I heartily recommend "Doctors on Duty" on South Main in Salinas in the same building as Sherman's Apothecary. I first went there when I moved to town in 2009 and didn't yet have a doctor here. They were great at that time. I then started going to my daughter's doctor. However a serious cat bite required that I see a doctor on Friday just before Easter. My regular doctor was not available and the group I was going to had absolutely no openings. They recommended the walk-in clinics here related to the Salinas Valley hospital or the Emergrncy Room. It was only noon. I went in to Doctors on Duty and was able to see a wonderful doctor. I knew there would be a wait on Good Friday, so I had taken my needlework. Cristina at reception was kind on the phone and when I got there. The A/C was on just enough for a hot day. The medical assistant Jessica taking my vitals was lovely and efficient entering my information. Then she called me in to a room. Dr. Robert Duane Morris came in and I immediately felt better. He checked out the cat bite and reassured me that it was good I had come in. He was very kind, thorough and efficient. He prescribed medication and care, and we agreed I needed a tetanus shot. I thanked him profusely. Then the nurse Vanessa who gave me the shot showed me to the right door to exit. She too was smiling and kind. I'm 71 years old and have had many doctors. COVID-19 is scary for all of us. Months after getting my second vaccination, I unfortunately, was exposed to the virus. I contacted South Main Doctors on Duty to ask about a rapid test. After speaking with the manager, Lucina, she instructed me to arrive at the clinic and park in the designated area for Covid patients. The staff were so efficient and friendly. After the COVID test was done, I left and by the time I arrived home 20 minutes later the NP, Shayla, was calling me to tell me I tested positive. We've all read stories about Covid and I was scared! She was so reassuring and told me she would take care of me and she would treat my symptoms, if needed. After talking to her I felt so much more comfortable. Fast forward a couple of weeks, again, Doctors on Duty to the rescue! I started feeling a sinus infection coming on. Ask if they could do another Covid since I needed a negative test to visit family. Boom! Test done and was NEGATIVE! talked to the NP and got an RX for my infection, and now I'm feeling so much better. Can't say enough good things about the professional, compassionate and awesome staff and a big shoutout to the manager, Lucina Villicana! Great job taking care of me. I have been here multiple times and never had a problem. Front staff usually informs me of the wait time as soon as I check in if not, I just simply ask and they tell me with no problem. It is true sometimes they do have a long wait, however they offer you to leave and come back when you have less of a wait. Today, I had severe back pain came in and wait was about 2 hrs. I was offered to go home, and I did. I fell asleep and once I woke up I had 3 missed calls Maggie answered and stated that they removed me but I was still able to come in and she would tell the other girl to "quick add" me. When I arrived Juliana gave me my forms and I gave them back to Liz, I believe was their names (I asked but its been a couple of hours since) I waited about 20 minutes but they did explain that they had received an emergency. Dalia was my nurse, she was very caring and helpful. Overall I recommend this place. And as for the wait IT IS AN URGENT CARE and see all types of patients with all sort of reasons to go & they are on a walk in basis. This is very convenient instead of waiting 2 weeks for an appointment at my primary physician. THANKS GUYS!!! I WILL RECOMMEND AND DEFINATLY COME BACK WHEN I NEED TOO!!! I am never one to do reviews but I am surprised on the care I got here. I did read the reviews before hand and do not believe them on bit. I felt like I actually mattered here. My receptionist was Reyna and she is truly an angel and absolutely deserves the praise. She was extremely helpful and always had a smile on her face. She had explained to me that the wait for me would be around 2 hours ( as expected with an urgent care ) and told me she would give me a call back once its my turn which was so helpful got to do some errands and still be seen. My medical assistant was Michan, she listened to all my concerns and made sure all my answers were answered. I felt like she truly cared. The doctor was Dr.Anthony and he has the best bed side matter. He made sure to ask everything that was going on and how I was feeling and really made me feel like he really wanted me to get better. Overall, with Reyna, Michan and Dr. Anthony my visit was very pleasant and if I ever feel worse again I will be back here and hope to see Reynas wonderful smile and Michan as well as Dr.Anthony. I went in to doctors on duty to have my arm checked for muscle pains. Jennifer at front desk was extremely kind and helpful with me signing in for a check in. I didn't wait long ether after a few patients in front of me they took me in and took all my vitals. The Medical