also remarkably decadent with notes of a light smoky flavor and Earl Grey tea. I will edit this review when I'm able to try the other flavors. As I was looking at the pictures, I wanted to post here, I realized that I was offered oat milk or soy milk for my coffee. I liked that, as I am allergic to milk. I then noticed that *the donuts themselves are actually vegan*. I had no idea. I can't tell you how they make them, but I can't tell you they are the most delicious donut, with the best texture. Doe Donuts is my new go to for donuts in Portland. Some of my favorite treats this year were from Doe. We visited multiple times during our trip earlier this year, ordered 11 donuts, and they 100% lived up to our expectations (which were pretty high, considering we'd been tracking all their seasonal donuts on Instagram for months). They're fantastic donuts that happen to be 100% vegan, and I love that they have both sweet and savory options. One of their specials when we went was a banh mi long john, and I'm still thinking about that one, months later. They have so many donuts to choose from that there's something for everyone's flavor preference, and they change the specials, which are fun and interesting, often enough that there's new flavors all the time. OMG! I have been patronizing Doe for some time now. I love the creative flavors they bring together every month. I look forward to seeing what is next. But this darn savory Philly cheesesteak donut sent me, sent me to Yelp to tell y'all it is the best savory yet. I forgot to get a pic of the cinnamon roll I had this time, it was good. It's just a fun mix of flavors and was light. I don't mean light as in wavelength or weight. I mean light as in you don't feel bloated after you eat this donut in three bites. 2. Rosemary Pecan Crumb Old Fashioned. This one is definitely the cakey style, which was excellent. I thought this one had the best combination of dough plus glaze. Doe is my new favorite donut shop in Portland. Easy to access location, absolutely adorable logo and insanely delicious vegan donuts - what more could you ask for? I stopped by last January after months of following their Insta and seeing post after post of their eye-pleasing creations (huge kudos to the photographer). My favorite was the limited Buttermint White Chocolate. It was so pretty and tasted just like my childhood. The Portland Fog (earl grey icing, vanilla bean) was a close contender. This one is a must! The Lemon Buttermilk Bar (another limited January flavor) was perfectly tangy. I wish this one was available year-round. The classic "Doe" (strawberry milk glaze with sprinkles) is another nostalgic flavor that I loved. Lastly, the Sundae was a chocolatey dream. The ice cream cone pieces were brilliant.
