Without a doubt, the best chicken in the world, and the fried sweet plantains are to die for! I was good for a Dodo's run once a week when I lived in Houston, and it is a must-visit whenever I get to town now that I live in Seattle. The chicken is prepared rotisserie-style but is somehow infused (marinade? Injection?) with a subtle but flavorful concoction that leaves the chicken tender, moist and incredibly tasty. The plantains at Dodo's were the first I've ever had and they ruined me for all others. Sweet, crunchy, soft and greasy all at the same time, you'll never look at plantains the same way again after having these. The red beans and rice are great as well. Get a half a chicken, sweet fried plantains and red beans and rice. Not only will you not leave hungry, you'll be planning your next trip back before you finish. read more

There is always a line here so you know for sure that the chicken is fresh. I thought the chicken was good but a bit over salted. The sides were great. My favorite are the arepa and yellow rice. You get a lot here with the combo. Definitely a great deal. read more

Sides are better than chicken. Chicken was greasy as heck. Pollo bravo way better at least the chicken is and their sauce is to die for. I must admit the sides are better at dodos. Oh. The sauce. Both green and red sauce were not good at all. They both tasted very bitter and unflavorful. I won't be returning. I wish it was as good as I expected. Ehhhhh, what can I say? For starters, the chicken! I ordered the 1/4 roasted dark meat plus 3 sides. I was NOT moved! Juicy chicken, yes! Flavorful, nahhhh!! The chicken was rather bland and lacked seasoning, especially after removing the skin. I also ordered the fried plantain, hush puppies and red beans as my 3 sides. Best place to eat roasted chicken . I really like them over all. They have a mayo green sauce it's the best and their arepitas are so good.

We've been coming here for 17 years. It's our favorite chicken place. We drive from Meyerland to pick up a to go order. We pass many good chicken places on the way, to get to the best. After having to walk out of Pollo Bravo (thought it was a Peruvian restaurant since it is advertised that way but actually has more Mexican on the menu than Peruvian.....), I ended here wanting to try a new place. I go to Los Perros y El Paisa BBQ (they really need to get some Colombianos working here so as the service picks up a bit) all the time but have never stopped here. For about $10-11 you get chicken, rice, beans, plantains, arepa, chorizo, and a big juice. You can't beat that . And it is great ckicken. I would put it a notch above Pollo Riko. I will have to put this into my chicken rotation. read more

Dodo's chicken is delicious! I love the sauces that come with the meal, especially the red sauce. I pour that all over my chicken. And the arroz y frijoles is soo good! Let me start with their mango juice and hush puppies! Made with real mangos not from concentrate...so refreshing on a summer day in Houston. Hush puppies are the best I've ever had! This is my favorite rotisserie chicken restaurant. The staff is very friendly and service is quick. I order the lunch special, I always make sure they leave that flavorful skin on too. I tried Dodos for the first time today. On the positive side, they gave me a discount for it being my first time. The red beans and rice were good and hot. The sweet plantains were okay, but a little overcooked. The chicken was dry, which should not be the case with dark meat. Also, they got one of my sides wrong. You cannot beat the price these people sell their food for. If you want to eat cheap and good this is the place to go. I found the chicken about average in quality and taste compared to the "pollo asado" anywhere in Colombia. The fried yucca was notable. The fried plantains were good. It all goes down from there. The salt potatoes are ok but they are not really salt potatoes. The empanadas were good but far from excellent with an "aji" (those are the sauces served with the food) that was missing the mark. The chorizo was definitely not very authentic and resembles a regular sausage. I was starting to question whether these people were actually Colombian. I went and talked to the owner and they definitely were. They were also very nice people. I guess they have chosen to make certain compromises in order to accomodate their price point. I will be back....but I will stick with the chicken and the "yuca frita". Don't get me wrong, it is all edible. No bad food here. I live up in North Texas (Yes A Gringo) but down in Houston for a visit. I stopped in at this place and took a chance on the Latin fair; what a pleasant surprise. Having a spouse who's Colombian, I've tried Central & South American food throughout the U.S. This is by far the best I've eaten yet! The chicken was fresh-off-the-rotisserie (not gas flame, it's charcoal cooked), I also had the red-beans and rice, (which was equally outstanding) and of course had the fried green plantains, they were good as well, (though the yellow or sweet one's looked like a great choice too), I couldn't go without trying both a chicken & a beef empanada (tasty) and last but diffidently not least, the AREPA'S are out of this world. I mean the best I have eaten outside of Colombia. All for a nominal fee. Well worth the trip!! On the other hand, I tried the fried Yucca and it wasn't for me but my wife found it very appealing to her taste buds. I found the restaurant to be clean, organized, the owner and staff to be very friendly and curtis; also a plus. We'll be back for sure! read more

Pollo Riko is muuuch better in terms of flavor and variety. I will say, Dodo's chicken, even the white meat, is pretty juicy, but the skin was just fatty and not crisp, everything else about the food was pretty plain or lacking. At least its cheap. Fried yucca tasted like absolutely NOTHING--and I LOVE yucca so I was really confused and disappointed. Maybe they have never heard of salt/seasoning/flavor? I don't know. Plus, they promised us arepas (and as a 9 mos preggo with a crazy strong craving for them tonight), and they didn't come in the to-go bag :(. Pretty bummed. The rice and beans were almost flavorless too, and it was more like 3 parts rice to one part beans, which me n my hubby were disappointed about. The little teeny containers of salsa were good and helped to add some kind of flavor though at least.