assistants Angel and Santiago were amazing and I had a great conversation with them almost as if we were close friends. They were very nice throughout the whole process. Very uplifting and smiling and helpful in everything that needed to be checked before the doctor checks in on me. I didn't wait long either for the doctor to check up on me. Dr. Fiess is amazing at what he does and made sure to review every detail with me for the issue I had and helped understand my problem and explained to me very well the reasons why I had my muscle pains and what causes them. Dr. Fiess careful on every detail and did a thorough check on me and he quickly diagnosed the issue and was able to prescribe me the proper treatment and medicine for my pains and sent me on my way home. read more

I had a FaceTime appointment with DR.LALIA BARNES and let me tell you she exceeded beyond my expectations. I had already spoken with three doctors from D.D and two of them disregarded my concerns claiming it could either be motherhood or something else to why I'm experiencing my symptoms. Didn't even bother asking me further question or ordering bloodwork. The third Doctor I spoke to did order blood work and did seem concerned but was still missing a couple things.But fortunately Dr.Lalia Barnes was aware of those other symptoms & asked me the RIGHT questions. Truly listened to me, wanted to get to the bottom of what could my possible illness be, ordered melé blood work, and didn't make me feel like my symptoms were in my head or a cause of motherhood like the other doctors. She was very knowledgeable and I wish I didn't have to go through so many Doctors to feel like my symptoms were being considered. She's a healthcare provider for the right reasons and we need more like her. read more

I was seen at Doctors on Duty on 10/06/2019 to have some prescriptions refilled and from the time I entered the office I was greeted by the front office staff and helped with the sign in process. When I was called to the examination room I was then greeted by a very nice nurse by the name of Rosa who took my vitals and asked some general questions and was very pleasant and then she told me the doctor would be right in. The doctor entered the room and introduced himself as Dr. D. Anthony as he approached me he could see I was a little nervous but he spoke to me and ask his questions all the while being very professional and I was able to relax and felt very comfortable speaking with him. I asked if I could continue to see him as a primary physician and he said I was more than welcome to continue to see him. I love this office! They are busy but there is a good reason for it. They take good care of your needs better than my own primary doctor. I have had different doctors before but if you want exceptional, quality, and loving care I recommend you ask for NP Hampton-Mielke. I followed her from Salinas Urgent Care and haven't gone back since because of her. She's amazing and worth the wait. She's beautiful and always on point with her crocs. The best part is how she makes sure I am taken care of and that I have everything I need before I leave. At my last visit her nurse Selene made sure I understood everything that she did for me. I always feel taken care of and if I need anything Shayna always gets back to me on the phone even though I know she is super busy. 5 stars on great customer service. Well for Jackie at least. I called the clinic today because I needed to schedule a follow up appointment for my work injury and I was put on hold for about 20 minutes so I decided to hang up and call again. No answer. They do say 3 rd time is the charm. In my case it was, my call was quickly answered and wit great service. I let Jackie know I needed a follow up, she did say appointments were fully booked until 3rd week of June or so and suggested a walk in. I explained to her a few things and was able to set up a telehealth for tomorrow which is great! I also mentioned my experience earlier with the hold and she apologized. Very sweet & caring of her to set up my appointment for the following day Instead of a month wait! Maybe I called during rush hour but one should never answer with rudeness and should let the caller know it busy and not just forget about them. read more

I got a tb test at the Marina DOD, and since they are closed on the weekends, they told me to go to the Salinas DOD. I was told they're open until 6pm, which was perfect since I got off from work at 5pm. Once I got to the Salinas DOD, I saw a notice on their doors saying that they closed early at 4pm. I waited outside in hopes that someone would still come out, since I needed my tb test read... Otherwise I would've needed to wait longer to take another test, pay for it again, and wait even more for the results. Thankfully, one of the medical assistants (America C.) came out to help me and was fully understanding of my situation. She was able to squeeze me in and read my tb test quickly, which I was super thankful for. If it weren't for her, I would have needed to pay more of my time and money! I made an online appointment to be seen at this location and it was