Went in on Saturday night 2/9/13 around 10pm. Been here a few times, probably 4 times in the last 6 months. This was probably the last. I went in with some friends, place was busy. Small parking lot was full, parked next door at the closed bike shop. We wanted to play some pool and get some drinks. We went in, I went straight to the bartender and asked if there was a waitress working. She said yes and I showed her where we were sitting. 15 minutes passes so I go ask again, same bartender says someone will be over. So we wait. From what I could gather it looked like they had 2 bartenders and 1 bouncer. They could have used some help being Saturday night. They probably and the worst and most random music I've ever heard. Just a complete mix of everything. This bar has no identity. Dirty inside. Smells weird. Bathrooms looks and smells like a someone had bad Mexican food and drank a 30 pack. Barely any girls here, the only ones you'll find most the time are the bartenders. Don't blame girls for not coming here. Very unattractive bar inside. We decided to play some pool while we wait. Can't be their 75 cent games! But, all pool cues are trashed, bad. All tables felts are garbage. And all tables need to be re-leveled due to bad slanting from people leaning on it I assume. So you get what you pay for. Doesn't bother me that bad since it's so cheap, just don't expect to impress anyone if you're any good. After the first game we are still waiting. I take a break and let other friends play while I read the few month old stacks of newspapers they keep around as well as expired promotion event coupons (months old). They finish another game. It's been over half hour. Time to leave I guess. Left the bar thirsty and paying $1.50 in pool. This hurts to write this review as I love dive bars/hole in walls. This place service quality just keeps getting worse. I used to not care because the drinks were so cheap. But it's just become too bad for me. On the plus side the staff is friendly when you can find them. And drinks are super cheap. This bar needs to be on Bar Rescue. It has the right location, but no identity. I could turn this place around, it's just that bad. I'm guessing the owner just doesn't care much about this place. read more

Great neighborhood bar with good drink specials and friendly servers. They don't have food but a decent pizza place is next door and they have no issues with you bringing food in. read more

After reading the reviews I had to check this place out. The first hour and a half was spent half expecting a massive bar tab as the place seemed too good to be true. Half dressed young ladies, pool, darts, pinball, golden tee, big game hunter and the WII. Place is clean and people are friendly...oh and the drinks are cheap. Will repeat. read more

This is one of my favorite dive bars in PHX. Great drink specials, great prices, and so much FUN! Always cool people in here, very relaxed and friendly atmosphere, and the bartenders and patrons are always wonderful to talk to. THX Dodey's for all the memorable nights. read more

As far as dive bars go, this one is a winner. Jukebox worth a wide variety of music. Cheap drinks. Good mix of regulars. I'm a fan. The owner bought everyone shots the night I was there. I'll definitely be back! read more

Upon entering Dodie's which I have been there plenty of times my boyfriend has been going there for almost 10 years. I bought a friend a shot and myself a shot. I said I'm going to the bathroom I'll be right back. Apparently there was a bartender that was off duty that was sitting right by the area where the drinks are served. I went to take my drink and she told me that it was not my drink which it was I paid for it and then proceeded to put her hands around my neck and choke me. While screaming obscenities to me. Nobody talk to me about the situation I was lifted up by a six foot five man off my feet and thrown out of the bar. I was a paying customer I was causing no problems there problem was the bartender that choked me. Then when I was in the parking lot the people outside smoking or a heckling me as well. I have never been treated this way in my life there was no resolve and there was no what reason for her to put her hands on me. If I could give this place to your stars I would but there are also wonderful bartenders that work there like Susie and others. I was supposed to get a call from the owner today and never did okay I'm contemplating taking legal action this is ridiculous. If you work at a bar maybe you shouldn't be there after hours and there is no reason to put your hands on anyone I'm very disappointed my boyfriend has been coming here for years and there has never been this kind of trash going on. read more

Bikers without fighting Cheap drinks without puking Sex without sleaze... What else do you want? Ive been going since they opened and I've yet to see a barfight, a sloppy drunk or a slutty barmaid. Dodey runs a class act here - in a local "dive" bar. It's worth checking out a few times. There's always something going on and the all-girl staff are cool, pretty and professional. Oh yeah, the jukebox is wired up right into the main speakers so the whole building rocks. This is my "must-see" bar when I have friends in town. read more

I used to come here about once a week & there have been some great bartenders. After a short hiatus, I stopped by for a few drinks today. One of the things I love about this bar is it's diversity!!! My husband put money in the jukebox & patiently waited for what seemed like at least 30 minutes of Prince (Purple Rain- 8 min. song), Journey and a few other songs I'm unfamiliar with. Finally, our songs began to play. After 2 songs and 3 more in the cue, Holli/Holly(bartender-aka bitch) immediately changed our song and played Fleetwood Mac. So it may have been a little too heavy for her taste (Deftones & King 810)! I get it! (Side note...I'm a Fleetwood Mac fan and have seen Stevie Nicks/Fleetwood Mac in concert 3 times, but this was about the principle of the matter). My husband asked Holli what happened? With a bitchy attitude, she replied that the music was chasing her customers away. He asked about the other music he had in the cue and she said she wouldn't play that either. I told her that wasn't cool and she told me it was "her bar" and I could talk to Dodey if I didn't like it. My husband and I briefly spoke with Dodey and left. We are having a party tomorrow night and we'd love to stop by with our group like we usually do. Luckily, there are at least 7 bars within a mile radius to choose from. What a joke this place is the worst. Totally rude bartender door guy a complete jerk. I thought it was basically the same cool neighborhood bar I used to go to. But now if they don't know you and you are not a regular you are not welcome!! I would recommend this place to no one. read more