the best decision I have made. I was planning to just walk in but i remembered online check in was offered. I went in at my scheduled time and was greeted by Reyna and Isis. I let them know I was going to be a self pay and Reyna explained the process from the deposit to the end of visit process. She checked me in and waited about 5 minutes before being called in. Mats on took my vitals and explained everything he was checking. I was seen by Denise the PA and she addressed every issue I had. She listened to every concern I had and answered all my questions. I was discharged by Dalia and she explained that I was getting medication and where it was sent to. I went to this particular Doctors In Duty on the recommendation of my daughter. She told me it's the best one in Monterey county! I went for a specific issue. From the first moment I entered the office, the staff were smiling and making eye contact and greeted me like they knew me. The Med assistant, Rosa, was very kind and compassionate. She was very professional and knew exactly what to do for me. No doubt she'll be an RN! Dr Prysi is so easy to talk with and was able to resolve my issue immediately. He made me feel at ease to discuss my concerns. He asked me specific questions and was genuinely interested. He involved me in my care plan. Later, they called to follow up and asked me how I was feeling. She was very kind and professional. I want to thank Dr Satya, Brianna, Brisa, Eli and Irma. Thank you. I took my son and mother in law(2 different occasions) and the staff is great. Took care of both of my family members. Showed concern and were compassionate to all of us. Yes they have long waits but we need to understand that when our PCP is notwilling or availe to see us, doctors on duty is always there. No need to be so negative about them. The staff is great and alway so nice. I love you can go online and put your name in line ( not appointment) and they text you when you should show up. Awesome! I love Doctors on Duty on S Main. The front ladies are very nice and helpful. I always usually go in as a walk in & yes the wait time can be SUPER long but you're able to go home & wait there. They call you when you're almost next & that gives you enough time to get back. Dr. Luder is usually who always sees us and he's always very nice, professional, and gives us his time. ( never in rush or rude like other doctors). I'd also like to give Fernando a 5 star review. He's an awesome nurse. Very genuine, nice, & funny. My son is a silly guy & Fernando kept up with him. He even impersonated Stitch to go along with my sons silliness. He's great with kids ! Both my kids loved him. He made them feel safe & comfortable to be at the doctor. Whenever I go over to Doctor's on Duty for an appointment or as a walk-in the front staff are always mean and unfriendly which makes me not want to come back. But once you are taken into the back with the Medical Staff, it is an entirely different and very pleasant experience. All of the doctors there are GREAT and really care about your health and helping you get better fast. The Medical Assistance and Nurses are the friendliest and most welcoming of any medical place, hospital or clinic I have ever visited anywhere. As always, Dr. Luder gets 5 stars. His patience, expertise and ability to help me calm down prior to blood pressure checks or any other procedure/exam is remarkable. I was so happy to learn 18 months ago that Doctors on Duty (at least at this location) offered Primary Care and that Dr. Luder was on the staff. I've been going there ever since and, even though the building is currently being renovated/updated, the staff remains dedicated to assuring personal, thorough attention to their patients. Angel, yesterday's Medical Assistant during my visit, was so understanding and attentive to details, all while making sure I was treated with care and my questions were answered. My experience from start to finish was excellent! When I called for an appointment the gal who set my appointment up 'Veronica' was pleasant and sincerely concerned. The day of my appointment the staff at check in was also very pleasant. The appointment was great! I have no complaints! The NP listened to my concern and then started to address my medical concern. When done I went up front and the gal upfront set my follow up appointment up for me.. an overall EXCELLENT experience at this urgent care. After being sick for a couple of days I finally decided to get checked up by a doctor. I live all the way in greenfield and it's 5 pm on a Friday night. I don't want to go to the ER cause 1st, it's expensive and 2nd, only go to Mee Memorial if you want to die (closest ER to me). Anyways, I remembered a couple years ago I was seen at this location for a work injury. I called them and Maggy answered all my questions AND EVEN TOOK THE TIME TO CHECK MY INSURANCE BEFORE COMING IN. I did mention I was going from Greenfield. Overall, experience was excellent, the nurse was nice and the doctor answered all my question and I was able to pick up my meds the same day because they suggested cvs next door which is 24 hours. read more
